On this last Wednesday a 17-year old girl manged to penetrate perimeter security at the Fresno airport, sneak about a King Air 200, fire up one of the engines, taxi in a circle and crash into a building.
The young lady was "disoriented and uncooperative" when the cops pulled her out of the plane. The airplane was dinged, severely, as was the building.
She is being charged with theft of an aircraft.

In 1969 the local high school had a pilots license program as an elective. My sister obtained her pilots license at the ripe old age of 14.
I'm sure this seemed like a good idea at the time.
I can't help but wonder if a certain amount of controlled substance abuse was involved here.
Pilot's license program. That's cool. In CA now basic reading and basic math are optional. Studying the contributions of gay and transgender people to society is mandatory. You graduate if you do not commit a serious felony on school grounds during school hours.
