President Joe Biden raised eyebrows — and a few alarms — Friday when he lavishly complimented a little girl on her appearance during remarks at a Virginia military base.

“I love those barrettes in your hair, man,” Biden said. “I tell you what, look at her, she looks like she’s 19 years old, sitting there like a little lady with her legs crossed.”

The girl in question, who appeared to be elementary school age, had joined her parents and two older brothers on the podium while her mother introduced the president at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Virginia.

Biden’s bizarre aside was noted and tweeted by The Post Millennial, causing a commotion on Twitter. 

“That’s pretty fucked up,” tweeted longtime Republican consultant Nathan Wurtzel, who joked in a subsequent tweet: “I guess this explains the Lincoln Project support.”

Other reactions were even more succinct.

“Um, wut,” tweeted RealClearPolitics co-founder Tom Bevan, while Ricochet editor-in-chief Jon Gabriel chimed in, “dude has issues.”

“Creeeeeeep!” reacted Fox News contributor Johnny “Joey” Jones, while Townhall.com senior editor Matt Vespa tweeted: “To Catch a Predator”.

“This is going to be his last straw,” conservative podcast host and Spectator USA contributor Stephen Miller captioned an image of Kathy Bates taking a sledgehammer to James Caan’s legs in the movie “Misery.” “We’re not going to see him [Biden] for the next two weeks.”

Biden has a long history of awkward encounters with girls and young women. In February, he told an Arizona nurse during a video conference that she looked “like a freshman” in college.

During his time as vice president, Biden became notorious for getting too close to women for comfort. During Ash Carter’s swearing-in ceremony as defense secretary in 2015, Biden stood behind Carter’s wife Stephanie, held her by her shoulders and occasionally whispered in her ear. Earlier that year, Biden whispered to the then-13-year-old daughter of Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) and gave her a kiss on the head after swearing in his fellow First Stater.

Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign was nearly ended before it began when in March 2019, former Nevada lawmaker Lucy Flores claimed the then-vice president grabbed her by the shoulders and kissed her hair during a Las Vegas campaign event in 2014. 

Days later, after three more women accused him of inappropriate contact, Biden released a video in which he promised to “be more mindful and respectful of people’s personal space.”

Kamala Harris' 'woke' joke about female Marines fell flat during her commencement speech at the US Naval Academy on Friday. 

The Vice President was the first woman to deliver the keynote commencement address at a Navy Academy ceremony, and she made sure to reference female empowerment as she spoke to the group of graduates. 

'You are electrical engineers who will soon help convert solar and wind energy into power, convert solar and wind energy into combat power,' she stated during the speech.  

'Just ask any Marine today, would she rather carry 20 pounds of batteries or a rolled up solar panel, and I am positive she will tell you a solar panel - and so would he'.

Harris subsequently burst into her trademark laugh after making the joke, but the reaction from the crowd was far more muted.

Some soft clapping ensued, but the joke was panned on Twitter, where video of the speech has been viewed more than half a million times. 

It comes just a week after jokes President Biden made at the Coast Guard graduation ceremony similarly fell flat. 

'As your commander in chief I've been looking forward to being able to do this for a long time. I want to keep the longstanding tradition: I hereby absolve all those serving restrictions [for] minor infractions – absolved'  the President told the crowd of graduates in New London, Connecticut. 

'You have no idea how much I wish you'd have been able to do that in my graduation,' he joked. 

'You all think I'm kidding. I'm not. Minor infractions like using a fire extinguisher to hose down a room assistant, but other than that ...' he said, alluding to a prank he carried out on his dorm advisor at the University of Delaware. 

When the crowd failed to respond he stated: 'You're a really dull class. I mean, come on, man, is the sun getting to you?'

A married pair of highly decorated Army colonels — one a former White House nurse — were gunned down in their front yard in Virginia during a dispute with two young men, cops say.

Suspected killers D’Angelo Strand, 19, and Ronnie Keandre Marshall, 20, were apparently after the couple’s son when they executed Dr. Edward McDaniel Jr., 55, and his nurse wife, Brenda McDaniel, 63, in the Fairfax County suburb of Springfield around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said

“Two pillars of our community — of our country, really — were gunned down viciously in their own front yard,” Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said at a press conference Thursday.

Two full colonels wer“e murdered in a residential neighborhood community. And for what? That’s what got us shaking our heads.”

Davis said the suspects worked with a relative of the couple and that the motive for the slayings involved some kind of “dispute.”

On Monday, two days before the heinous crime, Brenda McDaniel apparently called 911 to report a “burglary’’ and told the dispatcher that “the subject is after her son and that [the son] is with them upstairs,’’ NBC-TV reported.

The female caller said she and her husband had a shotgun and that the “subject’’ was in the basement, the outlet said.

The McDaniels were killed in what Davis called a “cold-blooded” crime at “point-blank range’’ two days later, with the killers driving off in a Nissan.

Cops launched a manhunt for their vehicle and spotted it in nearby Lorton around 7:20 a.m. Thursday — with Strand behind the wheel, police said, according to the Washington Post.

Officers took him into custody and nabbed Marshall less than seven hours later at a county intersection.

The pair was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony and are being held without bond at the Fairfax County jail.

Brenda McDaniel served in the Army from 1983 to 2009 and worked as the White House nurse during the Clinton administration, the Washington Post said.

