SACRAMENTO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT MAY GO BROKE

By Bob Walsh

School board members, union leaders, and community organizers from Spanish-speaking, South Asian, Hmong, and Black communities came together at the Serna Center to speak out against ICE deportations.

Sacramento City Unified School District board members, union leaders, and community organizers from Spanish-speaking, South Asian, Hmong, and Black communities came together at the school district administration building to speak out against ICE deportations, January 31, 2025.

The Sacramento City Unified School District spent $43 million more than it had last year.  Whoops.  They just received a letter from the Sacramento County Office of Education informing them that they must demonstrate their solvency or face takeover by the state, which probably would mean the county would take over operations.

I guess it must be nice to be allowed to play with OPM  (other people's money).  I guess it is kind of like Monopoly Money and isn't real, at least until it is real.  How the hell does even a fairly large organization get that far behind the eight ball if they are managed in even a half-way reasonable fashion?  (The answer is they don't.)

Some people need to have their butts thrown out of office.

If they spent more than they had, I'm fairly sure they are already broke.
