Brendan Depa, 17, who is charged in the attack on a female staffer at his school                 Brendan Depa, 17, is being charged an an adult with aggravated battery on a school board employee, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

A 17-year-old Florida student caught on video beating a female school staffer unconscious after she confiscated his Nintendo Switch video game device will be charged as an adult — as it emerged that he has previously been arrested for battery three times.

The 6-foot-6 teen has been named for the first time as Brendan Depa after the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court ruled that he would be tried as an adult with aggravated battery on a school board employee, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.

The first-degree felony is punishable by up to 30 years behind bars, according to the outlet.

Depa “did actually and intentionally touch or strike (the victim) against the will of (her) and in doing so used a deadly weapon, and/or intentionally or knowingly caused great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement,” the State Attorney’s Office said, according to Click Orlando.

Horrifying video captured the 270-pound student attacking Joan Naydich, a paraprofessional at Matanzas High School in Palm Coast, stomping on her and punching her 15 times on Feb. 21.

“The student stated that he was upset with the victim because she took his Nintendo Switch away during class,” the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Several people rushed to help the defenseless woman, who was taken to a hospital.

According to a statement posted by Naydich’s daughter on a GoFundMe account, she has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

“This incident has reached areas of the world I never thought possible, with love and support pouring in from all,” the statement said.

“As her daughter, it’s heartwarming to see the community rally behind her recovery, near and far. Please keep my mom and brother in your thoughts during this time,” it adds.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Depa was arrested three times for simple battery in 2019, when he lived in Riverview in Hillsborough County, where his mom is an occupational therapist, Flagler Live reported.

The arrests were categorized as first-degree misdemeanors.

After his first arrest in March that year, he was placed in juvenile custody for a few days — but was soon rearrested and admitted to what the state Department of Juvenile Justice refers to as “respite care,” according to the outlet.

He was reportedly held for domestic violence respite care, which the department defines as “When the youth being admitted was screened at the JAC [Juvenile Assessment Center] for domestic violence charges and did not score for secure detention, but is unable to be released to family and would otherwise be held in secure detention.”

Depa being hauled away in cuffs                 Depa is hauled away in cuffs after the shocking attack at Matanzas High School in Palm Coast.

Depa was then placed in a diversionary program categorized as “Intensive Delinquency Diversionary Services,” Flagler Live reported.

It was unclear whether the third charge was lodged when he was in or out of juvenile custody, but he completed the department’s programs and appeared to steer clear of trouble until last week’s violence.

The Flagler County school district is not releasing information about the case pending its ongoing investigation.

District spokesman Jason Wheeler told the News-Journal that officials generally finish school board probes within a couple of weeks.

Depa, who lives in a group home, is behaviorally disabled and requires specially designed instruction and related services as a member of so-called “exceptional students.”

The special help they are given at school is called exceptional student education.

If the district recommends to expel Depa, there must be a review to determine “if the action or conduct was a manifestation of the student’s disability,” according to Disability Rights Florida.

WARNING: YOUR NEIGHBOR OR THE MAN YOU ACCIDENTALLY BUMP INTO ON THE STREET COULD BE A MURDERER

US murderers stand a 50% chance of getting away with it, new report finds

February 28, 2023

Thomas Hargrove, founder of the Murder Accountability Project, warned that the US is "on the verge of being the first developed nation where the majority of homicides go uncleared." "We're on the verge of being the first developed nation where the majority of homicides go uncleared," says Thomas Hargrove, founder of the Murder Accountability Project.

Murderers in America have a 50% chance of getting away with it, according to alarming new data showing homicide clearance rates at an all-time low.

Analyses of FBI data show that 71% of homicides were deemed solved in 1980 — dropping to only about 50% in 2020, the last time the data were compiled.

“We’re on the verge of being the first developed nation where the majority of homicides go uncleared,” Thomas Hargrove, founder of the Murder Accountability Project, told the Guardian.

