The University of California, Irvine, School of Social
Ecology just released a poll on the 2026 CA Gubernatorial race. Kamala
Harris is in the lead when placed against an unnamed Republican, pulling
24% with 40% undecided. I am not sure how much that means.
Actual
Democrat opposition may come from the following. Rick Caruso, a
property developer, Katie Porter, a former assemblywoman, Antonio
Villaraigosa, a former mayor of Los Angeles, Xavier Becerra, formerly
HHS secretary, Eleni Kounalakis, the current Lt. Governor, Tony Thurmond
and Betty Yee.
The
Republicans will field Steve Hilton, formerly an advisor to Prime
Minister David Cameron, Chad Bianco, Riverside County Sheriff and
possibly others.

That didn't work. Maybe governor will.
Harris
is not formally in the race yet and her lack of action is tying up
donations that might otherwise go to others. She is supposed to make up
her mind which way she is going to jump by the "end of summer."
