CHICAGO POLICE SUPERINTENDENT GIVEN THE HEAVE-HO

by Bob Walsh

Eddie Johnson was all set to retire in a few weeks anyway. He didn't get that far. He was fired yesterday by Mayor Lori Lightfoot for lying to the mayor.

You might remember a few weeks ago Johnson was found "sleeping" (passed out drunk) in his car. I guess the mayor didn't like the song and sang and the dance he danced while explaining himself.

The new interim police superintendent, Charlie Beck (of LAPD fame) will be taking over pretty much immediately rather than a few weeks down the road.

Back in October somebody called the cops on Johnson. When the cops rolled up on him he said that he had had an adverse reaction to a change in his medication, leading him to fall asleep in his city issued vehicle while on the way home from dindin.

EDITOR'S NOTE: What a shame. Chicago's mayor fired a pretty good police chief.

Most urban police chiefs are political hacks. Good riddance.

All I really know about his job performance is he stood up for his cops and his investigation in the Jesse Smollette thing.
