Sondra Locke, primarily known to most people as being Clint Eastwood's squeeze and co-star in a number of his films, has died at the age of 74 due to cancer.
Most people don't remember that she was nominated for an Oscar in 1968 for her portrayal of Mick, the young girl in The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter. She later married a gay man, Gordon Anderson, from who she never divorced and with whom she remained friendly throughout her life.
Locke is mostly famous for a palimony suit against Eastwood after their relationship and consequently her career took a nose dive. She finally got about $2.5 million from her suit but made only three mediocre films after their split-up.
Sondra Locke was a nice looking woman. When she played in Every Which Way but Loose she was a lounge singer but in my opinion she couldn't sing. It was kind of a silly movie but I enjoyed it. "Right turn, Clyde!"
