The New York Police Department is on the hunt for a 6ft3, 250lb prisoner, who made a daring escape from a Manhattan hospital.

Yenchun Chen, 44, was in Department of Corrections custody inside of Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center, located at 281 First Avenue, when he broke free around 4:30pm on Wednesday.

The hulking prisoner had been at the hospital since Friday after experiencing cardiac issues.

Chen was supposedly taking a shower when he made a run for it by tying bedsheets together and rappelling out a fifth floor window.

When correction officers went to check on him they found the bathroom window open and saw Chen was gone.

An NYPD spokesperson confirmed to DailyMail.com that the 'prisoner did escape the hospital via a fifth floor window to the street and fled in a yellow taxi southbound on 2nd avenue.'

Chen was last seen dressed in a white shirt and tan khakis. He still had his hospital bracelets on during his daring escape

  1. They must have given him a buttload of towels to make a five story rope. Towels are normally not sized well to make ropes.
