A total of six people were shot including one fatality at
a house party near Chico State in the wee hours of Saturday. The dead
person was a 17-year old girl. The shooting took place on Columbus Ave
less than a mile off campus.
The other victims were another 17-year old girl and three young men.
There
was a shootings at one other house party the same night but nobody was
wounded by gunfire, though a few people got owies from fights. In
addition there was a fight at the sight of the fatal shooting about 2
1/2 hours earlier than the shooting.
The
earlier shooting, also on Columbus, resulted in the arrest of one
shithead for brandishing a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm.
Clearly house parties should be banned in the interest of public safety.