A graph by the group shows that the clearance rate was even higher before 1980, seemingly marked as high as 90% in 1965.

A separate graphic shows a sudden spike in homicides in 2020 — with the number marked as solved barely increasing from preceding years.

Homicide clearance graphic.

The red for homicides shows a rapid rise around 2020, with the dull color representing solved cases barely increasing.

The Marshall Project — another nonprofit focused on criminal justice — also noted a “historic low” in 2020 of only “about 1 of every 2 murders” being solved.

Some experts blame the spike in 2020 on the pandemic, with the Big Apple among major cities to see shootings and murders skyrocket that year but later show signs of settling.

The Marshall Project and Murder Accountability Project compile data because there is no publicly available government database tracking homicides and the outcomes of police investigations into them.

The research is confounded by the fact that different agencies have different criteria for marking a case cleared.

Graph showing sharo decline of cleared homicides to around just 50%.Statistics shows a dramatic decline in the number of homicides being cleared

For most, it means someone has been arrested, charged and turned over to a court for prosecution.

However, the FBI also allows homicides to be marked clear over “exceptional means,” including when a victim refuses to cooperate to take a case to trial or when a suspect is being tried elsewhere for other crimes.

It also applies when the suspect dies, which critics call putting “bodies on bodies” to help boost clearance numbers, the Marshall Project noted.

Some experts, however, caution that the data do not take into account key factors that have also changed over the decades — suggesting that the lower clearance rate could in fact be a sign of progress.

“It also could be that the standards for making an arrest have gone up and some of the tricks they were using in 1965 are no longer available,” said Philip Cook, a public policy researcher at the University of Chicago Urban Labs who has been studying clearance rates since the 1970s.

He noted to the Marshall Project that outrageous cases where convicts are cleared because of “shoddy” evidence were at the time listed as a “successful” homicide clearance.

Stock image of a body in a morgue.Experts are divided on what is to blame for the decreasing rate of homicides getting cleared.

Critics note previous reports that suggest the issue is particularly stark in
low-income black and Latino neighborhoods.

“People don’t need to see the data to know that the police are not doing their job,” Tinisch Hollins, executive director of a California justice reform group, told the Guardian.

“My perception is that police are failing to do their job.”

Others, however, suggest that the recent backlash against cops amid protests against police killings have also harmed investigations, both through defunded forces and witnesses unwilling to help.

“You hear every cop saying, ‘We can’t do better because they don’t cooperate,’” retired homicide detective John Skaggs, who now trains officers across the US, told the Guardian.

Peter Moskos, a professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, previously told the Marshall Project that it was a vicious cycle.

“If people criticize the police constantly, it is natural that people would be less willing to talk to police,” Moskos said, with that handicapping any investigations and further raising criticism of cops.

The spike in cases has also overwhelmed many homicide squads.

“For us, it’s the volume,” veteran Philadelphia homicide detective Joe Murray previously told CBS News.

Murder Accountability chairman Thomas Hargrove, however, has blamed “a failure of political will by local leaders.”

“The Murder Accountability Project firmly believes declining homicide clearance rates are the result of inadequate allocation of resources — detectives, forensic technicians, crime laboratory capacity, and adequate training of personnel,” he said.

Either way, Jessica Pizzano of Survivors of Homicide noted the importance for families to see their loved ones’ killers taken off the streets.

“Is the murderer in my neighborhood? Will I run into them at the grocery store? Or when I’m pumping gas? … These are real fears that families live through,” Pizzano previously told the Marshall Project.

“They just want that person to never, ever do that to another family again.”

WASHINGTON BLAMES IT ALL ON THE JEWS

Americans Warned to Avoid Judea and Samaria

US Embassy issues alert regarding possible Palestinian violence, even as Washington seems to lay all the blame on Jews.

