If you read the comments on my post POLICE SHOOTING OF AN UNARMED NAKED PERSON IS JUSTIFIABLE (1-18-11), you should have noticed that my critic identified himself as ‘NoJusticeNoPeace.’ No Justice, No Peace also happens to be the slogan of poverty pimp Al Sharpton’s National Action Network. NoJusticeNoPeace actually believes the preposterous claim that Reggie Doucet was running around the street stark naked because he had given every stitch of his clothing to a cabbie as security for the cab fare.
The recent shooting of unarmed naked Reggie by LAPD officers raised questions about when cops can use deadly force.
The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, in the case of Scott v. Henrich (9th Cir. 1994) 39 F.3d 912, spelled out the circumstances under which police officers may use deadly force:
__…police may use only such force as is objectively reasonable under the circumstances. An officer's use of deadly force is reasonable only if “the officer has probable cause to believe that the suspect poses a significant threat of death or serious physical injury to the officer or others.” All determinations of unreasonable force “must embody allowance for the fact that police officers are often forced to make split-second judgments – in circumstances that are tense, uncertain, and rapidly evolving – about the amount of force that is necessary in a particular situation."
The use of deadly force by a private citizen is also justified if he is resisting attempts by an assailant to inflict serious bodily injury or death on his person.
The use of deadly force is not dependent on whether a person is armed or unarmed, naked or clothed, drunk or sober, high on drugs or not, or mentally ill or of sound mind. When officers are forced to fight with someone who is overpowering them to the extent that he is about to inflict serious bodily injury or kill them, they have every right to protect themselves by resorting to deadly force. And when any person tries to take a cop’s gun, the officer has every right to believe that his own weapon will be used to kill him right then and there.
No police officer ever reports for duty wanting to kill anyone, unless it’s someone who has killed another cop. So to all of you second guessers who are always so quick to condemn cops whenever they resort to the use of deadly force, give it a rest!

Court documents imply that Stauts is a member of a violent girl gang called the Get It Boys Click, or GIB. Two of the Stauts' alleged victims have reported ongoing problems with the GIB, including the victim in the latest incident, which took place after midnight on New Year's at and in front of the Exclusive Lounge in the 3100 block of Fountainview.
According to the report, Stauts attacked her victim near the dance floor. Stauts, whom the victim has further alleged to have bullied her at Houston Community College, is reported to have walked across the club and pushed the woman for no reason. Stauts and the woman then started arguing, whereupon Stauts attempted to clock the woman with a beer bottle. Bouncers then ejected Stauts and four of her friends, while the woman remained in the club until the coast was clear.

Although the woman waited an hour for Stauts and her girls to split, evidently the GIB has little better to do than lay in wait, even in the wee hours of New Year's Day. As the woman crossed the parking lot across the street from the club, several cars converged on her and disgorged some 15 girls, who surrounded the victim.
Stauts was among them and is alleged to have been screaming "Come and get your papers" to her victim. (We don't know what that means either.) The report then states that Stauts stripped off her shirt and slipped her fist into a set of black brass knuckles and punched her victim in the face several times, causing "extreme pain" and bloodshed.
Then the woman reports being held on the ground by some of the other girls while Stauts continued working her over. She also reported that a significant amount of her hair was ripped from her scalp.
After the attack was over, she was taken to a hospital where she received several stitches.
She is just the latest victim. Stauts is accused of beating another woman with knuckles back in June, and in May, court records state that she pulled a knife on a third woman in her own driveway, who backed her down by whipping out a pistol.
That woman had reported that one of Stauts's buddies had beaten her up, and Stauts was reportedly out for revenge: she is alleged to have shown up in the woman's driveway hollering "Yeah bitch, we been waiting for you, we finna kill you, step our here in the street."
As of now, all three of these cases are hanging over Stauts' head. She is currently being held without bond in the Harris County Jail.

THAT TV REMOTE AND THE GARAGE DOOR CLICKER ARE ABOUT ALL US SENIORS CAN HANDLE
I’m an octogenarian who, after several years of trying to figure the damn thing out, still can’t use most of the features on my Dish TV remote control. But I do know how to make the clicker open and shut my garage door.

