FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA

The blogger of hourglass1941 (http://hourglass1941.blogspot.com) had an enlightening blog right in line with my "Villains or Victims" (1-5-09) blog. Since the hourglass1941 blog speaks for itself, here it is:

Ohio State Professor Defends Hamas & Palestinian Supporters Equate Two State Solution to Ethnic Cleansing

Columbus, Ohio. Palestinian Anti-Israel Rally. Janauary 5, 2009.

Did anybody let President Bush and Condoleezza Rice know that Palestinians have no intentions of accepting a two state solution to the Middle East crisis? I guess it should be obvious since two states have been rejected by Hamas, and by extension, the Palestinian people, for years now, but U.S. leaders continue to cover their ears chanting lalalalala.

The chants last night, however, by about 300 Palestinians and supporters in front of the Statehouse in downtown Columbus made the goal very clear...Palestine will be free from the river to the sea and Long live the intifada. The buzz at the rally was Israelis are colonialists, illegally there, murderers, and genocidal maniacs.

Some of the speakers were children. One child, who looked to be around age 7 and proudly prompted by his mother, sounded this call: Go forward young Muslims, wherever you are, to the light of Allah. Together we shall stand for the pleasure of Allah. He will forgive us, all say Insha'Allah. Go forward young Muslims wherever you are.

Makes you wonder what needs forgiven. And pleasure of Allah? It can only be hoped that it's not the oft quoted Jew killing in this Islamic Hadith:

"Mohammed said in his Hadith: 'The Hour [Day of Resurrection] will not arrive until you fight the Jews, [until a Jew will hide behind a rock or tree] and the rock and the tree will say: Oh Muslim, servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him!'" - Palestinian Authority TV Dec. 27, 2004 [Rebroadcast from July 13, 2003]

When I asked spokesperson Pranav Jani, Assistant Professor (of English) at The Ohio State University (and introduced with some sort of connection with the International Socialist Organization) if Hamas was a terrorist organization, he skirted the issue or applied moral equivalence to the United States. Jani led the chant Long live the Intifada. The first Intifada in the late eighties spawned Hamas. Jana soundly rejects a two state solution to the conflict. He, and it seemed, all the Palestinians and supporters at the rally support a one state solution.

During the entire rally, I did not hear one speaker state that the overall conflict is specifically the result of Gaza or the West Bank. It is the sheer existence of Israel. My sense is that Palestinians will not embrace peace alongside Israel. They want all the land from the river to the sea. Many times the protesters chanted No Justice. No Peace. I think what they really meant is No Israel. No war.
