ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, PRESIDENT TRUMAN

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima

Every August 6th I take a moment to thank President Harry Truman for saving my life and that of thousands and thousands of other American troops by authorizing the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. More than 140,000 Japanese eventually died as the result of that one A-bomb being dropped on August 6, 1945. On August 9 another A-bomb was dropped on Nagasaki and Japan surrendered six days later.

There is no telling how many lives would have been lost on both sides had the A-bombs not been dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There is a very good chance I would have been killed had we invaded Japan.

So, on this 70th anniversary, once again, thank you very much, President Truman!

Besides being impeccably honest Harry had the ability to see clearly and make a decision based upon the facts before him. He made it, then didn't wring his hands about it.
