Donald Trump has made two announcements that are, IMHO, really fucking stupid ideas.
Idea
#1, he wants to reopen Alcatraz as a functional high security prison.
The place earns a ton of money as there are more visitors in that on the
average day than the prison held during it's 30-odd years of operation
as a federal pen in total. Also, it was closed down for a reason. The
physical plant is decrepit. The place would have to be rebuilt almost
completely, except for maybe the cell blocks themselves. The water and
sewage system are totally inadequate and would need complete and very
expensive upgrades. There is no native water supply. And of course
everything except seagull shit has to be moved to and from the island on
boats. It might SOUND good, but it's still stupid.
Alcatraz was a maximum security federal prison located in San Francisco Bay which was closed in 1963 after 29 years of operation
Idea
#2 is an import duty on movies. How the fuck do you value a movie?
Most movies any more are digital and not on film. Electrons are pretty
cheap. For that matter film stock isn't that expensive. It's a dumbass
idea.

Yeah, I believe Alcatraz is already a money maker. Nearly everything would have to be replaced. Leave it is as a museum. I don't know enough about movies to have a tariff opinion. I heard that the Texas Legislature is investing $ to bring production to the Lone Star State. These ideas are a stretch even for 45-47.
