SCHOOL RESOURCES OFFICER SHOT BY HER OWN WEAPON

By Bob Walsh

 Salim
Ceres School Resource Officer Salim Chrim, seen here at a Sept. 18, 2024 police swearing-in ceremony, sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her leg on Wednesday.

Yes, that is not SHOT WITH, that is SHOT BY.  Assuming the media reports got it right a female school resources officer in Ceres, CA. was leg-shot Tuesday shortly after noon in the parking lot at the Blaker-Kinser Junior High School.  Thus far it seems that her weapon discharged while in the holster.

Available information does not indicate what, if anything, the officer was doing at the time or what witnesses, if any, might be available.  School resources officer are generally uniformed and there would be no reason for the officer to be handling her weapon (i.e. holstering or unholstering it) in the parking lot.

Regular readers will know there are currently several lawsuits pending against SIG for what are claimed to be instances of the weapon in question discharging while holstered or otherwise NOT being handled.  Available information does NOT identify the weapon involved.

The wound was not life threatening.  The department is investigating it as a suspected firearms malfunction.

Talk about Bad Luck...

Might not be bad luck. Might be bad choices, though not necessarily by the officer. Almost certainly an issue gun and an issue holster.

Is it just me or is there a pattern emerging between plastic safety holsters and accidental weapon discharges?
