Gavin Newsom, the God-Emperor of the formerly great state of California, has STILL not rescheduled his State of the State message. Inquiring minds want to know why.
The general belief is that the budget situation is MUCH, MUCH WORSE than he is stating. He is asserting that the deficit is a paltry $38 billion and can be covered by some bobbing and weaving and shuffling of funds. The Legislative Analysts Office (which is actually more or less non-partisan, at least as much as any government agency in CA is likely to be) is saying it is more than twice that.
Income is down a lot more than the state said it would be at this point. Those clowns in Sacatomato are still spending money like a drunk sailor on a three-day pass. Since it is really OPM (other people's money) our legislators don't give a shit, and the Democrat-Socialists are a super-majority in both houses and hold all constitutional offices in CA so there is nobody to really stand in their way.
In the meantime CA is still funding health care and legal aid for illegal aliens, AKA Undocumented Democrats.
The basic answer to the basic question: Pretty Fucking Bad.