When I bought my Blackberry I thought about the 30-year business I ran with 1800 employees, all without a cell phone that plays music, takes videos, pictures and communicates with Facebook and Twitter. I signed up under duress for Twitter and Facebook, so my seven kids, their spouses, 13 grandkids and 2 great grand kids could communicate with me in the modern way. I figured I could handle something as simple as Twitter with only 140 characters of space.
That was before one of my grandkids hooked me up for Tweeter, Tweetree, Twhirl, Twitterfon, Tweetie and Twittererific Tweetdeck, Twitpix and something that sends every message to my cell phone and every other program within the texting world.
My phone was beeping every three minutes with the details of everything except the bowel movements of the entire next generation. I am not ready to live like this. I keep my cell phone in the garage in my golf bag.
The kids bought me a GPS for my last birthday because they say I get lost every now and then going over to the grocery store or library. I keep that in a box under my tool bench with the Blue tooth [it's red] phone I am supposed to use when I drive. I wore it once and was standing in line at Barnes and Noble talking to my wife and everyone in the nearest 50 yards was glaring at me. I had to take my hearing aid out to use it, and I got a little loud.
I mean the GPS looked pretty smart on my dash board, but the lady inside that gadget was the most annoying, rudest person I had run into in a long time. Every 10 minutes, she would sarcastically say, "Re-calc-u-lating." You would think that she could be nicer. It was like she could barely tolerate me. She would let go with a deep sigh and then tell me to make a U-turn at the next light. Then if I made a right turn instead. Well, it was not a good relationship.
When I get really lost now, I call my wife and tell her the name of the cross streets and while she is starting to develop the same tone as Gypsy, the GPS lady, at least she loves me.
To be perfectly frank, I am still trying to learn how to use the cordless phones in our house. We have had them for 4 years, but I still haven't figured out how I can lose three phones all at once and have run around digging under chair cushions and checking bathrooms and the dirty laundry baskets when the phone rings.
The world is just getting too complex for me. They even mess me up every time I go to the grocery store. You would think they could settle on something themselves but this sudden "Paper or Plastic?" every time I check out just knocks me for a loop. I bought some of those cloth reusable bags to avoid looking confused, but I never remember to take them in with me.
Now I toss it back to them. When they ask me, "Paper or Plastic?" I just say, "Doesn't matter to me. I am bi-sacksual." Then it's their turn to stare at me with a blank look. I was recently asked if I tweet. I answered, No, but I do toot a lot."

MAINTENANCE MAN'S HAND-JOBS NOT APPRECIATED

Four tenants had said that they had kicked him out of their units after he had crudely come on to them. A fifth tenant said his behavior was even worse: She claimed that Diaz had masturbated in her bathroom and left her toilet seat a sticky mess. (Those workmen -- always leaving us to clean up after them.)
But if even that was not enough to get Diaz fired, we're thinking the latest incident will suffice.
According to police reports, on Wednesday, Diaz gained entry to an apartment after claiming that he needed to fix the dishwasher. Once inside, he allegedly attempted to rape an 18-year-old woman as she slept in her bed.
Diaz had already pulled off the woman's shorts when her female roommate heard screams. The heroic roommate picked up her husband's .45 and burst into the bedroom. Once he saw the hot fire in the roommate's eyes and the cold steel in her hand, Diaz realized that his predations were at an end. He beat a retreat, but was soon picked up by the cops.
After his arrest, the victim pointed Diaz out in a police lineup. The 34-year-old is currently in the Angelina County Jail facing a charge of attempted sexual assault, a third-degree felony.

A customer who complained about being short-changed by seven cents was beaten to death by the store owners, it has been alleged.
The savage attack, in Miami, Florida, was carried out in front of an off-duty prison officer who had tried to halt the row at the store.
As the officer led Akil Larue Oliver away from the dispute with brothers Nabil and Ragheb Sulaiman they apparently attacked him.
Nabil smashed him over the head with a bottle while his older brother hit him with an iron crowbar.
The blow proved fatal and 34-year-old Mr Oliver died at the scene.
Nabil, 19, was due to surrender his passport this week ahead of his trial on charges of aggravated assault.
But he has fled the U.S. and is believed to have returned to the Middle East.
His brother, 24, remains in prison awaiting trial on charges of second degree murder.
Relatives of the victim as well as Miami officials have expressed outrage that the suspect was able to flee the country.
'I stand with the family and the community in expressing my outrage at the fact that Nabil Sulaiman was allowed to flee the country,' Miami County Commissioner Dennis Moss said.
'The family and the community have gone through enough as a result of this tragic event, and having one of the defendants not answer to the allegations in this case, just adds insult to injury.'
The fatal attack took place in November at the Quick Shop Food Store run by the brothers in Miami.
After buying some food, Mr Oliver believed he had been short-changed.
Other customers said he hurled racist remarks at the brothers, as well as derogatory remarks about their mother and telling them to go back to their own country.
The off-duty prison officer tried to break up the row by escorting him out of the store.
But he returned to continue the argument and was attacked as he was escorted out for a second time.
His killing led to daily demonstrations outside the Sulaimans' shop.
The older brother was denied bail, but his younger brother posted $10,000 bond.
Prosecutors had planned to put Nabil on trial in April, but are now consulting with the State Department to seek an extradition warrant.

WELLINGTON - A NEW ZEALAND woman was temporarily partially paralysed by a 'love bite' on her neck from her amorous partner, doctors reported in the New Zealand Medical Journal.
The 44-year-old woman went to the emergency department of Middlemore Hospital in Auckland last year after experiencing loss of movement in her left arm while watching television, the journal reported.
Doctors concluded the woman had suffered a mild stroke but were puzzled about its cause until they found a small vertical bruise on her neck near a major artery, a love bite, or 'hickey', she received a few days earlier.
'Because it was a love bite there would be a lot of suction,' one of the doctors who treated her, Teddy Wu, told the Christchurch Press.
'Because of the physical trauma it had made a bit of bruising inside the vessel. There was a clot in the artery underneath where the hickey was.' Dr Wu said the clot dislodged and travelled to the woman's heart, where it caused a minor stroke that led to the loss of movement.
'We looked around the medical literature and that example of having a love bite causing something like that hasn't been described before,' he said. The medic said the woman recovered after being treated with an anti-coagulant. -- AFP

