There
was a boxing event in Sacramento last night. The name of it was "Gunz
Down Gloves Up. North Side Edition." I guess it was trying to promote
the idea that beating people up was more acceptable than killing them.
At
any rate about 6:30 p.m. the cops were called to the warehouse where
the event was held in the Cannon Industrial Park. There
were several hundred people in an area where normally the only thing
going on at night was illegal side shows. That wasn't going on, but the
cops hung out anyway.
At
about 8 p.m. the crowd started streaming out of the building in a big
hurry and a police Sgt. who was at the scene responded into the
building. He shot and killed an armed man inside the building who had
been pointing a pistol at the crowd.
Neither the identity of the dead suspect nor a person who was shot in the leg at the scene were released.
