"God damn it, and to think that I appointed those fucking clowns."
The Supreme Court punted, or at least semi-punted, the
use of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport Venezuelan gang members.
SCOTUS did not say that the Trump administration could not use the
law. They did say that they had to give the criminals some level of
meaningful opportunity to demonstrate that they were not a member of the
class of people in question, and that 24 hours was not enough time.
SCOTUS
moved the case back to the lower court for further action at that
level, acknowledging that they were not best suited to oversee the nuts
and bolts of a case centered half a continent away from DC.