By Ryan Jones

Israel Today

Americans are told to stay out of the West Bank to avoid being targeted by Palestinian violence. But it's a rare outburst of Jewish violence that has Washington really upset

American citizens living in Israel received on Monday night an urgent email alert from the embassy in Jerusalem to avoid travel to Judea and Samaria, what it calls the “West Bank.”

Embassy staff and their families have been temporarily prohibited from traveling in these areas after 8 PM, and all other US citizens were cautioned to likewise steer clear.

While the message didn’t say as much, the obvious problem is that Americans traveling in vehicles with Israeli license plates could be mistaken for Israelis (though many are dual citizens of both nations) and attacked by Palestinian Arabs.

An Israeli-American citizen was killed on Monday night when Palestinian terrorists opened fire at his car near Jericho, just north of the Dead Sea.

Jews, or those believed to be Jews, have been relentlessly attacked in Judea and Samaria in recent months.

The irony is that while the warning was clearly aimed at helping Americans avoid getting caught up in Palestinian violence, the message emanating from Washington in recent days would seem to suggest that the turbulent situation in the region is entirely the fault of Israel and the Jews.

“We expect the Israeli government to ensure full accountability and legal prosecution of those responsible for these attacks in addition to compensation for the loss of homes and property,” said State Department spokesperson Ned Price after Jews of Samaria demonstrated, some of them violently, in the Palestinian village of Huwara.

Now, when was the last time you saw the State Department take the time to deliver such a stern response to routine acts of property damage by Palestinian Arabs against Israeli Jews, in particular the nearly daily stoning attacks targeting Jewish motorists?

While the threat of Palestinian violence was serious enough to issue an urgent security alert, it was the rare occasion of a Jewish outburst of violence that really had Washington hot and bothered.

There are two possible reasons for this:

  1. Palestinian violence is simply a given at this point. It’s what everyone expects of them after decades of hateful indoctrination. So flare-ups no longer elicit the same kind of dramatic reaction.
  2. An ingrained bias against Israel prevents the West, including the US, from affording the same level of understanding to a Jewish outburst of violence as it does to Palestinian outbursts, which are routinely dismissed as “natural reactions” to the present conflict.

Either way, the duplicity of the American approach bolsters the feeling among many Israelis that even their “best friend” is really no friend at all.

THE NETANYAHU GOVERNMENT MUST ACT DECISIVELY AGAINST PALESTINIAN TERRORISM

Chaos in the Right-Wing Coalition

The outbreak of violence by Jewish settlers is a warning sign. 14 fatalities in four weeks and the coalition acts like the Left.

Israel Today

Left-wing activists protest the previous night's events in Huwara on February 27, 2023.
Left-wing activists protest the previous night's events in Huwara on February 27, 2023

A few hours after I wrote the article “New Agreements Unlikely to Create Anything New,” Israeli settlers rioted in the Palestinian village of Huwara. An act of revenge by Jewish settlers as a result of the terrorist attack a few hours earlier in the same Palestinian village.

I also wrote yesterday that “all sides understand that calm is urgently needed. The problem is that the Palestinian leadership in Ramallah has no control over its own people.” But that wasn’t the whole picture. We have a problem, too. Israel’s government probably does not have absolute control over its people, either. What happened in Samaria last night signals the new situation in the country. Chaos. Arab Member of the Knesset Ahmad Tibi has compared the Jewish outbreak of violence in Huwara to Kristallnacht in Nazi Germany. Abdallah Zarzur, of the Islamic Movement, also tweeted: “After all this, what is left for the Palestinians? That’s what the Nazis did to the Jews on Kristallnacht in 1938 and before the extermination in World War II. A criminal government! A criminal occupation!” Others described the outbreak of violence by the Jewish settlers as a pogrom against Palestinians. The outburst of violence by the Jewish settlers is exactly what Israel’s enemies lacked to compare Jews to Nazis. One difference is that the Israeli soldiers rescued Palestinian families from the burning houses. The Nazis didn’t do that for the Jews back then.

