According to Fox News (who usually but not always gets it
right) the legislature of the formerly great state of California is
preparing a bill which, if passed into law, would specifically prohibit
retail store employees except those specifically designated as security
or loss prevention from interacting with known and suspected
shoplifters.
Maybe it's just me but this strikes me as a very stupid and very bad idea.
