TWO PARTING SHOTS ON TARGET

In announcing his coming resignation from the Senate, Al Franken took parting shots at Donald Trump and the Republican Party’s support of Roy Moore

As you know from my post DEFENDING AL FRANKEN (BGB 12-5-17, Big Jolly Times 12-4-17), I did not believe Franken should resign from the Senate. I was convinced that unlike other politicians and celebrities, he was not seeking sexual gratification when he engaged in sexual misconduct with women during photo-ops well before he became a U.S. Senator.

I still believe he was just being a comedic smartass. Newt Gingrich agreed that he should not resign, saying Franken was a comedian “and comedians do strange things.”

However, Franken threw in the towel after 13 Democratic women senators and minority leader Chuck Schumer called for his resignation. Another 18 Democratic male senators joined in the chorus.

Franken announced Thursday he will be resigning in the coming weeks. Speaking from the floor of the Senate, Franken took parting shots at Donald Trump and the Republican Party’s support of Roy Moore, saying:

“I, of all people, am aware that there is some irony that I am leaving while a man who has bragged on tape about his history of sexual assault sits in the Oval Office, and a man who has preyed on underage girls is running for the Senate with the full support of his party”

Ouch, both shots were on target!

In 2005, Trump was getting off an Access Hollywood bus with Billy Bush. Not knowing a mike was hot, he said:

“I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. I just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.”

Trump now claims the audio was faked, but Bush told The New York Times it was genuine.

It is also ironic that even though more than a dozen women accused Trump of sexual misconduct as he was campaigning for president, there was an absence of calls for him to drop out of the race.

As for Alabama senatorial candidate Roy Moore, the scumbag has been accused of sexual misconduct with teenage girls, including one who was only 14-years old when he was a 32-year old assistant district attorney. He belongs in jail, not in the senate.

Although Moore claims the women are all liars, his accusers appear to be credible. Where he denies ever knowing some of his victims, they have notes from him bearing his signature. Despite that, Moore has the support of Trump and the Republican Party. It’s all about the party preserving its majority in the Senate.

Franken may be departing, but he is not slinking off into the dark.

Al Franken is a malignant, narcissistic asshole. I would not make a large bet that he will actually leave the senate.

I've got that bumper sticker. "Grab 'em by the Pussy"! Not on my car, but I have it. It sounds like a motto.
