Falkland Islanders
There is apparently a huge sea of oil in Antarctica.
Perhaps ten times as large as the North Sea discovery years back. That
may start getting interesting.
By
international treaty no one county can assert ownership of land in
Antarctica. However you can maybe make certain boundary claims based on
land that your county does with0ut dispute own. Britain, which owns
the Falklands, has a claim in this area that overlaps claims by
Argentina and Chile.
The
U.K. would, if push came to shove, be handicapped in their claim due to
the fact that their navy is a shadow of its former self.
There
will no doubt be years of legal wrangling with countries like China and
Russia, who have no qualms about shoving their camel's nose into other
people's tents, pushing the envelope.