She retired as a colonel after two stints in Iraq and winning numerous awards, including the Legion of Merit.

Edward McDaniel’s mother told the outlet that her son joined the Army in 1995 and also had done two tours of Iraq. His military medals included those for Meritorious Service, Army Commendation and National Defense Service and the Combat Medic Badge.

At the time of his murder, Edward was a doctor of internal medicine at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Virginia, where he served as the director of executive medicine, Army officials told the outlet.

Edward was set to retire from service in November but planned to keep working as a doctor, said his mother, Felicia McDaniel.

“They loved their country,” Edward’s mom told the Washington paper of the couple. “They loved their service. They loved the people who were their patients.”

Everything in Israel is about politics. But nothing is more intensely political than archeology. That's because the moment you stick a shovel in the earth of a place like Jerusalem and start digging, you are inevitably going to encounter Jewish history – and that is something that those who label Israel a colonialist enterprise intended to disinherit the "indigenous" inhabitants cannot abide.

 

That is why Eilat Mazar, one of Israel's most distinguished and important archeologists, remained controversial throughout her career. Mazar, a professor at the Hebrew University's Institute of Archeology who died this week at the age of 64, inspired critiques from professional colleagues who didn't share her interpretations of her work, as well as from Arabs who, as some told The New York Times in 2019, denied the entire existence of ancient Jewish history. Indeed, Mahmoud Abbas, the "moderate" head of the Palestinian Authority, has claimed that there was no biblical temple on what Jews call the Temple Mount, where Muslims subsequently built mosques, and that all Jewish ties to places like the Western Wall throughout their capital are fiction.

So denying the historicity of the finds that Mazar discovered at places like the City of David National Park aren't merely academic arguments, but go to the heart of attempts to delegitimize Israel's existence. Thus, although a scholar and not a politician, Mazar's work didn't just provide a fascinating look into Israel's ancient past. It's an essential part of the answer to those who deny Jewish rights anywhere in their homeland.

Mazar came by her interest in archeology naturally. She is the granddaughter of Benjamin Mazar, one of the pioneering figures in the field and a president of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She assisted him on his digs along the southern and western walls of the Old City, including the Ophel, the area between the City of David and the Temple Mount, in the 1970s, which was made possible by the reunification of the city in the 1967 Six-Day War.

But she would later become a major figure herself because of her own historic finds in what was the site of the city during the time of Davidic Kingdom some 3,000 years ago, just south of the current Old City walls in the area known as Silwan. Though her work spanned decades, she was principally known for discovering the site of what she believed to be King David's palace in August 2005.

When I interviewed her only a few days after her initial announcement, she described to me the long years of study, writing and preparation before the dig began. But as she said, "Once I started to excavate, it was as if I had written nothing. Now, the stones will speak, not me."

And speak they did.

What she found was the remains of what must have been a huge building for the era. When she dug underneath the structure, she found masses of pottery that could be dated to the 11th and 12th centuries BCE, what scholars call Iron Age I. That meant the building was constructed after that, which placed it exactly in the time of David. The dating of the material made it clear that it was not related to the Jebusite era.

Speaking of those scholars who have tried to argue that David is a historic myth created by the Hebrew bible, Mazar said her discovery proved that "this fantastic building is a big, obvious answer to those who say Jerusalem was an unimportant settlement."

Other artifacts she found there further substantiated her conclusions, including bullahs or seals that date to the First Temple era with the names of figures directly mentioned in the Bible, which also provide a rebuke to those who dispute the idea that the Bible is a book of Jewish history, as well as the foundation of Jewish and Christian faith. Those who wish to treat the Jewish presence in Jerusalem as an alien intrusion have no response to artifacts like those that mention a minister of King Zedekiah, as well as others that arguably may well have belonged to King Hezekiah and the Prophet Isaiah.

While her scholarship and the integrity of her digs could not be seriously questioned, many critics took exception to the fact that, like her famous grandfather, Mazar understood that the Bible was not merely a source of religious or literary inspiration. It was also a vital source of information about the history of the era. Indeed, it was through a reading of a crucial verse in the book of Samuel II (Chapter 5, Verse 17), that she decided that if David had gone down from where he was to his fortress, then Silwan was the spot where David's abode might be found.

Mazar tried to stay out of politics, but it inevitably intruded into her efforts.

She was a leader in the effort to stop the vandalism and desecration of the Temple Mount carried out by the Muslim Waqf, which administers it, when they excavated parts of the ancient site with bulldozers and then dumped the remains outside the city walls. She helped lead the effort to create a sifting project in which those precious remains were examined by volunteers; many important historical artifacts from the Temple periods were found, although it's clear that many more treasures were wantonly destroyed by the Waqf.

Mazar was also a voice seeking to preserve other archeological sites like Robinson's Arch, which encompasses parts of the Western Wall to the Temple. She also deserves credit for being willing to reach out to American Christians who love Israel and to help make them understand that preserving the Jewish history of Jerusalem was something important to their faith, too.

Today, visitors to the City of David can see the excavated structure that Mazar found, as well as a wealth of other material that she and other archeologists uncovered. But critics of her work aren't interested in these fascinating discoveries because anything that further establishes Jewish ties to the area infuriates local Arabs, who say this historical heritage is a hindrance to their efforts to redivide Jerusalem and establish a Palestinian state there.

