THIS AND THAT

By Bob Walsh

Seize the Grey

The DOW closed a hair above 40,000 on Friday.  That isn't the most wonderful thing that ever happened, but it is sort-of indicative of good corporate health.

Also I just bought gas today at a name-brand station (not next to the freeway) for $4.99.  That is low for California, especially of late.

I also put a few bucks down on the nag that won the Preakness today.  I have a nodding acquaintance with one of the (many) owners, so I went for it.  Paid 9-1.  Better than a sharp stick in the eye.

These things together are nice.  It's reassuring to have something nice happen every now and then.
