SUPPORTING THE SCIENCE OR GIVING TRUMP AND RFK JR. THE FINGER ?

California, Oregon and Washington announced today the formation of a West Coast Health Alliance.  This group is allegedly intended to support medical science specifically with regards to vaccination products and policy.  That may be true.  It is also possible that it is simply an organized FUCK YOU to Donald Trump and RFK Jr.  Of course the two items are not mutually exclusive.

Presumably one of the things they intend is to develop a more-or-less legitimate medical organization that will continue to support mandatory vaccinations for rugrats in school.  

Under ideal conditions parents would be able to decide for themselves if their kid needed a vaccination or not, or for that matter whether they themselves needed a vaccination, after doing some research and some serious thinking.  Unfortunately a LOT of people can't do that or don't do that, thereby endangering the herd.  Witness recent outbreaks of whooping cough and measles in unvaccinated populations.  

Wouldn't it be nice if people could be counted on to rely on enlightened self-interest as well as genuine civic virtue to make their decisions?  

Dream on.