The effort to delegitimize the work of Mazar and her colleagues at the City of David points to a basic problem: If you're going to deny Jewish rights to the place where David and his descendants ruled their ancient kingdom, then you can deny them anywhere in the country. And that is what Palestinians have continued to do. Their attempt to treat the City of David or even the Western Wall as Jewish myths, rather than the beginning of Jewish civilization, is inextricably linked to their refusal to recognize the legitimacy of a Jewish state, no matter where its borders might be drawn.

Mazar's colleagues have spoken of how she helped a new generation of archeologists establish their own careers, as well as how she helped blaze the trail for other women in a field that was once thought solely the preserve of men.

For post-Zionist Jews and anti-Zionist opponents of Israel, Mazar's amazing discoveries were a constant source of irritation. But she will be remembered long after them for her role in proving the authenticity of Jewish history. Thanks to her and the Americans who helped fund her work, denials of Jewish ties to Jerusalem remain the moral equivalent of flat-earth advocates. That's true even if they are legitimized by contemporary advocates of critical race theory and white privilege, which falsely seek to label Jews – the true indigenous people of the land that was once the biblical Kingdom of Judea – colonizers. May her memory be for a blessing.

‘I’ve lost count.’ Notorious Opa-locka police sergeant German Bosque fired for seventh time

German Bosque, the Opa-locka police sergeant who became notorious for repeatedly getting fired and getting his job back, has been canned yet again.

“I’ve lost count. I don’t know if it was the seventh or eighth time,” Bosque said when reached on Wednesday evening. “It’s a wrongful termination. Again, I’ll be getting my job back again.”

It’s actually the seventh time Bosque has been fired in the nearly 28 years he’s worked for Opa-locka police. He’s also been arrested, and cleared, three times — most notably, Bosque went to trial and beat allegations he unlawfully handcuffed and punched a youth counselor who wanted to file a complaint against him 

Opa-locka city manager John Pate, reached on Wednesday evening, declined to say why Bosque was fired. The city is expecting to issue a press release on Thursday.

The Herald has learned that Bosque is being fired after he delivered a tongue-lashing to an underling who failed to properly secure a crime scene.

It stems from a shooting that happened back in October, when a gun believed used in the incident was discovered under a boat in someone’s back yard in Opa-locka. Officer Luis Serrano was assigned to watch the gun until Miami-Dade detectives got there to process the scene. But Serrano, left to go to his police car briefly — and someone on the street took the gun and replaced it with a toy pellet gun.

According to Opa-locka, when Bosque arrived, he appeared to be coaching Serrano on lying to Miami-Dade police.

“What do we tell them you get to get in the car?” he asks, according to body-camera footage. When Serrano repeated that he’d gone to the car to look some paperwork, Bosque said “No. No. Something else, anything else ... you thought it was going to rain and you came to get a tarp.”

Bosque is also heard cursing and calling the gun switch an “embarrassment.” The department fired Bosque for breach of duty, failure to supervise and conduct unbecoming.

The South Florida Police Benevolent Association, which is representing Bosque, pushed back on the idea that he was trying to get his officer to lie. Bosque “expressed his displeasure. He’s heard on body camera, saying why did you go to your car? He may have used profanity,” said police union attorney Andrew Axelrad, who is representing the sergeant.

Axelrad pointed out that the officer who lost the gun was only given a reprimand.

“The idea that the department is going to terminate him for this is truly unbelievable ... I have very little doubt that he will be re-instated,” Axelrad said. “”This is more a function of his reputation.”

Like the city itself, Opa-locka’s police department is perpetually troubled — and Bosque is not the only officer with a checkered past to have gotten his job back.

Sergio Perez was fired after he got into a car chase in 2013 that ended when the suspect crashed into an SUV on Interstate 95, killing four tourists. But he later got his job back and is now a captain. Perez made the news last year when a family accused him of using excessive force in dragging a handcuffed teen out of a house.

As for Bosque, the controversial cop’s lengthy record and internal affairs file has earned him unflattering headlines from publications across the state. Most famously, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune wrote an exposé in 2011 that outlined his 18 years in law enforcement to that point as looking more like “a rap sheet than a resumé.”

The Herald-Tribune found that of Bosque’s 40 internal affairs complaints, 16 of them were for battery or excessive force. He’s been arrested three times. Once, before he was a cop. Another time in Broward County and a third time in 2013 for his alleged actions while on duty against the youth counselor. He was acquitted or the cases were dropped all three times.

In the most recent case, prosecutors said, Bosque in August 2011 punched the youth counselor after responding to a domestic dispute. Soon after, the man showed up at the police station to file a complaint. A dispatcher summoned Bosque, who was alleged to have grabbed the man’s cellphone, hurled it across the police lobby, pushed him up against the wall and handcuffed him.

Jurors acquitted Bosque of battery but convicted him of two felonies: witness tampering and false imprisonment.

The imprisonment charge didn’t hold up — Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Miguel de la O, while frowning upon Bosque’s behavior, ruled that prosecutors failed to prove Bosque acted without probable cause. He dismissed the charge. But the witness tampering charge was allowed to stand, and was eventually overturned by an appeals court.

