Grant Hardin was formerly the Chief of Police in Gateway,
Arkansas. Population 500. He is also a convicted murderer and rapist
doing 50 years plus. He escaped from the Calico Rock prison simply by
wearing a fairly crude, home-made pseudo-law enforcement uniform and
walking out the door. (Their security procedures there must be for
shit.)

He was caught on surveillance footage escaping through the jail's sally
port wearing an Arkansas Division of Correction home-made uniform.
Back in 2017 Hardin
copped to first degree murder of James Appleton, 59, a water department
worker. He is doing 30 years for that, and 50 years for the rape of a
school teacher in 1997.
He
has been a guest of the people in Calico Rock since 2017. The facility
holds about 800 prisoners and is considered medium security, at least
by Arkansas standards, which clearly aren't much.
So far the local constabulary thinks he is hiding out in the boonies. Maybe-probably.