Doctors concluded the woman had suffered a mild stroke but were puzzled about its cause until they found a small vertical bruise on her neck near a major artery, a love bite, or 'hickey', she received a few days earlier.
'Because it was a love bite there would be a lot of suction,' one of the doctors who treated her, Teddy Wu, told the Christchurch Press.
'Because of the physical trauma it had made a bit of bruising inside the vessel. There was a clot in the artery underneath where the hickey was.' Dr Wu said the clot dislodged and travelled to the woman's heart, where it caused a minor stroke that led to the loss of movement.
'We looked around the medical literature and that example of having a love bite causing something like that hasn't been described before,' he said. The medic said the woman recovered after being treated with an anti-coagulant. -- AFP

ILLINOIS LEGISLATURE THROWS BABY OUT WITH THE BATH WATER
I would expect nothing less from the most liberal newspaper in the U.S. than its on-going campaign against the death penalty.
There is no question in my mind that capital punishment serves as a deterrent against premeditated murders and against murders committed during the commission of a felony such as a rape, kidnapping, robbery or burglary.
I am sure innocent persons have been executed and that is an enormous tragedy. I most certainly do not want to see an innocent person executed no matter how bad his criminal record might be. But instead of doing away with a valuable preventive tool, lets make sure that the defendant in a capital case is given every opportunity to prove his innocense.
My friend Jay, who forwarded me this Times editorial, asks: When are we going to see [state senator] Rodney Ellis's proposed legislation on Eyewitness/Photo ID procedures ; mandatory taping of interogations/confessions, etc. passed by the [Texas] legislature?
Those are worthwhile measures but the key to a proper defense is the service of excellent attorneys in the defendant’s behalf. That’s why I have long held that defendants in a capital case who cannot afford the best of attorneys be provided a defense team with investigators and the ability to call expert witnesses, all at the state’s expense and no matter the cost. That would not only ensure a good defense in all capital cases, but the cost would also keep prosecutors from seeking the death penalty for all but the worst murderers.
Instead of taking steps to ensure a good defense for capital murder defendants, the Illinois legislature elected to throw the baby out with the bath water. I can only hope that Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn does not, contrary to the wishes of The New York Times, sign the legislation outlawing capital punishment. The death of that bill would put the safety of the Illinois public ahead of the concerns of do-gooders.

Gov. Pat Quinn, who has sent mixed signals in the past, should quickly sign the legislation into law.
Former Gov. George Ryan declared the moratorium in 2000 in the face of a running scandal of faulty trials that cost innocent inmates their lives. Three years later, Mr. Ryan stunned the nation by commuting 167 death row felons to life terms and calling for a hard look at the business of state-sanctioned death. (Mr. Ryan subsequently went to prison for statehouse corruption, but the flaws of capital punishment remained clear, as dramatically confirmed now by the Legislature.)
Under prodding from outside investigators, the state has had to free 20 inmates from death row since 1987. It has also enacted some commendable reforms. These included mandatory taping of interviews with homicide suspects — a measure that followed tales of torture in notorious Chicago precinct houses.
But other vital reforms to clean up forensic lab abuses and stage-managed witness identifications were rejected. And for all the official study, caution and reforms of the past decade, the Legislature found the system still riddled with risk and doubt.
Fifteen inmates are now on death row under the open-ended moratorium as prosecutors continue to pursue capital punishment. Most recently, two condemned men convicted on the basis of confessions were exonerated by DNA evidence.
Governor Quinn said last fall that he supported the moratorium as well as capital punishment “applied carefully and fairly.” Illinois’s own experience has shown why that is not possible. Most modern nations, and 15 states in this country, have rightly abandoned the barbarism of state executions. The sanctity of human life and the honor of the state require Governor Quinn to lead Illinois beyond its wrenching history of wrongful death-row convictions.