The State Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute him again. An arbitrator eventually awarded Bosque his job back.

Bosque declined to comment on details of the latest firing.

“It’s sad because I love policing,” he said. “I don’t like corrupt cops. I hate when I’m portrayed as a dirty cop who slipped through the cracks.”

On the anniversary of the death of George Floyd, dozens of gunshots rang out in the middle of the day at George Floyd Square in Minneapolis, forcing reporters and bystanders to duck and cover. 

 

The symbolism was unmistakable—the yearlong bout of protest and activism after Floyd’s killing has coincided with a surge of urban crime that has made gunplay dismayingly common. 

 

Indeed, the intersection where Floyd was killed, now a memorial blocked to vehicular traffic, has become a watchword for mayhem, with frightened delivery drivers steering clear and periodic gun battles. 

 

The issue of public safety may be about to play its most significant role in our politics since the mid-1990s, the beginning of a decades-long decline in crime that steadily eroded its political salience. 

 

Donald Trump tried to make law and order a defining issue in 2020, but the rioting he so forcefully denounced was, in most places, too transitory to become an overwhelming issue. He was also in the awkward position of trying to run against disorder as an incumbent rather than a challenger, and his chaotic governing style wasn’t a good match for a message of orderliness. 

 

But now, more than a year into a serious crime wave, Democrats should beware—they are fooling themselves if they think they won’t be blamed for a rise in violence in Democratic-run cities that clearly, at some level, is a result of police forces feeling beleaguered and overwhelmed. 

 

Overall, murder increased by more than 25 percent in the United States last year, the biggest jump in 60 years. Murders jumped nearly 50 percent in New York City. Crime increased 36 percent in Los Angeles. And the story is the same in city after city.

BEING AN ASSHOLE CAN HAVE CONSEQUENCES

Vyvianna Quinonez, 28, has been banned for life by SouthWest Airlines.  A couple of days ago she apparently attacked a flight attendant because the flight attendant had the audacity to instruct her to instruct her to stay seated until the aircraft came to a full stop on the ground.  The flight attendant lost two teeth in the attack.

Quinonez is claiming self defense.  I guess she does not realize there are several pretty decent cell-phone videos of the encounter.  My guesstimate is that she will be lucky if the flight attendant does not sue her for assault and battery.  She will probably be easy enough to find as it seems likely she will be prosecuted by the feds for attacking a aircraft crew member, which is actually a pretty big deal. 

MARXIST BLM LEADER BAILS OUT AFTER PROPERTY SCANDAL

Patrisse Cullors, 37,  is one of the co-founders of Black Lives Matter.  She is a self-described Marxist.  It was recently revealed that she has purchased four residential properties, including a $1.4 million house in Malibu and a ranch in Georgia since her tenure with that organization, which cranked up in 2013.  She has just announced that she is leaving the organization.

She blames the heat on right-wing extremists.  She asserts that her departure from the organization has long been planned and that she has both a book deal and a television deal in the works.

The organization claims her total compensation during the eight years of organization has been around is $120,000.  BLM collected over $90 million in donations last year alone.  So far as I am aware she has not offered any explanation as to how she afforded close to $5 million in new property purchases on her legit income.

BILL COSBY DENIED PAROLE

Bill Cosby has applied for release from the slammer and been turned down.  Apparently he has refused treatment as a sexually violent predator and that was the reason quoted for his being left a guest of the state.  Too bad, so sad.

SOMELTHING INTERSTING HAPPENED IN MODESTO

On Thursday a solo Modesto P D officer had occasion to interact with a skeezy looking but rather large white boy over suspected auto burglaries.  The interaction went sideways and the cop and the suspect ended up rolling around on the ground.  The bad guy was trying, with some success, to access the cops pistol.  The cop yelled out for assistance at a young Hispanic woman who happened to be walking by.  She jumped in to help the cop, followed almost immediately by three or so fairly good-size men.  They helped the cop gain control of the situation.  The suspect looked like he had been dragged thru a four strand barbed-wire fence when it was all over.  

Middle America does not hate cops.  Quite the reverse in fact.

President Joe Biden's 2022 budget proposal is projecting an economic boom for 2021 that will carry over into next year - with trillions in proposed spending increases the administration says will propel growth through the decade. 

 

The budget office is projecting 5.2 per cent growth for the year, with strong growth continuing into 2022 at a projected 4.3 per cent growth rate before leveling off. 

 

Annual deficits, which spiked amid a flood of spending to counter the coronavirus, will come down - but the accumulated debt held by the public will reach $24 trillion this year - 109 per cent of the nation's Gross Domestic Product. 

 

The deficit would run $1.8 trillion for 2022, even with tax hikes targeted at the rich meant to bring in more revenue. The debt is set to rise over the decade, climbing to 112% in 2022, or $26 trillion. By 2031, the debt will climb to $39 trillion - or 117 per cent of GDP. That would top World War II levels of debt as a per cent of economic output. 

 

The budget anticipates spending rising throughout the decade, hitting $8.2 trillion in 2031. And it is predicting inflation will remain in check, even as prices shot up 3.6 per dent in April compared to last year, due in part to pandemic related supply issues. 

 

GOP reaction was swift and scathing. Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, the top Republican on the Appropriations Committee, called it a 'blueprint for the higher taxes, excessive spending, and disproportionate funding priorities.' 