The Jewish outburst of violence must not be justified, but it does signal the Jewish settlers’ frustration with their own coalition. Jews are being murdered and the government and army are doing nothing. This is a red flag for Benjamin Netanyahu, who urgently needs a rethink to keep his coalition alive. “We’ve lost the deterrent,” claim the settlers. “The Arabs are not afraid because they know that the hands of the Israeli security forces are tied. If the army doesn’t ensure peace and security, then we’ll do it.”

Terrorist attacks, rockets from Gaza and the controversial judicial reform. And now images of a burning Palestinian village. The feeling is stronger than ever that the current national-religious government is leading or could take decision that will lead to anarchy. That’s what happens when it’s not clear who’s in charge. Netanyahu’s new government has been in power for less than 10 weeks, and despite differences of opinion on many issues, there is agreement on one thing. All coalition allies understand that the country is falling apart. It began with the decision to finally reform the legal system. Legal reform or legal coup, it depends who you ask. The climate of the anti-government protests is creating a deep rift between the two sectors of Israeli society.

And things are only expected to escalate as we approach the Islamic month of fasting, Ramadan, during which Israel’s enemies will try everything to test Israel’s right-wing national coalition.

So far, the coalition has criticized itself as not being right-wing enough. Minister for National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir made it clear yesterday: “Enough is enough! The time has come to stop the containment policy. It’s time to resume the targeted killings and eliminate the terror leaders. I understand the pain, but we must not take the law into our own hands. The Israeli government and IDF, not the citizens, must lead the fight against terrorism.” For right-wing ministers and key figures like Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, their government cannot continue to function as it is. If right-wing politics does not prevail as promised, then it has no right to exist.

For left-wing Israelis, Ben-Gvir is a fascist. The sign reads “Arsonist” in relation to the events in Huwara, which leftists say were incited by the right-wing coalition.

Netanyahu is in a quandary and must decide how to handle his full-right coalition government and implement right-wing policies. As it stands now, this is becoming more and more impossible with each passing week. Ben-Gvir was not invited to a recent security cabinet meeting, and Netanyahu is not calling for new cabinet meetings. The right-wing coalition is split between the far-right and the moderate-right in the Likud party. But to implement their respective policies, both must cooperate.

If Netanyahu really wants to fully implement his judicial reforms, then he must find a way to please his right-wing settler ministers, Ben-Gvir and Smotrich. The army must act more harshly against the Palestinians, who largely sympathize with anti-Israel terror. According to both ministers, Arabs only understand violence and therefore Israel must respond with more violence. But Netanyahu and Israel’s security establishment see things differently.

It is imperative that Netanyahu establish calm, because he is currently facing too many fronts – rising terror just before Ramadan, increasing rocket attacks, growing protests against his judicial reforms, disunity in his coalition, and chaos in the security cabinet. If his political allies don’t pull themselves together, then everything the coalition partners fantasized about will perish.

THE JEWISH RESPONSE TO PALESTINIAN TERRORISM NOT AS DEPICTED BY THE MEDIA

Christians Set the Record Straight on Huwara Riots

Local Christian social media personalities provide first-hand account of what really happened when Jews stormed violent Palestinian village.

By Ryan Jones

Israel Today

Huwara has been the scene of numerous fatal Palestinian terror attacks. On Sunday, local Jews finally struck back.

The Israel Guys are a group of young Christian social media personalities who live in Samaria, where the ministry they are part of helps local Jewish farmers harvest their lands in accordance with biblical prophecy (see Isaiah 61:5).

When they heard that the “Jewish street” had finally exploded after years of enduring incessant Palestinian Arab violence, they headed out with their camera to the flashpoint village of Huwara.

Huwara is situated on Highway 60, and Jewish motorists must traverse it to travel from southern to northern Samaria.