DRUG CARTELS ARE UNLIKELY TO FIGHT THE ARMIES OF MEXICO AND GUATEMALA ONLY WITH WEAPONS FROM TEXAS GUN SHOPS
There is no way in hell that the Mexican drug cartels can battle the Mexican and Guatemalan armies with weapons that have been smuggled to them from gun shops and gun shows in Texas. It is just not logical to believe that ‘straw buyers’ can buy the quantity and sophisticated military weapons used by the cartels from gun shops and gun shows. The 'state of siege' declared by the president ends on Wednesday but soldiers have already begun to return to their barracks and few army patrols are still operating in small towns terrorized by Mexico's feared Zetas drug gang.
As Mexico's escalating drug war spills over into Central America, Guatemala is struggling to block hugely powerful cartels from destabilizing areas of the country, a poor but democratic U.S. trading partner and a major coffee and sugar exporter.
"Organized crime is not just infiltrating us, it pains me to say it but drug traffickers have us cornered," Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom told Congress last week. "Just the weapons seized in Alta Verapaz are more than those of some army brigades."
Before Colom ordered the military operation, the Zetas were operating with impunity in Guatemala, undermining Mexico's battle against drug cartels. Officials worry Central America's weak governments are unable to contain the spreading threat of cartels in the region.
The United States is pumping $1.4 billion into the region to help governments attack drug gangs, but most of the funds are earmarked for Mexico. There, turf wars between gangs and attacks on cartels by the government have killed more than 34,000 people in the four years since President Felipe Calderon launched his own military-backed war on cartels. Less than a fifth of U.S. funds go to Central America and the Caribbean.
Patrolling in Alta Verapaz with armored cars, Guatemalan soldiers have found tortured bodies, luxury cars, assault weapons and an air strip used by drug gangs in the mountainous, coffee-growing state north of the Guatemalan capital.
They arrested at least 22 men accused of working for the Zetas, who officials say are operating in three-quarters of Guatemala's territory, a smuggling corridor for South American cocaine. Criminals have long collaborated with Mexican gangs but during the past few years the cartels have begun to move in more permanently, extorting businesses and corrupting locals.
LATENT THREAT
The army says it made important progress in Alta Verapaz, after dozens of drug-related killings late last year. "But there's still a latent threat," Colonel Marco Tulio Vasquez, head of anti-drug operations in the state, told Reuters in the town of Coban.
While the siege could be extended or troops sent elsewhere, Guatemala's army remains weak and underfunded, limiting its ability to echo Mexico's war on traffickers.
Peace accords in 1996 that ended 36 years of fighting between leftist rebels and government forces ordered the army be slashed in size, dwindling from a 50,000-strong force to just 17,000 soldiers today. Dozens of military bases, including one in Alta Verapaz, were closed.
Soldiers earn as little as $150 a month and are hired on a temporary basis. Troops often switch sides, swayed by high salaries offered by the drug cartels. The Zetas, originally formed by Mexican army deserters, have been known to recruit elite Guatemalan troops known as Kaibils who are trained in jungle warfare and infamous for brutal civil war-era abuses.
The army is more trusted than Guatemala's notoriously corrupt police, but many people are highly suspicious of men in uniform as the military struggles to shake its dark past.

WHAT WAS THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION THINKING?
The Obama administration is either ignorant of the significance in allowing the Palestinian Authority to fly its own flag in our nation’s capital or it is giving its de facto recognition of a Palestinian state in keeping with the president’s pledge of reaching out to the Muslim world. I seriously doubt the administration was ignorant of the Palestinian flag symbolism.

Speaking to the press in Jericho during his visit to the Palestinian Authority, Russian President Dimitry Medvedev noted that Russia had already recognized a Palestinian state when Yasser Arafat first declared independence in 1988.
“We have supported the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital since the last century, and we still support it,” said Medvedev.
Palestinian officials declared Medvedev’s remarks to be “historic” and graciously thanked Russia for joining the chorus of voice recognizing a Palestinian Arab state in the absence of a peace agreement with Israel.
The Russian leader’s statement was “an historic move to make the Palestinians proud for a very long time to come,” said chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat.
Medvedev’s visit was also notable as it was the first time that the leader of a major world power had visited only the Palestinian Authority without first touring Israel and meeting with its leaders. Medvedev backed up his words by actually treating the Palestinian Authority as a sovereign state.
Hours later, the Obama Administration allowed the Palestinians to raise their flag over the Palestinian Authority diplomatic mission in Washington for the first time ever, symbolically transforming the location into a national embassy.
Republican officials were furious with the move.
Voicing the concern of many, including many in Israel, Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Florida) noted that “raising this flag in DC is part of the Palestinian leadership’s scheme to manipulate international acceptance and diplomatic recognition of a yet-to-be-created Palestinian state, while refusing to directly negotiate with Israel, or accept the existence of Israel as a democratic, Jewish state.”

