US Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro has allegedly intervened to stop FBI Director Kash Patel from firing four agents who worked on January 6 cases, according to a new report
Judge Jeanine Pirro has intervened to stop FBI Director Kash Patel from his latest firing spree.
The U.S. Attorney for Washington DC argued that firing the four veteran FBI agents would hamper progress on their ongoing cases, sources told the New York Times.
This move sets up the latest showdown between two people President Donald Trump handpicked to crack down on crime – Pirro as a former Fox News host who is now prosecutor in the nation's capital and Patel as the top nationwide law enforcement official.
And it's just the latest in a string of tensions within the administration.
Patel has also had his fair share of disagreements with his boss Attorney General Pam Bondi over how to handle high profile cases like the Jeffrey Epstein files. And regarding immigration policy Trump's Border Czar Tom Homan and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem have also clashed.
The FBI has been under a microscope of the new administration with critics claiming Patel was brought in to clear out any of Trump's 'enemies' within the agency.
Just this week, four agents who worked on former Special Counsel Jack Smith's team investigating Trump were told that they were being terminated from their jobs with the FBI. But it appears their departures from the agency are now on hold because of Pirro.
It was just the latest firings by Patel of agents who worked on cases related to the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
The agents whose terminations are now reversed are among the dozens who have been targeted for working on cases involving individuals who participated in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot
Reuters named the agents as Jeremy Desor, Jamie Garman, Blaire Toleman and David Geist.
Desor in particular was targeted in recent days on social media after Republican Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley publicized 1,000 pages of subpoenas from Smith's investigation, which proved Trump's attempts to stay in power after losing the 2020 presidential election.
Toleman and Geist had their firings reversed after they were issued by Patel's FBI, Reuters reported on Monday. And sources claimed that several other agents were fired Monday but had their terminations rescinded.
The FBI did not respond to a request for comment and the DOJ referred the Daily Mail to the US Attorney's office for DC, which also did not immediately respond.
Dozens of FBI agents, prosecutors and other personnel who worked on Smith's investigation or handled cases involving in the January 6 attack have been fired from the Justice Department since Trump took office.
Grassley told Reuters that he is releasing information about agents working these cases because 'the public has a right to know how the government's spending their hard-earned tax dollars, and if agents were engaged in wrongdoing they ought to be held accountable.'
'Transparency brings accountability,' he insisted.
The latest action could set up a showdown between Patel and Pirro – both of whom were handpicked by Trump to crackdown on crime in the country and nation's capital
Patel has already raged against the silence of 'supposed allies' after they did not rush to his defense amid allegations he improperly used a government jet to attend an event with his girlfriend Alexis Wilkins amid the government shutdown.
Additionally, it's been widely reported by the Daily Mail and other outlets that there are tensions between the leadership at FBI and the DOJ.
It appears the latest action by Pirro could set up even more interagency showdowns.

It is my understanding that the agents in question were unfired, and then fired again less than 24 hours later. I guess there is some friction in Trumpland.
Jeanine Pirro is not to be f*cked with.