On Sunday, a Palestinian terrorist took advantage of that fact to mercilessly execute two Israeli brothers, Hallel and Yagel Yaniv, as they drove through the town.

It was the straw that broke the camel’s back, and hundreds of local Jewish residents responded by marching on Huwara later that evening.

Hallel and Yagel Yaniv’s parents and siblings weep as they are laid to rest in Jerusalem. The murder of the two men aroused fury among the Jews of Samaria.

Unsurprisingly, the mainstream international media painted the development as an unprecedented act of Jewish “settler” violence and offered nothing but condemnation.

But The Israel Guys noted that the media got some things wrong, and left out others.

  1. Most of the fires seen in the photos and videos shared ad nasseum on social media were set in junk yards. The cars seen burning were for the most part run down and rusted and not in use.
  2. While there was a group of younger Jews running around throwing stones and setting fires, including to a handful of houses, many, if not most of the Jewish demonstrators were peaceful, including families with young children.
  3. The Israeli authorities will and already are bringing those who engaged in property damage to justice.

More importantly, the Christian YouTubers highlight the shameful efforts to draw moral equivalence to which we have become so accustomed.

The media headlines and statements by world governments are designed to suggest that the deaths of 11 Palestinian terrorists killed days earlier in an IDF arrest operation are equivalent to the murder of the Yaniv brothers. And that the subsequent Jewish “riots” were in turn at least as bad as the terrorist shooting.

WILL LORI LIGHTFOOT BE A SMASHED BUG ON THE WINDSHIELD OF HISTORY AFTER TONIGHT?

By Bob Walsh

I certainly hope so.  The woman, whose primary qualifications for the job is that she is gay, black and female, is generally considered to be the least competent big city mayor in the country.  She lives with a race card stapled to her forehead.  Any criticism of her in any regard draws SCREAMS of racist-bigot-homophobe from the woke crowd.

Unfortunately the soaring crime rate and disastrous business climate, which are no doubt related, has moved what was once America's second city dropping into the shitter.

There are nine people running for her job.  She is #3 in the current polling.  The election is today, though there has been considerable early voting.

I wonder how secure she will feel in the Windy City once she loses her gig and her 24-hour police security?  Maybe she will be insecure enough to leave and go to someplace safer, like Baltimore or St. Louis.

GOVERNOR DESANTIS SIGNS THE "FUCK DISNEY WORLD" BILL

By Bob Walsh

For many years Disney World was essentially a self-governing operation under Florida law.  DeSantis and many like-minded people got pissed when the Disney organization started jumping into woke politics rather than just running their park.

DeSantis called a special session of the legislature earlier this year just to deal with the issue.  They did.

The district was previously called the Reedy Creek Improvement District.  It is now the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.  Previously the board of directors was appointed by corporate entities connected to the Disney operation.  That is not only no longer true but no longer even possible.

The district still exists and has the ability to provide zoning, fire protection, physical infrastructure and to issue bonds so  these things do not fall onto the state.  That was one of the fears when this "takeover" was first set into motion.  The five member board is now appointed directly by the governor.  It is expected that the board will remove the district from woke politics and stick to running the park(s) under its control.

ENTIRE POLICE DEPT COMMAND STAFF RESIGNS AFTER CHIEF ARRESTED

Dearin “Mack” Drury                                                              Dearin “Mack” Drury

Homerville is a small burg in South Georgia.  Their Chief of Police, Dearin "Mack" Drury, 40,  was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on February 19 due to alleged mishandling of evidence.

The Clinch County S. O. reported the incident to the GBI and began an investigation.  On February 25 the command staff and other members of the Homerville P D all resigned.

A special meeting of the Homerville City Council occurred on February 25 and appointed James Herndon to be the interim chief.  The Clinch County S. O. is handling calls for service in Homerville until the new Interim Chief can get his department up and running.

The old chief is charged with theft, possession of marijuana, making false statement and violation of oath of office.