Nicolai Sennels is a Danish psychologist who has done extensive research into a little-known problem in the Muslim world: the disastrous results of Muslim inbreeding brought about by the marriage of first-cousins.
This practice, which has been prohibited in the Judeo-Christian tradition since the days of Moses, was sanctioned by Muhammad and has been going on now for 50 generations (1,400 years) in the Muslim world.
This practice of inbreeding will never go away in the Muslim world, since Muhammad is the ultimate example and authority on all matters, including marriage.
The massive inbreeding in Muslim culture may well have done virtually irreversible damage to the Muslim gene pool, including extensive damage to its intelligence, sanity, and health.
According to Sennels, close to half of all Muslims in the world are inbred. In Pakistan, the numbers approach 70%. Even in England, more than half of Pakistani immigrants are married to their first cousins, and in Denmark the number of inbred Pakistani immigrants is around 40%.
The numbers are equally devastating in other important Muslim countries: 67% in Saudi Arabia, 64% in Jordan, and Kuwait, 63% in Sudan, 60% in Iraq, and 54% in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar .
According to the BBC, this Pakistani, Muslim-inspired inbreeding is thought to explain the probability that a British Pakistani family is more than 13 times as likely to have children with recessive genetic disorders. While Pakistanis are responsible for three percent of the births in the UK , they account for 33% of children with genetic birth defects.
The risk of what are called autosomal recessive disorders such as cystic fibrosis and spinal muscular atrophy is 18 times higher and the risk of death due to malformations is 10 times higher.
Other negative consequences of inbreeding include a 100 percent increase in the risk of stillbirths and a 50% increase in the possibility that a child will die during labor.
Lowered intellectual capacity is another devastating consequence of Muslim marriage patterns. According to Sennels, research shows that children of consanguineous marriages lose 10-16 points off their IQ and that social abilities develop much slower in inbred babies. The risk of having an IQ lower than 70, the official demarcation for being classified as "retarded," increases by an astonishing 400 percent among children of cousin marriages.
(Similar effects were seen in the Pharaonic dynasties in ancient Egypt and in the British royal family, where inbreeding was the norm for a significant period of time.)
In Denmark, non-Western immigrants are more than 300 percent more likely to fail the intelligence test required for entrance into the Danish army.
Sennels says that "the ability to enjoy and produce knowledge and abstract thinking is simply lower in the Islamic world." He points out that the Arab world translates just 330 books every year, about 20% of what Greece alone does.
In the last 1,200 years of Islam, just 100,000 books have been translated into Arabic, about what Spain does in a single year. Seven out of 10 Turks have never even read a book.
Sennels points out the difficulties this creates for Muslims seeking to succeed in the West. "A lower IQ, together with a religion that denounces critical thinking, surely makes it harder for many Muslims to have success in our high-tech knowledge
societies."
Only nine Muslims have every won the Nobel Prize, and five of those were for the "Peace Prize." According to Nature magazine, Muslim countries produce just 10 percent of the world average when it comes to scientific research (measured by articles per million inhabitants).

Because Muslims' religious beliefs prohibit marrying non-Muslims and thus prevents them from adding fresh genetic material to their population, the genetic damage done to their gene pool since their prophet allowed first cousin marriages 1,400 years ago are most likely massive. (This has produced) overwhelming direct and indirect human and societal consequences.
Bottom line: Islam is not simply a benign and morally equivalent alternative to the Judeo-Christian tradition. As Sennels points out, the first and biggest victims of Islam are Muslims. Simple Christian compassion for Muslims and a common-sense desire to protect Western civilization from the ravages of Islam dictate a vigorous opposition to the spread of this dark and dangerous religion. These stark realities must be taken into account when we establish public polices dealing with immigration from Muslim countries and the building of mosques in the U.S.

A HUGE MUSLIM PROBLEM: INBREEDING

Nicolai Sennels is a Danish psychologist who has done extensive research into a little-known problem in the Muslim world: the disastrous results of Muslim inbreeding brought about by the marriage of first-cousins.
This practice, which has been prohibited in the Judeo-Christian tradition since the days of Moses, was sanctioned by Muhammad and has been going on now for 50 generations (1,400 years) in the Muslim world.
This practice of inbreeding will never go away in the Muslim world, since Muhammad is the ultimate example and authority on all matters, including marriage.
The massive inbreeding in Muslim culture may well have done virtually irreversible damage to the Muslim gene pool, including extensive damage to its intelligence, sanity, and health.
According to Sennels, close to half of all Muslims in the world are inbred. In Pakistan, the numbers approach 70%. Even in England, more than half of Pakistani immigrants are married to their first cousins, and in Denmark the number of inbred Pakistani immigrants is around 40%.
The numbers are equally devastating in other important Muslim countries: 67% in Saudi Arabia, 64% in Jordan, and Kuwait, 63% in Sudan, 60% in Iraq, and 54% in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar .
According to the BBC, this Pakistani, Muslim-inspired inbreeding is thought to explain the probability that a British Pakistani family is more than 13 times as likely to have children with recessive genetic disorders. While Pakistanis are responsible for three percent of the births in the UK , they account for 33% of children with genetic birth defects.
The risk of what are called autosomal recessive disorders such as cystic fibrosis and spinal muscular atrophy is 18 times higher and the risk of death due to malformations is 10 times higher.
Other negative consequences of inbreeding include a 100 percent increase in the risk of stillbirths and a 50% increase in the possibility that a child will die during labor.
Lowered intellectual capacity is another devastating consequence of Muslim marriage patterns. According to Sennels, research shows that children of consanguineous marriages lose 10-16 points off their IQ and that social abilities develop much slower in inbred babies. The risk of having an IQ lower than 70, the official demarcation for being classified as "retarded," increases by an astonishing 400 percent among children of cousin marriages.
(Similar effects were seen in the Pharaonic dynasties in ancient Egypt and in the British royal family, where inbreeding was the norm for a significant period of time.)
In Denmark, non-Western immigrants are more than 300 percent more likely to fail the intelligence test required for entrance into the Danish army.
Sennels says that "the ability to enjoy and produce knowledge and abstract thinking is simply lower in the Islamic world." He points out that the Arab world translates just 330 books every year, about 20% of what Greece alone does.
In the last 1,200 years of Islam, just 100,000 books have been translated into Arabic, about what Spain does in a single year. Seven out of 10 Turks have never even read a book.
Sennels points out the difficulties this creates for Muslims seeking to succeed in the West. "A lower IQ, together with a religion that denounces critical thinking, surely makes it harder for many Muslims to have success in our high-tech knowledge
societies."
Only nine Muslims have every won the Nobel Prize, and five of those were for the "Peace Prize." According to Nature magazine, Muslim countries produce just 10 percent of the world average when it comes to scientific research (measured by articles per million inhabitants).

