Gavin Newsom, the God-Emperor of the formerly great state
of California will, in theory, present his budget message this coming
Friday. Not his state-of-the-state message, just his budget. He admits
it will be at least $38 billion in the red. He is proposing $17.1
billion in cuts to balance this. (I guess math isn't his strong suit.)
The more-or-less non-partisan Legislative Analysts Office pegs the
actual hole at $78 billion.
I
strongly suspect the Democrat-Socialist super-majority controlled
legislature will use the usual combination of smoke, mirrors and
bullshit to pretend (legally necessary) that the budget is in fact in
balance. Then the voters will buy the bullshit and we will slide even
further into the abyss.
It would be more fun to watch if I didn't have to fucking live with it.