 

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called it 'the most reckless and irresponsible budget proposal in my lifetime.'

A Canadian lawmaker has apologized after being caught urinating on camera during virtual parliamentary proceedings, just weeks after he appeared naked during a video call.

William Amos said the incident occurred on Wednesday while he was "attending House of Commons proceedings virtually in a non-public setting."

 

Amos is a federal Member of Parliament (MP) for Pontiac, Quebec for Canada's governing Liberal party.

 

"I urinated without realizing I was on camera," he said in a statement posted on Twitter, adding that he was "deeply embarrassed" by his actions.

 

"While accidental and not visible to the public, this was completely unacceptable, and I apologize unreservedly," Amos said.

 

This is the politician's second on-camera embarrassment in a matter of weeks. 

 

On April 14, he was spotted in a state of undress during a parliamentary video call. A screenshot from the call circulated widely online.

 

Fellow MP Claude DeBellefeuille, of the Bloc Québécois party, pointed out Amos' appearance at the time.

 

"We have seen a member during question period improperly dressed. That is, unclothed. So perhaps remind the members, especially the male members, that suits and ties are appropriate," said DeBellefeuille in French, according to the parliamentary translator.

 

Amos apologized at the time and called the April incident a "a really unfortunate mistake" that occurred as he changed into work clothes after a jog.

 

Wednesday's incident prompted him to go further. Amos is a lawmaker who also serves as parliamentary secretary to Canada's minister of innovation, science and industry.

 

"I will be stepping aside temporarily from my role as Parliamentary Secretary and from my committee duties so that I can seek assistance," Amos said.

 

He added that he would continue to serve as an MP.

 

The politician was previously an environmental lawyer and was first elected as an MP for Pontiac in 2015.

Shortly after the sadistic torture slaying and beheading of a convicted killer in a California prison, apparently at the hands of his cellmate, prison guards making their rounds reported that both men were alive, according to two new reports from the state inspector’s general office.

The reports on California lockups raise new questions about the heinous attack at Corcoran State Prison in March 2019 that has prompted investigations and a lawsuit by the family of the victim, Luis Romero, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.

Jaime Osuna, 31, is accused of using a makeshift knife to decapitate and dissect Romero, removing an eye, a finger and a portion of the man’s lung, state documents show.

One of the reports faults the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for conducting a shoddy investigation and delaying disciplinary action against the guards.

Why the officers did not discover the grisly scene earlier is not detailed in the reports, the Times said. But a lawsuit by Romero’s family says the bars were covered by a white sheet, suggesting the guards failed to make a thorough check of the cell.

The Department of Corrections disputed the findings of the reports, saying in a statement it had conducted a “thorough and complete investigation from the very beginning.”

The family’s lawsuit also questions why Romero was in a cell with Osuna, a convicted killer and “self-styled satanist” with a history of attacking his cellmates, according to the newspaper.

“The idea that my client had to sue in order to get basic questions answered about her son’s death is disheartening,” said Justin Sterling, the attorney for Romero’s mother.

The guards were meant to check the cell every so often, Sterling told the Times, and the crime would have taken hours to commit. If the guards had been doing their required checks, Romero would be alive today, he said.

Romero, who had spent 27 years in prison, was put in the cell with Osuna after arriving from Mule Creek State Prison, according to the lawsuit. He was convicted of second-degree murder after fatally shooting a woman in Compton when he was a teenager and associating with gang members. He was nearing parole eligibility.

His new cellmate, Osuna, was serving a life sentence for the killing and torture of Yvette Pena, 37, at a Bakersfield motel in 2011. With face tattoos and flair for Charles Manson-like satanic antics, he became a dark figure during the 2017 trial, mocking the victim’s family and bragging to a television news reporter of his love of torturing people.

Sometime in the early hours of March 9, 2019, Osuna methodically tortured and killed Romero, authorities said.

Using a razor-style blade attached to a handle, Osuna ultimately cut Romero’s head. He also posed the body, slicing Romero’s face open on either side of his mouth to resemble an extended smile, according to an autopsy.

Guards found Osuna wearing a necklace made of Romero’s body parts, the Times said.

Kings County Executive Assistant Dist. Atty. Phil Esbenshade called it the most heinous slaying he had ever seen. “We do believe that the victim was conscious during at least a portion of the time,” he said.

Osuna has been transferred to Salinas Valley State Prison’s psychiatric inpatient program. He has been diagnosed with unspecified schizophrenia spectrum, antisocial personality disorder and borderline personality disorder, according to the newspaper.

A judge has ruled that Osuna is not competent to stand trial for Romero’s death.

Cynthia Nixon believes desperate people who shoplift basic necessities should get a pass -- but her intended compassion is falling on deaf ears -- and the actress is getting hammered for it.

In a rather Robin Hood moment, Nixon tweeted, "The CVS on my corner has started locking up basic items like clothing detergent. As so many families can’t make ends meet right now, I can’t imagine thinking that the way to solve the problem of people stealing basic necessities out of desperation is to prosecute them."

Of course, what Nixon is saying is that people who can't afford necessary items and steal out of desperation shouldn't face criminal charges.