TSUNAMI OF POLICE LAYOFFS IS COMING
Just because Camden, a city where half its residents live in poverty, does not have a viable tax base is no reason to believe that the tsunami of layoffs is going to bypass cities of affluence. As more and more cities find themselves facing huge deficits, they will have to either layoff employees or raise taxes, or perhaps both. You can bet laying off employees will be their first choice.

As many as 383 workers, representing one-fourth of the local government work force, are expected to lose their jobs, including about half the police force and one-third of the city's firefighters.
Laid-off firefighters walked eight blocks together from the police union hall to Fire Department headquarters, snaking past City Hall, then lined up their helmets in front of the building, picked them back up and started to turn them in along with their other gear.
"It's one of the worst days in the history of Camden," said Ken Chambers, the president of the firefighters union.
Eighty-three laid-off police officers put their work boots along the sidewalk near police headquarters to symbolize the lost jobs.
Mayor Dana Redd planned a noon news conference to talk about the layoffs in a city facing a huge budget deficit and declining state aid.
Chambers said residents should not expect to be safe as the number of fire companies is reduced. He said the union will continue to meet with city officials to try to reach a deal where some firefighters could be brought back.

Located directly across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, Camden is rampant with open drug-dealing, prostitution and related crimes. More than half of Camden's 80,000 residents, mostly black and Hispanic, live in poverty.
A local pastor says "the fear quotient has been raised," and a police union took out a full-page newspaper advertisement last week warning that Camden would become a "living hell" if layoffs were not averted.
The city was the nation's second-most dangerous based on 2009 data, according to CQ Press, which compiles such rankings. Camden ranked first the previous two years. In 2009, the city had 2,380 violent crimes per 100,000 residents - more than five times the national average, the FBI said.
The anti-crime volunteer group Guardian Angels also says it will patrol Camden, as it has Newark, where there were major police layoffs in November.
The Fire Department has already been relying on help from volunteer departments in neighboring towns. Interim Fire Chief David Yates, who retired Jan. 1, has warned that that layoffs will increase response times.

JAMES CARDONA: TAKING UP SPACE IN PRISON FOR POSSESSION OF POT
I am sure that the proponents of pot, along with the usual civil libertarians and prison reformers, would count James Cardona among the inmates who are taking up space in prison just for possession of pot. You hear it from them all the time:
__Our prisons are full of people doing time for pot possession. These people are not dangerous criminals. Imprisoning them costs the taxpayers a ton of money and contributes to the prison overcrowding problem and state budget deficits. Or criminal justice system would be better served if these people were made to pay a fine and do community service work, rather than imprisoned.
I learned about Cardona’s predicament - he had to close down his business and is serving a four-year prison term for Possession of Marijuana - when I read a story in Monday’s Houston Chronicle about the Ruta 14:6 Church’s new sanctuary, a building owned by James Cardona’s family.
So, poor old Jimmy lost everything, including his freedom, because he got caught with a few joints of pot. Well, NOT EXACTLY! Actually, good old Jimmy had used the building as an indoor marijuana plantation. When Drug Enforcement Agents raided his business in November 2009, Jimmy was growing 1,280 highly potent pot plants. The DEA estimates that Cardona was capable of producing up to $4 million a year of hydroponic marijuana, which sells for five times as much on the streets as Mexican grown marijuana.
According to Wendell Campbell, a spokesman for the Houston DEA office, “That place had it going on – it was an advanced, directed, orchestrated business … a very elaborate system to consistently produce good plants and ultimately push that marijuana into our local community. I do not see how one could be more sophisticated and most [other indoor growth facilities] are about half this size,"
So, how did Jimmy end up with only four years of prison time? His attorneys plea bargained the serious felony charges related to the manufacture and distribution of marijuana down to simple possession of pot. It seems likely that, as part of the bargain, he gave up a number of other people involved in his operation.
There was a time when pot users were sentenced to prison if they got caught holding a couple of joints. That has NOT been the case for the past 50 years. Our prisons are NOT full of people doing time because they got caught with some pot. That’s a lot of phony baloney and the proponents of pot, the civil libertarians and the prison reformers who keep spreading those lies damn well know it! They have succeeded in conning a gullible public absent of any knowledge about the facts behind the arrests of inmates imprisoned for possession of pot.
The public needs to be made aware that most prison inmates doing time for possession of pot were caught with very large amounts of marijuana and were in the business of dealing drugs. They plea bargained serious charges down to the less serious charge of possession in order to avoid a long prison sentence. And, unfortunately, in order to avoid the time and expense of a long trial, prosecutors are often eager to accept a plea bargain.

