Officials investigate fatal officer-involved shooting in southeast Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – An officer was involved in a deadly shooting Sunday night in southeast Oklahoma City.

The shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. near S.E. 59th Street and Sooner Rd.

According to police, the female officer was responding on a call where a man was lying in the grass outside of a neighborhood on S.E. 59th.

When the officer approached the suspect, he was uncooperative, so the officer used pepper spray on him.

The man then attacked her, striking her in the face, so the officer reached for her taser but the suspect stole it from her.

That is when authorities said the officer reached for her firearm and shot him.

The man died from his injuries.

“Hopefully, our officer is okay and, again, this is why we take the steps that we do. We have the training that we get and that we receive… and the equipment that we are able to utilize. You know, she used her pepper spray, she escalated to a taser and then ultimately she had to use her firearm,” said Captain Bo Mathews of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital for her injuries to her face and hands.

No suspect or officer identification information is being released at this time.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I’ve never heard a feminist claim that women are equal to men in physical strength. That’s why, unless she resorts to deadly force, a female cop is likely to get her ass whipped in a one-on-one physical confrontation with a man.
