SOMEBODY IS SURE AS HELL LYING

She said / they said with some political corruption overlay.  Doesn't sell newspapers as much as bloody sex murders, but it does attract attention.

Cynthia Moreno used to be the communications aide for CA Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas.  She was fired recently by the assembly, allegedly for making "sexually charged" comments to a colleague.  If you believe her she was fired as retaliation for ratting out Rivas and his brother, Rick Rivas, who is a big wheel with the American Beverage Association.  Her complaint alleges racketeering and general purpose political corruption.  Allegedly they are comingling funds that are supposed to stay in separate pockets for separate uses.  Brother Rick is also Robert's closest political advisor.  Allegedly this comingly of funds has, among other things, resulted in a recent law allowing Uber and Lyft drivers to unionize.  This was previously impossible under then existing labor laws.  She also alleges that SHE was sexually harassed by a different Rivas aide.  

Rivas asserts the allegations are false and defamatory and promises a vigorous legal fight in court.

It is unclear whether or not the feds are actually looking into it.
