TWO COPS MURDERED IN PALM SPRINGS

By Bob Walsh

Palm Springs, California is not typically thought of as a hotbed of crime. Nevertheless three cops were shot in Palm Springs on Saturday night. Two of them died.

The two dead officers are Lesley Zerebny, 27, and Jose Gilbert Vargas. Zerebny had just returned from maternity leave and Gilbert was a very senior officer who had just put in his retirement papers, effective the end of this year. Vargas was working a voluntary overtime shift.

The two were the first Palm Springs officers to die in the line of duty since 1962.

The officers responded to a domestic disturbance call shortly after noon. The shooter opened up on them at the door.

As of 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the cops had surrounded a house in Palm Springs in the belief the shooter is inside. The suspected shooter is believed to have mental health issues. It didn't seem to keep him from pulling a trigger, so I guess that means mentally ill people can still be dangerous.

Local citizens have already begun leaving flowers at the police station.

The wounded officer is in the hospital and is described as doing well.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I’m sorry, but I don’t give a shit if the cop killer is a nut job. Instead of sweet talking him into surrendering, They should just go ahead and kill the motherfucker!

Mental illness is not being treated anymore unless you have the money. The police are called to take care of them by the families that can't afford to treat them. If what I read is correct. The call was put out as a family disturbance. The crazy son of a bitch had already stated to his father that he wanted to kill cops. If this information was relayed to dispatch, then SWAT should have been activated and patrol should have never walked up to the house.

RIP Officers. God Bless You.