The Clinch County S O was very supporting of the former staff of the Homerville PD and essentially said that the city council was inteferring with the legitimate operations of the department.

Homerville has a population of less than 3,000 people.  It is unclear from the articles I have read how many staff the department had before this mess started, but it was at least five total.

NYC HONORS BLACK HATEMONGER

A bill in New York City will see an intersection in Harlem named after black separatist Elijah Muhammad who was a leader of the Nation of Islam - a group that advocated the establishment of a separate black nation

An intersection in Harlem will be named after Elijah Muhammad, the polemical Black separatist who led the Nation of Islam from 1934 until his death in 1975.

Muhammad famously referred to whites as 'blue-eyed devils', advocated for a separate nation for black Americans and has been accused of anti-Semitic rhetoric.

On that block in Harlem is Nation of Islam-owned Mosque Temple No. 7, in which Malcolm X famously preached before falling out with Muhammad and where an NYPD officer was killed by unidentified NOI radicals.

However, Muhammad was also hailed by some for his empowerment of black Americans - rallying them to rise up against black oppression and encouraging self-sufficiency.

The proposal to name the intersection at 127th St. and Malcolm X Boulevard 'The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad Way' is one of 129 in a City Hall bill that passed 42-0 this month and awaits approval from Mayor Eric Adams.

On the site of the block in question, at 127th St. and Malcolm X Boulevard, is the Nation of Islam-owned Mosque Temple No. 7 where any NYPD officer was fatally shot by NOI radicals three years before Muhammad's death

The bill will see the public sites named after various figures 'based on requests of Council Members whose district includes the location.'

Democrat Kristin Richardson Jordan, the council member for District 9 in Harlem, has hit back at council members who have criticized her choice.

'It is actually not OK to erase black leaders who are not pleasing to white people,' she said during the vote. 'I profoundly vote aye on Elijah Muhammad Way.'

Democrat council member Robert Holden of Queens said the proposal to honor Elijah Muhammad should be removed from the list.

'I'm going to oppose Elijah Muhammad. He was a black supremacist. He was a bad guy,' Holden said. 'It's an insult to Malcolm X Boulevard.'

'He is not worthy of having a street co-naming in the City of New York, and we should not even be considering this,' Councilman David Carr, a Staten Island Republican, said in a hearing earlier this month.

'He fails every test we could possibly put forward: the test based on the values and views of today, and the values and views of the times in which he lived and worked,' Carr said at the Parks and Recreation Committee hearing.

Left-wing group the Southern Poverty Law Center has said Muhammad denounced 'greedy Jews' and continues to brand the Nation of Islam a 'hate group'.

The Anti-Defamation League called the Nation of Islam the largest Black nationalist organization in the US and accused it of maintaining a 'consistent record of antisemitism and bigotry since its founding in the 1930s'.

In an obituary published in the New York Times at the time of Muhammad's death, it said of him: 'Elijah Muhammad did not create the Nation of Islam but he built it on a number of principles. Among them: Islam is the true religion, 'knowledge. of self' is vital, 'doing for self' is necessary, the black man is supreme and the white man is 'the devil.''

The Nation of Islam leader was also linked with the assassination of Malcolm X. Although the two considered themselves allies once, they fell apart and Malcolm X famously accused Muhammad of having children with various teenage assistants.

Muhammad denied any involvement in the assassination but said days later that 'Malcolm X got just what he preached.'

IT WAS BOUND TO HAPPEN ..... PALESTINIAN TERRORISM BEGETS JEWISH TERRORISM

The ‘Jewish Street’ Finally Explodes

Unprecedented rioting by Israeli Jews who say the government isn’t doing enough to protect them from Palestinian terrorism.

By Ryan Jones

A Palestinian policeman surveys the damage after Jewish rioters attacked the village of Huwara in retribution for a fatal terrorist shooting there the day before.