THE NEGEV DESERT -- Retired U.S. Army General Jerry Boykin recently addressed officers at the Baad Ehad, the number one training base for Israeli army officers. It is essentially the West Point of the Israeli Defense Forces.
"Gentlemen, you are the future of Israel," Boykin told his Baad Ehad audience. "Whenever I can be in an audience of real warriors it has very special meaning and given that this is Israel and these are the people that are going to defend this nation, it was a great honor to be with them."
Boykin has many years of combat experience. He helped form America's elite Delta Force and commanded the U.S. forces in Somalia in 1993, which were depicted in the movie "Black Hawk Down."
Still, he knows Israeli soldiers face a unique challenge.
"I've never stood on my own shores and defended my nation and I have a great admiration and respect for you, because that's exactly what you do," Boykin said. "I cannot imagine what it is like to live knowing that at any time your family can be hit by a rocket or a mortar or even worse a nuclear weapon."
Boykin added, "We all know they're facing the threat of a nuclear Iran, a nation that's led by a man who's denied the Holocaust, who has repeatedly talked about the annihilation of Israel and he's serious. So they face a threat that we as Americans simply don't understand."
While the Israel Defense Force fights on its own land, some have criticized its actions.
The latest example is a United Nations report issued by a retired Judge Richard Goldstone. His report accused the IDF of war crimes during its operation in Gaza last year to eliminate Hamas rocket fire against Israeli civilians.
However, Boykin disagrees with Goldstone's assessment.
"I've seen videos of how careful the Israelis have been to protect innocent lives and property and the Goldstone report says exactly the opposite," the retired general said.
At the base, Boykin talked soldier to soldier, knowing the camaraderie soldiers share and the challenges soldiers face.
"Many of you in here have seen combat and you understand the camaraderie of soldiers," Boykin said. "Camaraderie that requires you to trust the man next to you."
"And the question that each of us has to ask is what price are we willing to pay for what we believe in," he continued. "And some of you might be called to pay that ultimate price for this land that God gave the Jews."

One of the questions that continues to surround the Fort Hood shooting rampage is why the U.S. Army didn't recognize the potential risk of leaving Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan in his position before it was too late.
CBN News put that question to retired Army three-star Gen. Jerry Boykin, who said the answer is simple.
"Nobody wanted to deal with the fact that this guy was a terrorist," Boykin said. "His behavior and his rhetoric were both indications that he was subscribing to a Jihadist ideology and nobody wanted to deal with that issue. He was a terrorist. That was a terrorist act."
Boykin said the Fort Hood massacre was the worst act of terrorism on U.S. soil since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
"The mere fact that this guy was counseling and dealing with our soldiers who have been through the war in Iraq and Afghanistan is atrocious," he added. "It was a leadership failure and it's the fact that the leadership did not want to deal with his Islamic theology; the fact that he was a Muslim is why no one would deal with this guy."
Gen. Boykin spoke from personal experience after spending 36 years in the military.
He was one of the original members of the Army's elite Delta Force and commanded the unit during the Battle of Mogadishu, which was depicted in the movie "Blackhawk Down."
He is also a Christian who spoke openly in uniform about his faith and his Christian world view.
The secular media's coverage of his speeches stirred up a controversy that brought an end to his career. But the double-standard is not lost on Boykin.
"I think everybody in America realizes that the persecution of Christians is acceptable in our society today by both the leadership and the media, but no one wants to offend a Muslim," said Boykin. " The fact of the matter is that this guy was an extremist."
"He was a terrorist and somebody needs to stand up and not only deal with these kind of issues in our society as well as our military," he added. "But they need to deal with the fact that we are infiltrated from within by people who want to destroy the Constitution of our nation and replace it with Sharia Law and we can't appease these people. We must deal with the issue and it starts with calling it what it is. . .Terrorism."
Gen. Boykin doesn't pull any punches.
He said the Army needs to start dealing with the problem before another tragedy happens.

CBN News put that question to retired Army three-star Gen. Jerry Boykin, who said the answer is simple.
"Nobody wanted to deal with the fact that this guy was a terrorist," Boykin said. "His behavior and his rhetoric were both indications that he was subscribing to a Jihadist ideology and nobody wanted to deal with that issue. He was a terrorist. That was a terrorist act."
Boykin said the Fort Hood massacre was the worst act of terrorism on U.S. soil since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
"The mere fact that this guy was counseling and dealing with our soldiers who have been through the war in Iraq and Afghanistan is atrocious," he added. "It was a leadership failure and it's the fact that the leadership did not want to deal with his Islamic theology; the fact that he was a Muslim is why no one would deal with this guy."
Gen. Boykin spoke from personal experience after spending 36 years in the military.
He was one of the original members of the Army's elite Delta Force and commanded the unit during the Battle of Mogadishu, which was depicted in the movie "Blackhawk Down."
He is also a Christian who spoke openly in uniform about his faith and his Christian world view.
The secular media's coverage of his speeches stirred up a controversy that brought an end to his career. But the double-standard is not lost on Boykin.
"I think everybody in America realizes that the persecution of Christians is acceptable in our society today by both the leadership and the media, but no one wants to offend a Muslim," said Boykin. " The fact of the matter is that this guy was an extremist."
"He was a terrorist and somebody needs to stand up and not only deal with these kind of issues in our society as well as our military," he added. "But they need to deal with the fact that we are infiltrated from within by people who want to destroy the Constitution of our nation and replace it with Sharia Law and we can't appease these people. We must deal with the issue and it starts with calling it what it is. . .Terrorism."
Gen. Boykin doesn't pull any punches.
He said the Army needs to start dealing with the problem before another tragedy happens.

