One of my friends recently told me that MIT offered a
degree in Piracy. Not the history of piracy or the economic and social
impacts of piracy but the actual practice of piracy. Seamanship. How
to swing a cutlass effectively. That sort of thing. So I looked into
it a bit.
It is actually a
CERTIFICATE rather than a degree and it was initiated to nudge people
into getting their physical education requirement. It is, however,
still kind of cool. Colleges do strange things like that once in a
while. UC Berkeley has issued at least one degree in Magic over the
years. The actual practice of magic. Where there is a will, or at
least an academic interest, I guess there is a way.
