GOVERNOR OF NEW MEXICO SUSPENDS CONSTITUTION

Sad to say this is NOT a joke and is not really much of an exaggeration, if any.  Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has suspended the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution, various portions of the New Mexico Constitution and at least one section of federal law, the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, within Bernalillo County, the most populous county of New Mexico and the location of the state capitol.

The Governor believes that she has a significant crime problem.  She is right.  She believes the way to deal with that problem is to disarm honest, law abiding citizens for at least 30 days.  She is wrong in that case.

The executive order suspends the carrying of either concealed or open carry weapons by anybody but currently employed law enforcement and legally armed private security personnel.  The order took effect yesterday.

That state plans to, among other things, start "checking" gun shops to ensure compliance with the order.

It should be noted that law enforcement in New Mexico no longer have qualified immunity.  It would be completely possible for someone who came into conflict with this clearly unconstitutional order to successfully personally sue whatever law enforcement officer officer attempted to enforce this law against them.

This has the possibility of getting REALLY interesting very quickly.
