Representative John Conyers, the most senior sleazy toad in congress, is pulling the pin. He could no longer pretend to be a decent human being (not really a requirement to be a member of congress) after it became known he used government funds to pay hush money to women he had molested.
In a roughly similar vein former representative Corrine Brown (also a Democrat, a fact omitted from most news stories) was sentenced on Monday to five years as a guest of the people for fraud for using a "charity" she ran as a personal slush fund. The 71-year old will also have a modest term of probation after she gets out of the crossbar hotel, assuming she lives that long.
