THAT MUST HAVE BEEN TRULY TERRIFYING

By Bob Walsh

Debris and damage is seen at Kerrville River Park near the Guadalupe River in Kerrville, Texas, on Saturday after historic flooding killed dozens of people in the area and left dozens more missing.

The Guadalupe River in Texas rose 26 feet in 45 minutes yesterday.  There is no effective flash flood warning system in the area.  It washed away vacation-holiday campers, many of them at Christian vacation camps in the area.  Roads and other infrastructure were simply washed away.  It is still raining upstream   It may end up being a disaster of almost unimaginable proportions.  One young girl was recovered alive who had been holding on to an air mattress for 3 hours in the flood waters. At least 27 dead and dozens missing so far.

A terrible event. It's not the first time this has happened. The Corp of Engineers has built dams and redirected waterways in the past. In the end Mother Nature cannot be fully controlled.
