GOOD NEWS FROM NORTH CAROLINA

Tricia Cotham, 44, was, until today, a Democrat member of the North Carolina lower house.  As of today she is a Republican member of that body.

This move is, in the words of Joe Biden, a BIG FUCKING DEAL.  This means that the N. C. state legislature now has a super-majority of Republicans in both houses and can override a veto by the Democrat-Socialist governor, Roy Cooper, if they feel it necessary.  

Ms. Cotham announced that she had simply gotten tired of being bullied and attempts to control her by her own former party.  The governor announced that he was "troubled" by her jumping ship.  

Ms. Cotham has been a supporter of abortion rights and of LGBTQWXYZ rights.

Emily's List, an organization of whacko-liberal women focused on abortion rights, issued a statement criticizing her move to the Republicans.  It should be noted that Ms. Cotham made public nearly ten years ago the fact that she had an abortion years previously.  She has stated on the record that she believes the decision whether or not to have an abortion is and should be a personal and medical decision and not a political one.  

Representative Cotham was (apparently deliberately) absent from the floor last week, a move that allowed the Republicans to override a veto of a Constitutional Carry bill in N. C.  It was the first successful override since 2018.
