At 98 years of age, Jimmy Carter is the oldest person ever to have been President.
He
is, IMHO, one of the most mediocre presidents ver. He was also, I am
told, a genuinely decent human being. I strongly suspect the two things
are related. I am inclined to think that it is helpful to be a bit of a
ruthless bastard in order to be a truly effective president.
At
any rate he is in hospice care right now so is presumably within weeks
or months of finding out what, if anything, is on the other side. I
wish him well.
