Ron Lee Klein Jr., 36, is by any reasonable definition an incompetent kidnapper. He entered a fenced back yard thru an unlocked gate in St. Petersburg, Florida in an attempt to grab a two-year old that was in the yard. The family dog spotted him and began to raise a fuss when he grabbed the kid. The boy's foster mother noticed the commotion and started yelling at Klein and began to chase him. He beat feet without the crumb snatcher. The cops got him a few blocks away.
Klein has been charged with felony attempted kidnapping and misdemeanor trespassing. During his initial court appearance on 12-29 bail was set at $151,000 (which seems low to me). He has not yet made bail.
He has a more than 15-year arrest history including trespass, resisting arrest with violence, battery on a peace officer and being a dumb shit. (I just made that last one up. Probably.) He copped to those charges from May 2023 and was sentenced to time served. He was just recently released. I guess he didn't learn his lesson.