POLICE SHOOTING OF AN UNARMED NAKED PERSON IS JUSTIFIABLE
Reggie Doucet, a former Middle Tennessee State University defensive back, was 6 feet tall and weighed 190 pounds during his football playing days. He probably weighed a lot more when he fought with and was overpowering two LAPD officers. Real life and death isn’t like TV or the movies.

Los Angeles, January 15, 2011 – In response to Earl Ofari Hutchinson of the Los Angeles Urban Roundtable and his call on the LAPD to review policies regarding the arrests of intoxicated or mentally disturbed people in the wake of the Reggie Doucet Jr. officer involved shooting, Paul M. Weber, president of the Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) issued the following statement:
The officer involved shooting of Reggie Doucet Jr. involved two officers literally fighting for their lives against Mr. Doucet. It is surprising to see that the first reaction of respected community leader Earl Hutchinson is to question the actions of the police. Apparently, because a suspect is naked, they aren’t a threat. Tell that to the families of officers who have been killed by naked people on PCP who disarmed the officer. In this case, naked or not, when Mr. Doucet tried to take an officer’s gun away from him, he set in motion the chain of events that sadly led to his death. An officer who loses his gun to a suspect loses his life.
It is disappointing that community leaders immediately and predictably turn to questioning and trying to blame the LAPD, when officers have to respond with force and sometimes lethal force to protect their lives. Instead of attending the “second guessing press conference”, we urge everyone to listen to the actual radio traffic of one of the officers involved in the shooting (it is on YouTube) to recognize that he was in a fight for his life. The cold, hard fact that community leaders should understand is that police officers don’t get paid to be shot, stabbed or killed in the line of duty. As we have said before, if suspects refuse to comply with lawful commands and continue actions that endanger the life of an officer or member of the community, then that suspect is solely responsible for the outcome of those events.

A new book about the closing days of WW2 chronicles how German civilians murdered many concentration camp survivors as they moved through their towns and villages on infamous 'death marches' back into the shrinking Reich.
The violence shows how even with their nation in ruins, the Allies advancing on all fronts and the war hopeless, ordinary people were so indoctrinated with Nazi hate they were prepared to kill defenceless people in cold blood.
'The Death Marches: The Final Phase of Nazi Genocide,' by Daniel Blatman, is the first book to research what drove these civilians to acts of savage murder.
Some 500,000 prisoners from the concentration camp gulag both within and without Germany were on the move in the first months of 1945.
As the Allies advanced, the shocking fate of approximately half of them became all too apparent.
'..as was the case in Gardelegen, a town in east-central Germany, where US soldiers found hundreds of charred and mangled bodies in a barn in mid-April 1945.
They were the bodies of prisoners from various camps who had been forced inside' writes Blatman, an Israeli, whose book is published this week and goes on sale in Germany.
'It was later discovered that people had volunteered to guard the prisoners, including ordinary civilians, some of them armed with hunting rifles, who mutated into prison guards of their own volition.
'We're going hunting, to shoot down the zebras!'' cries youths, in reference to the striped uniforms of the inmates.
'Men from the Volkssturm militia, police officers, soldiers from a paratrooper division barracked nearby, guards and civilians helped drive the doomed prisoners into the barn.
'Then they locked the doors, lit gasoline-soaked straw on the ground and tossed hand grenades into the building. Anyone who attempted to escape the inferno ran into a hail of bullets.
'Some 25 prisoners survived, while about 1,000 died.'
'Some will say that the Nazis were responsible for this crime,' said Colonel George P. Lynch, of the 102nd US Infantry Division.
'Others will point to the Gestapo. The responsibility rests with neither. It is the responsibility of the entire German people.'
The same thing happened in Celle, not far from the terrible, disease riddled concentration camp of Belsen.
Prisoners were 'killed like animals' in a forest according to a British military report. Some 300 died in April 1945 massacre, a Hitler Youth leader aged just 17 accounting for 20 alone.
Blatman, a historian at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, said; 'The more the war approached its end, and the more obvious the prisoners' presence in the midst of the German population became, the more regularly German civilians participated.'
In Palmnicken near the former East Prussian city of Königsberg some 3,000 prisoners from the Stutthof concentration camp were herded by civilians on to beach of the frozen Baltic Sea to be mowed down by S.S. men.
Along the country roads of a huge swathe of Germany can be found the little memorials to terrible acts where people were killed in ones and twos and sometimes tens and hundreds.
Blatman believes tens of thousands of 'ordinary Germans' became killers despite no documentary evidence whatsoever that any of the S.S. or Nazi party hierarchy had ever ordered them to behave in such a fashion.
A decade of indoctrination, a genocidal mentality that had systematically dehumanized the Jews and the Slavs, led to the collective hunt,' he said.
