Five of the seven SCUSD Board of Education members
The clowns who have been running the Sacramento Unified
School District are sweating it. Their projected budget deficit for
next year is over $50 million. If they can't get their shit together
the state will take over the district making the board irrelevant and
making their idiocy very, very public. Elected idiots don't like it
when that happens.
They
are freezing all non-essential procurement. They are freezing hiring.
They are doing some short-term layoffs of non-union personnel (which
isn't very much in CA). They are even talking about cutting out some of
their incredibly bloated administrative payroll.
Of
course they claim they need to hold on and right the ship FOR THE
CHILDREN. What they (union officials and elected officials) really mean
is that they want desperately to hang onto their gigs and know they
won't if the real story gets out. And it will if the state takes over
the district.
It will be
amusing to watch, at least from the outside. I am confident that
individual moronic expenditures of large chunks of money will be coming
to light over the next weeks and months and the taxpayers up in Sac will
get an idea of how badly they are being screwed.