The world often dismisses spontaneous outbursts of violence by the “Palestinian street” as a natural reaction to alleged Israeli crimes. One could ask why the same sense of understanding wasn’t extended to Israeli Jews after some responded in an unprecedented manner to yet another fatal Palestinian terror attack this week.

On Sunday afternoon, a Palestinian Arab deliberately crashed his car into that of two Israelis passing through the village of Huwara while traveling on Highway 60 that traverses Samaria.

The Palestinian then exited his car, walked over to that of his Jewish victims, and unloaded his M16 automatic rifle from point-blank range, executing brothers Hallel and Yagel Yaniv, aged 21 and 19.

Their sister, Rachel Yaniv, delivered powerful words at her brothers’ funeral on Monday: “We are trying to accept with love the hard news that God gave us yesterday. This is hard, and this hurts. We are going through difficult times. But we are strong, and the Jewish people have gone through so many other difficult things. I am sure we will overcome.”

Family and friends weep as Hallel and Yagel Yaniv are laid to rest in Jerusalem.

A ceremony was held for the Yaniv brothers in their hometown of Har Bracha in central Samaria. Har Bracha translates to “Mount of Blessing.” The name is derived from the fact that the community is situated on the slopes of Mount Gerizim, the mount from which God’s blessings were pronounced (Joshua 8), while the curses for disobedience were proclaimed from nearby Mount Ebal.

The family then traveled south to Jerusalem to lay their children to rest on Mount Herzl. Hundreds of local Jews lined Highway 60 to comfort the Yanivs.

Enough is enough

Jews traveling from southern to northern Samaria must pass through Huwara, and residents say the government and military do too little to protect them from constant Palestinian attacks.

On Sunday night, several hundred young Jewish residents of Samaria decided enough was finally enough and took matters into their own hands.

Rampaging through Huwara, they set fire to dozens of cars and several houses. One Palestinian was reportedly killed and some 100 others wounded while confronting the Jewish mob.

Two-faced international condemnation

The European Union and the United States harshly condemned the “settler” violence.

They use that term “settler” to express their view that Jews don’t belong there, an indirect way of suggesting that the murder of local Jewish residents like the Yaniv brothers is ultimately their own fault, and the violent response is therefore not only unjustified, but entirely without reason.

Or perhaps they’ve learned over the decades to expect Israel’s Jews to be more compassionate than their Muslim enemies. The following image, taken at Huwara on Sunday, shows Israeli Jewish soldiers aiding and escorting a Palestinian Arab woman to safety. If the roles were reversed, if it was an elderly Jewish woman at the hands of Hamas gunmen, she’d be dead.

Blame and support

Israeli opposition leaders predictably blamed the situation on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his hard-right government, which they claimed had put wind in the sails of violent elements among the Jewish “settlers.”

Netanyahu for his part urged the furious Jews of Samaria to not take the law into their own hands, but rather to let the IDF and security services do their job and hunt down the Yanivs’ killer.

But some coalition lawmakers said what had happened in Huwara was precisely the kind of action that’s needed to create real deterrence.

“I want to restore security for the residents of the State of Israel,” MK Zvika Fogel told Army Radio. “How do we do that? We stop using the word ‘proportionality.’ We take the gloves off. Yesterday, a terrorist came from Huwara. A closed, burnt Huwara — that’s what I want to see. That’s the only way to achieve deterrence. After a murder like yesterday’s, we need burning villages when the IDF doesn’t act.”

He went on to explain that the residents of Huwara now understand very well that there is a terrible price to pay for terrorism against the Jewish people.

Fogel later tweeted that it wasn’t his intention to encourage vigilantism, and that citizens shouldn’t’ take the law into their own hands. He did, however, suggest that Sunday night’s rioting is what eventually happens when the government and security forces don’t do enough to keep the people of Israel safe.

