It is 0600 on Wednesday as I bang this out.
CA
Proposotion 50 passed by about 63.8% to 36.2% with about 7.5 million
total votes cast. It was the only state-wide question on the ballot. I
confess I hoped it would be more narrow than that, though the fact that
it won does not surprise me at all.
Mamdani
the Commie won the NYC mayor's race with 50.4% of the vote. Even if
Sliwa had dropped out and all his peeps had voted for Cuomo Mamdani
still would have won.
Sherrill
got the governorship in New Jersey by 56.2% over Ciattarelli's 43.2%. I
had thought that would be closer than it was. Quite a lot closer
actually, although again the fact that the Democrat won did not surprise
me at all.
Spanberger
captured the Virginia governor's race with 57.5% over republican Winsome
Sears 42.3%. That is another one I both thought and hoped would be
closer.
The evil psychopath
Jones manged to take the Virginia attorney general's race by 53.1% over
the republican Miyares who garnered 46.5%. I really both thought and
hoped that contest would be closer. The voters in Virginia are just as
tribal as anywhere else I guess.
The
Democrats will attempt very hard to spin this as an anti-Trump
referendum. They will have a significant amount of success with that.
This also means that Gavin Newsom will be pretty well solidified as the
functional head of the Democrat party. His significant win with
Proposition 50 will give him that mantle in the absence of anybody else
of note doing anything worth while.
Trumps
yelling about voter fraud in CA will not, IMHO, be helpful. Of course
there was SOME voter fraud. There is always some voter fraud. There
were NOT 3 million fraudulent votes cast in CA. There just weren't. If
Trump looks petty and petulant it will NOT help his position or the
position of the Republican party.
