RANGEL AND SHARPTON: TWO PEAS IN A POD

Some one has referred to Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Congressman Charles Rangel and their ilk as "Racial Vultures" which is a most appropriate term for those who are always quick on the draw in charging white cops with racism for killing black men.

Sharpton led a demonstration of some 200 protesters in East Harlem after an off-duty black cop was shot down by an on-duty white cop while chasing a car burglar with his gun in hand. Sharpton has led many "peaceful protests" some of which turned into deadly violence (Crown Heights Riot in 1991 and Freddie’s Fashion Mart deaths in 1995).

Sharpton told CBS TV 2 that black officers are being gunned down under the assumption they're criminals. "This calls for federal investigation and intervention to sort out the facts and bring about a just resolve. Can police investigate themselves fairly and impartially? It would seem very difficult at best and unlikely in fact."

Sharpton and Jackson are always in the forefront of demonstrations against whites, especially white cops, for killing blacks. Where were these two Racial Vultures when a black parolee killed four white police officers in Oakland, California last March? They couldn’t be bothered because the slain officers where white.

Sharpton and Jackson are quick to take advantage of false allegations against white men by black women. Sharpton fed off of the Tawana Brawley assault hoax in 1987 and both took up the cause of Crystal Gail Mangum, the stripper who in 2006 made false allegations of gang rape against members of the Duke University lacrosse team.

Now Congressman Charles Rangel, D-New York, has proven that he and Sharpton are two peas in a pod. "Bag Man Charlie," who is crrently under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, has joined the chorus of Sharpton and his followers by claiming that the killings of black cops by white cops are racially motivated. Sharpton claims that "racial profiling" – a black man with a gun has to be a criminal – is behind these tragedies.

In my blog, "Off-Duty Cops Can Be Mistaken for Crooks And More So If they’re Black" (5-30-09), I wrote, "It may not be politically correct to say so, but with all those daily shootings in the black community, it is small wonder that an armed black man chasing someone down the street will be seen as a hoodlum intent on another black-on-black killing."

Unfortunately for African-Americans, as long as there is such a disproportionate amount of violence within the black community, innocent blacks will continue to be seen as dangerous criminals. That may very well be racial profiling or stereotyping, but that’s not racism!

Rangel went to far as to make a "joke" about President Obama visiting Harlem in the wake of the black officer’s shooting. Here is wcbstv.com’s repoort on Rangel's part in this controversy:

RANGEL: OBAMA HARLEM COMMENT WAS ‘INAPPROPRIATE’
Congressman Calling On AG To Investigate Why Black Police Officers Are Often Shot And Killed By White Cops

NEW YORK (CBS) ― U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel said it was "entirely inappropriate" to make a comment about President Barack Obama needing to be careful when visiting Harlem, where a black police officer was fatally shot by a white colleague last week.

Officer Omar J. Edwards was shot by a fellow officer late Thursday while in street clothes. In response to a newspaper reporter's query about what President Barack Obama should do during his New York City visit on Saturday, Rangel said the president should "make certain he doesn't run around in East Harlem without identification."

In a released statement, the congressman said "It was entirely inappropriate to bring the President and his wife into this discussion during their visit to New York, and I hope my off-the-cuff comment did not cause embarrassment to anyone."

"The tragic shooting of Officer Omar Edwards highlights the need for additional training of our police officers, and I am pleased that Commissioner Kelly recognizes a racial factor is involved," Rangel also said. "I am calling on Attorney General Eric Holder to review the problems in the New York City Police Department when black officers are killed by whites, which too often is the case."