However, Twitter users took issue with her sentiment ... one user said, "I grew up poor, and we never took anything that we hadn't paid for. It's insulting that you think the less fortunate have no ability to discern right from wrong."

Another pointed out that in allowing theft, store would jack up prices, hurting more consumers and the market in general.

Nixon ran to become Governor of New York in 2018, but if she plans to dabble in politics again, this is one viewpoint she may want to leave out of her campaign.

A man who spent nearly 32 years in a Michigan prison on a wrongful murder conviction has been cleared by DNA evidence, authorities said.

Gilbert Lee Poole Jr., 56, walked out of a prison in Jackson Wednesday after an Oakland County judge vacated his 1989 murder conviction based on DNA evidence that excluded him from the scene of the fatal stabbing, according to the Innocence Project at Western Michigan University’s Cooley Law School.

“I have to say that I didn’t understand what was happening back in 1988 when I came to court to be tried for a murder that I didn’t commit,” Poole told the judge Wednesday. “At 22 years old, and a thousand miles away from anyone I knew, I kicked and screamed and stomped my feet and said this is not right.”

Poole was sentenced to life in prison for the June 1988 fatal stabbing of Robert Mejia, whose body was found near a running path in Pontiac. No suspects were identified until months later when Poole’s then-girlfriend implicated him in the murder and later became the key witness for prosecutors.

A dentist then linked Poole during his trial to a bite mark found on Mejia’s body — a type of evidence that has since been widely debunked by scientific and legal organizations, according to Poole’s attorney and Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.

“Mr. Poole’s conviction was based on unreliable evidence, including a bite mark comparison, which is not based on science,” attorney Marla Mitchell-Cichon of WMU’s Innocence Project said in a statement.

“I commend [Nessel] and her establishment of a conviction integrity unit that will investigate claims of innocence and uncover the truth.”

Several blood stains from the crime scene — as well one found on a stone embedded in Mejia’s body — did not match neither the victim nor Poole, but the evidence was never presented at trial by his legal counsel, Mitchell-Cichon said.

Nessel said in a statement she concurred with Poole’s attorney, saying bite mark analysis had been discredited and deemed unreliable in the years after her client’s conviction. Poole started serving his life sentence in June 1989.

The DNA found on Mejia’s body implicates an unknown person, Mitchell-Cichon and Nessel’s office said.

Poole, who was living in Pontiac at the time but is originally from North Carolina, thanked his supporters in court while telling Oakland County Circuit Judge Rae Lee Chabot he spent his time behind bars studying law, but was finding no way out of his nightmare.

“It wasn’t until I surrendered to a higher power and God stepped in and sent me a band of angels to look past the rules and regulations and looked to see who was standing in the furnace,” Poole said.

“I was standing in the furnace. I didn’t belong here. I have to thank each and every one of you, without you this wasn’t possible.”

They picked the wrong spot for a kidnapping.

A group of bumbling crooks were busted for allegedly forcing a victim into a car and holding him for ransom — just feet from an NYPD training center, police said Thursday

 

The would-be abductors allegedly lured the 19-year-old victim to New Utrecht Avenue and 72nd Street in Bensonhurst at 10 p.m. Wednesday after agreeing to buy his car on Facebook Marketplace, police said.

When he arrived, six brutes allegedly pushed him into a vehicle as one of them flashed a fake gun, according to cops.

They then blindfolded him and demanded $10,000 from his cousin over the phone for his safe return.

But the quick-thinking cousin traced the victim’s phone to the area as the kidnappers moved east, pinging it at Floyd Bennett Field — an NYPD training facility that’s often crawling with cops.

Officers from the 62nd and the 63rd precincts, along with city Parks Department police, rushed to the area and the alleged kidnappers were arrested at 11:50 p.m., according to police.

The six men were in custody Thursday afternoon with charges pending, according to the NYPD.

The victim reported a minor stomach injury.

A 26-year-old woman was busted Thursday for speeding through a line of cops in Brooklyn during a chaotic protest last year, cops said.

Samantha Botte was arrested and charged with assault, attempted assault, reckless endangerment, obstruction, unlawful fleeing and reckless driving, according to authorities.

Botte, in her 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis with the license plate “ANUTHA1,” allegedly sped away from cops at Smith Street and Atlantic Avenue on Oct. 27, 2020 during demonstrations over the Philadelphia police shooting death of Walter Wallace Jr.

Cops can be seen in the video trying to smash the sedan’s windows to stop the driver.

Police say two cops were hit by the car and suffered minor injuries.

The suspect accused of snatching a sleeping Dallas boy before allegedly killing him tried to kidnap another child just months earlier — but the girl’s grandfather decided not to press charges at the time, authorities say.

Alleged psycho teen Darriynn Brown — who is suspected of kidnapping and murdering 4-year-old Cash Gernon earlier this month — had barged into the home of the girl’s granddad in February and was rummaging around when the older man chased him out with a kitchen knife, according to officials.  

Brown, 18, then returned to the home, kicking in the garage door and punching the grandpa in the head — before grabbing the homeowner’s 2-year-old granddaughter as she slept, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by KTVT.

The terrified tot began crying, and the grandfather was able to wrestle her away from her would-be abductor, who then ran off again, authorities said. 

The girl’s grandfather did not want to press charges at the time and saw Brown weeks later at a Walmart — where the teen apologized for what happened, the station reported.

