The rumor mill today said that "they" have heard that
Gavin Newsom is directing the CHP to provide a protection detail to
Kamala Harris now that the Secret Service is unloading her.
Thus far nobody who is in a position to KNOW one way or the other is agreeing to comment on the rumor.
Such
things are not cheap and, in the absence of an existing line item in
the budget it should be showing up SOMEWHERE. I am confident that, if
it is happening, somebody in the CHP will let it be known in the near
future.
