Sec. Robert Kennedy Jr. was put in a bind by a Republican senator who quizzed him on President Donald Trump's COVID vaccine work.
The Health and Human Services secretary was given a bipartisan grilling during a hearing largely focused on his vaccine claims.
Many of those interactions dealt with the COVID vaccine that was created by Trump's Operation Warp Speed.
'Do you agree with me that President Trump deserves a Nobel Prize for Operation Warp Speed?' Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., the chairman of the health committee, asked Kennedy.
'Absolutely, senator,' RFK Jr. dutifully responded.
Cassidy then pressed Kennedy on contradicting himself.
'But you just told Sen. Bennet that the COVID vaccine killed more people than COVID?' the senator responded.
'Wait, I did not say that,' RFK blurted out in protest. 'I just want to make clear, I did not say that.'
The Louisiana Republican pushed back: 'We'll check the record. That's a question of fact.'
Kennedy expressed uncertainty about the number of COVID deaths and questioned the clarity of data from the CDC but did not explicitly claim that more deaths resulted from the vaccine than from the virus.
But Cassidy was not done yet; he continued grilling the HHS secretary for engaging in multiple lawsuits aimed at restricting access to the COVID vaccine.
'It surprises me that you think so highly of Operation Warp Speed when, as an attorney, you attempted to restrict access.'
RFK again sought to clear the air, 'I'm happy to explain why…'
Cassidy cut him off, saying he only had three minutes left for his questioning.
HHS did not immediately respond to the Daily Mail's request for comment.
The second most powerful GOP senator, John Barrasso of Wyoming, a former orthopedic surgeon, told the secretary frankly about his worry.
'In your confirmation hearings, you promised to uphold the highest standards for vaccines,' the Republican said. 'Since then, I've grown deeply concerned.'

Democrats called on Kennedy to resign and mentioned his past connections to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
'Mr. Kennedy calls himself a protector of children, some kind of rich claim, coming from someone who has flown on Jeffrey Epstein's private jet on multiple occasions,' Oregon Democrat Sen. Ron Wyden stated.
He also added that Kennedy 'shouldn’t be within a million miles of this job', his current role as HHS Secretary, due to his Epstein connections.
Kennedy did not comment on his ties to Epstein during the hearing, leaving Wyden's remarks unaddressed.
My friend Zorg, who is an intelligent gas from the planet Tralfalmadore, assures me that Kennedy is wrong on this one.