“He was sorry for breaking into the house and trying to take his grandchild,” the man told police.

Three days after Cash was found dead on a Dallas street while wearing only a pair of shorts, the girl’s grandfather met with child abuse detectives to say he now wanted to press charges in the incident, KTVT reported.

Brown was eventually charged with burglary of a habitation and injury to an elderly person in the Feb. 8 incident involving the little girl.

The teen, who has been described as an acquaintance of the ex-girlfriend of Cash’s father, is facing charges of burglary of a habitation and kidnapping in the boy’s abduction. Investigators have said they expect to file a capital murder charge against him following a forensic analysis, the Dallas Morning News reported.

He remained held Friday at the Dallas County Jail on $1,625,000 bail, records show.

Video shows the moment Brown allegedly abducted the boy from his Texas bedroom before returning to the home and hovering over the toddler’s twin brother, Carter.

A jogger found Cash’s body on May 15. The boy had been stabbed multiple times with an “edged weapon,” police said.

The Biden Administration May Be Sending the Wrong Signals to Hamas

For the first time since the Biden Administration entered the White House the highest-ranking US diplomat, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, came to Israel to discuss a range of issues with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli politicians among them Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi and Defense Minister Benny Gantz.

On top of the agenda was the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel and the effort to rebuild Gaza after the eleven-day war.

Blinken claimed that “Hamas’s foothold in Gaza could slip if the US-led rehabilitation (effort would be) successful.” He promised that the United States would address “the underlying causes” of the conflict meaning the lack of opportunities, optimism, and confidence he said. These were the underlying causes according to the American diplomat.

“If we do this right, reconstruction and then relief for the people of Gaza — far from empowering Hamas — has the potential to undermine it, Hamas thrives, unfortunately, on despair, on misery, on desperation, on a lack of opportunity,” Blinken thinks.

He conveniently forgot that this way of handling the situation in Gaza has been tried before and didn’t change it at all while Hamas continued ruling Gaza with an iron fist while using foreign and Israeli aid to build up its rocket arsenal and its military force.

Blinken, however, is confident that with help of the international community the US will be able to ensure that none of the aid delivered to Gaza will fall in the hands of Hamas.

The US Secretary of State first promised $75 million to the Palestinian Arabs in both Gaza and the territories under PA control but later reduced this sum to $38,5 million. At the same time he announced that the Biden Administration will re-open the US consulate in East Jerusalem a move that was met with opposition from the Israeli government.

Netanyahu didn’t address the measures the Biden Administration is taking vis a vis the Palestinian Arabs but instead thanked the administration for replenishing the Iron Dome missiles that Israel had to use to shoot down the rockets from Gaza.

The Israeli PM promised “a powerful response” whenever Hamas breaks the calm and said he had discussed with Blinken how to work together to “prevent Hamas rearmament with weapons and means of aggression.”

Netanyahu also briefly talked about peace with the Palestinian Arabs and said he agreed with President Biden that we’re not going to get peace until Israel is recognized by Arab countries as an independent Jewish state.

After visiting Jerusalem Blinken went on to pay a visit to PA leader Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.

There he was ‘welcomed’ by angry protesters who belonged to various Islamist movements. They shouted slogans against the US and called the superpower “the head of the snake” while they made clear that Blinken wasn’t welcome in the “land of Palestine”.

Blinken then went on by visiting Egypt where he met with President el-Sisi. He encouraged the Egyptian President to take upon himself the role of ‘honest broker in the negotiations that must lead to a permanent truce between Hamas and Israel.

Indeed, shortly after Blinken traveled to Jordan Egypt invited Hamas leaders to Cairo for talks about indirect negotiations with Israel. El-Sisi later invited the Israeli government as well for these indirect negotiations after which Netanyahu reluctantly accepted the invitation.

It becomes slowly clear that the Biden Administration is turning over the policy for a new approach toward the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

That policy was designed by Jason Greenblatt and Jared Kushner two Mid-East envoys of the Trump Administration and resulted in the so-called Abraham Accords, the peace agreement between Israel and several Arab Gulf States.

Biden said last week that only the two-state solution is a viable way to solve the hundred-year-old conflict with the Palestinian Arabs and he repeated that three times.

Blinken, however, stopped short of discussing a new peace initiative while meeting Israeli leaders. Instead, he focused on maintaining the truce with Hamas and on the rehabilitation of Gaza.

The US Secretary of State seemed to indulge in damage control after Biden officials compared Hamas’ rocket onslaught to an old dispute over Palestinian families in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah in the vicinity of the Old City of Jerusalem.

This dispute, which has led to numerous court hearings and was won by the Jewish owners of the houses in Sheikh Jarrah was used by Hamas as one of the fig leaves to start the recent war with Israel.

Biden policies toward the Palestinian Arabs, such as resuming the financial aid to the Palestinian Authority encouraged Hamas to enter into a new conflict with Israel experts in Israel say.

Hamas leaders saw that Biden was reversing Trump’s policies and understood that Israel had lost a great deal of the backing that the former President gave to Israel.

Towards the end of the war Biden even told Netanyahu that he was “done kidding around” and added that “Israel had to finish it”.

This was another wrong signal to Hamas that stepped up its rocket attacks on the Israeli population centers.

