There are right now three major fires burning in SoCal. One of them is HUGE and is now burning into the high-end (VERY high end) residential area of Brentwood. Rich people have mansions there. Some of them have burnt down. Rupert Murdoch's place, valued at $30 million plus, is now a smoldering ruin. He isn't alone. A combination of high nighttime winds (50 mph and up) and less than 10% relative humidity is combining to spread embers and therefore flames with uncontrollable speed. Tuesday night the fires were eating up more than one acre per SECOND.
This one could be very, very nasty and very, very expensive before it is all over. The biggest of the three fires is now over 60,000 acres.
