In any case the governor of New
York just announced that she is sending a tad over 1,000 National Guard
and State Police to New York to patrol the subway stations. Doing back
pack inspections and things like that. How legal is that? Don't you
need some sort of probable cause? Maybe just the fact that you are in
the subway means your mental health is suspect and that gives the state
the right to stop and search you.
The
mayor has also diverted additional police resources to the subways in
the face of rising violent crime, much of it committed by dangerous
crazy people.