In fact, Biden made a similar mistake in the case of the Ansar-Allah or Houthi militia in Yemen. This Iranian-backed terror organization was taken off the US list of terror organizations in the naive expectation that it would moderate the Iranian proxy.

However, instead of having a moderating effect on Ansar Allah, the militia stepped up its attacks on Saudi Arabia.

By pressing Israel to enter into indirect negotiations with Hamas Biden is again playing with fire the same Israeli experts say.

Hamas will use these negotiations to get a foothold in Jerusalem while it is almost certain that the terror organization will not give in to the Israeli demand that Hamas releases the bodies of two IDF soldiers, who were killed during the 2014 war, as well as two Israeli hostages.

It’s fair to assume that Hamas will pay lip service to the international attempts to rehabilitate Gaza but it will never allow the oversight the Americans want because the organization knows that both the US and the international community don’t have the will to confront Hamas according to commentators in Israel.

Last year, Lockheed Martin Corporation, the nation’s largest defense contractor, sent white male executives to a three-day diversity-training program aimed at deconstructing their “white male culture” and encouraging them to atone for their “white male privilege,” according to documents I have obtained.

The program, hosted on Zoom for a cohort of 13 Lockheed employees, was led by the diversity-consulting firm White Men As Full Diversity Partners, which specializes in helping white males “awaken together.” The Lockheed employees, all senior leaders in the company, included Aaron Huckaby, director of global supply chain operations; retired Air Force lieutenant colonel David Starr, director of the Hercules C-130 military transport program; retired Air Force lieutenant general Bruce Litchfield, vice president of sustainment operations; and Glenn Woods, vice president of production for the Air Force’s $1.7 trillion F-35 fighter jet program. (Lockheed Martin did not return request for comment.)

At the beginning of the program, the diversity trainers led a “free association” exercise, asking the Lockheed employees to list connotations for the term “white men.” The trainers wrote down “old,” “racist,” “privileged,” “anti-women,” “angry,” “Aryan Nation,” “KKK,” “Founding fathers,” “guns,” “guilty,” and “can’t jump.” According to the participants, these perceptions have led to “assumptions about white men and diversity,” with many employees believing that white men “don’t care about diversity,” “have a classical perspective on history and colonialism,” and “don’t want to give away our power.”

The White Men As Full Diversity Partners team—Jim Morris, Mark Havens, and Michael Welp—framed the purpose of the training session as providing a benefit for white men who embrace the diversity and inclusion philosophy. In response to a prompt about “what’s in it for white men,” the participants listed benefits such as: “I won’t get replaced by someone who is a better full diversity partner,” “[I will] improve the brand, image, reputation of white men,” and “I [will] have less nagging sense of guilt that I am the problem.”

In a set of related resources, White Men As Full Diversity Partners lays out its theory of privilege. The firm’s founders, Welp and Bill Proudman, have argued that white males must “work hard to understand” their “white privilege,” “male privilege,” and “heterosexual privilege,” which affords them unearned benefits. The firm’s training programs are designed to assist white men in discovering the “roots of white male culture.” That culture, according to Welp and Proudman, consists of traits—such as “rugged individualism,” “a can-do attitude,” “hard work,” “operating from principles,” and “striving towards success”—which are superficially positive but are “devastating” to women and minorities.

At the Lockheed training, following the baseline exercises, the trainers proceeded with the “hearts and minds” portion of the session: deconstructing employees’ “white male privilege” through a series of “privilege statements,” then working to rebuild their identities as “agent[s] of change.” The trainers provided the participants with a list of 156 “white privilege statements,” “male privilege statements,” and “heterosexual privilege statements” to read and discuss, including: “My culture teaches me to minimize the perspectives and powers of people of other races”; “I can commit acts of terrorism, violence or crime and not have it attributed to my race”; “My earning potential is 15-33% higher than a woman’s”; “My reproductive organs are not seen as the property of other men, the government, and/or even strangers because of my gender”; “I am not asked to think about why I am straight”; “I can have friendships with or work around children without being accused of recruiting or molesting them.”

Finally, in order to cement the idea that white male culture is “devastating” to racial minorities and women, the trainers had the Lockheed employees read a series of “I’m tired” statements from fictitious racial minorities and women. The statements included: “I’m tired of being Black”; “I’m tired of you making more money than me”; “I’m tired of people disparaging our campaigns (like Black Lives Matter)”; “I’m tired of Black boys/girls being murdered”; “I’m tired of people thinking they’re smarter and more qualified than me”; “I’m tired of hearing about how we need a wall at the southern borders but not on the northern borders”; “I’m tired of the desire or comment to remove race—the concept that we should be ‘colorblind.’”

This is not the first time White Men As Full Diversity Partners has been involved in a controversial training program. Last year, I reported on the company’s white male training program for employees at the Sandia National Laboratories, which began a series of reports leading to President Trump’s Executive Order 13950, banning racial stereotyping, scapegoating, and discrimination in federal diversity programs. The Trump ban, however, was temporary; President Biden rescinded the order on his first day in office.

Today, it’s back to business as usual. Consultants such as White Men As Full Diversity Partners peddle fashionable racial theories and attach themselves to bloated government contractors such as Lockheed Martin. Presidents change, but for now the woke-industrial complex has no term limit.
