Jewish Settlers Pray for Trump’s Reelection

Leaders of the Jewish settlement movement on Monday gathered at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron (where Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca and Leah are buried) to beseech God to grant four more years to US President Donald Trump.

This week’s US presidential election “will to a large extent impact the future of the State of Israel,” said Yochai Damri, head of the regional council that includes the Jewish community in Hebron, a day before the event.

Damri added that Jews who believe in Israel’s biblical mandate to settle the entirely of the Land “owe President Trump a debt of gratitude for his support of the State of Israel, the Land of Israel, and the settlements over the past four years. …During his term as President, the State of Israel and the settlements in particular have received unprecedented support.”

Israel Gantz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council, told those attending the prayer gathering:

“We came to pray for President Trump’s success, and to thank him for the actions he has taken to date, for strengthening the State of Israel, strengthening the settlements, moving the embassy, ​​recognizing [Israel sovereignty over] the Golan Heights, the Secretary of State’s declaration regarding the legality of the settlements in Judea and Samaria, the push for sovereignty, and of course for strengthening relations between Israel and other countries in the Arab world.”

Most Israelis, and the Jewish settlers in particular, view Barack Obama as the most anti-Israel president in American history. They fear that Joe Biden, who served as Obama’s vice president, will take a similar approach to the Jewish state, making a Trump victory all the more imperative.
