UVALDE LAWSUITS

By Bob Walsh

uvalde school shooting

The families of a number of victims of the Uvalde school shooting have just filed a lawsuit against the city, the state, the school and several law enforcement officials.  The suit, which was filed on Tuesday, is attempting to establish a class action for the survivors.  The suit is asking for $27 billion dollars.  The action was filed in federal court in Austin, TX.

My guess, for what that may be worth to you, is that they will get a substantial settlement but no where near what they are asking.  It is hard to sue law enforcement for non-action, much harder than it is to sue for wrong action.  Generally speaking law enforcement does not have a duty to protect individual people.
