There may be some small pieces of sanity emerging from the People's Republic of California.
There
is now a concerted effort under way, involving a lot of people in the
Democrat-Socialist power structure, to change some of the worst
stupidity of Proposition 47. That is the initiative that essentially
decriminalized shop lifting, including commercial shop lifting.
Anything up to $950 is a citable offense. That's it. Since it was
voted on by the people (most of who read nothing further than the title
of the description on the ballot, which is usually grossly misleading)
the legislature can NOT change it, the people must. There is a serious
push under way to do that this coming November.
In
addition the two-years old sliding scale for utility cost is maybe
going into he shitter, where it belongs. Under this plan relatively
poor people pay significantly less for energy ( natural gas and
electricity) than do middle-class or wealthy people. The SCREAMING over
this reached even the ears of the morons in Sacramento in the PUC and
legislature and there is a realistic chance that will change soon.
Baby steps.
