A total of 13 of the 50 people believed to be involved in the college admissions scandal have now agreed to plead guilty to at least one felony count. Most of the charges involve mail fraud but there is some other ancillary stuff thrown in, including defrauding the IRS.
Some of them, including Felicity Huffman, have asserted that their rugrats had no knowledge of the rule bending that was undertaken on their behalf. Hell, it might even be true in some cases.
A total of 33 parents are charged. Generally speaking those who plead out early hope to get very little or zero actual time in the slammer as a result of their pleas.
Lori Laughlin has not yet made a plea deal, or at least if she has they are keeping it quite. William H Macy, Ms. Huffman's hubby, is mentioned in court documents but is not charged.
Maybe they can all get together and made a Public Service Announcement Hallmark Movie on the evils of cheating and telling lies as part of their community service. It might be a hit during this election season. Or not.
They should all take a plea. The feds have them by the short hairs.
ReplyDeleteAdditional charges related to money laundering have been leveled against those who seem to be uninterested in playing Lets Make A Deal.