MAHMOUD ABBAS CAN MAKE ALL SORTS OF DEALS WITH ISRAEL, BUT THERE'S NO POINT BECAUSE HIS PEOPLE DON'T RESPECT HIM

New Agreements Are Unlikely to Create Anything New

All sides understand that calm is urgently needed. The problem is that the Palestinian leadership in Ramallah has no control over its own people.

13 Israelis killed by Palestinian terrorists in the past four weeks.

In Jordan a de-escalation between Israelis and Palestinians was negotiated and in Israel two Israelis, two brothers, were shot dead in their car by Palestinian terrorists in Samaria. An international summit was held in Aqaba yesterday, attended by Jordan, Egypt, the United States, as well as by senior officials from Israel and the Palestinian Authority. All sides are urgently trying to defuse the situation in the Holy Land. In the past four weeks, 13 Israelis have been murdered by Palestinian terrorists. At the same time, Israeli security forces have been operating in a targeted manner against Palestinian terrorist cells and gangs in Nablus and Jenin in recent weeks.

A powder keg just a few weeks before the Islamic month of fasting, Ramadan. All sides understand that calm is urgently needed. The problem is that the Palestinian leadership in Ramallah has no control over its own people. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas can make all sorts of deals with Israel, but if his people don’t respect him, then there’s no point.

At the end of the summit, Jordan announced yesterday that Israel has agreed to freeze Jewish construction in the settlements. Israel’s right-wing Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich: “That won’t happen.” A senior Israeli political official: “Renewal of security coordination with the Palestinian Authority under consideration.” The same source confirmed to the Jordanian source that no further decisions on Jewish settlement expansion will be made in the coming months. According to reports in Jordan, the agreement includes a commitment from the Israeli side to halt discussions on the construction of new housing units in the settlements for four months and to halt further Jewish settlement blocks for the next six months.

On Palestinian social networks, of course, the terrorist attacks are praised, and this encourages other Palestinians to carry out new attacks against Jews. The agreements in Aqaba will hardly stand a chance.

In addition, the sides are said to have agreed to resume the establishment of a joint security committee. The renewal of security coordination and the promise of the Palestinians to finally take responsibility for the fight against Palestinian terrorism in the Palestinian-controlled territories should be urgently examined. A second meeting under Egyptian auspices is to be held before Ramadan (starts March 22) to review progress on the security axis. In addition, a joint civil committee is to be set up in order to build new trust. From an Israeli point of view this is almost impossible, but Israel always errs on the side of hope.

In the governing coalition, criticism of the agreements has been fierce. “If these agreements come true, it will be a disgrace to Israel,” Likud MK Danny Danon said. “That can not be true. On the day of a murderous terrorist attack, the Israeli government puts a price on terrorism and agrees with the Palestinian Authority to end Jewish construction freeze in Judea and Samaria?”

Smotrich later remarked: “I have no idea what has or has not been talked about in Jordan. I, like everyone else, heard about this unnecessary conference from the media. But one thing I do know: There will not be a single day stop in construction and development in the Jewish settlements. That’s my responsibility. The IDF will fight terrorism in all areas of Judea and Samaria without restriction. We will confirm that in the cabinet. Very easily.”

The right-wing ministers have real problems presenting their own policies to the people and especially to their voters. In such cases, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alone decides with the security committee and keeps his ministers out of the game.

From the center of Israeli politics, Gideon Saar from the National Unity party under Benny Gantz pointed out that the previous governing coalition rejected such summit meetings from the outset because they wanted to avoid the consequences of a Jewish settlement freeze. “We refused to make compromises back then. But now there is a full right-wing coalition at the top and it is doing what we were wary of,” Saar said in his tweet.

The new agreements in Jordan are well intentioned but unlikely to create anything new. Hamas and its terrorist colleagues will do everything they can to lure Israel’s new right-wing religious government into an uprising or war.

“What was agreed in Jordan stays in Jordan,” said National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. So nothing will be frozen in Judea and Samaria.
