Donald Trump has just announced
that, for the first time in over 30 years, the U.S. will resume testing
of nuclear weapons because both Russia and China are doing so.
It
is my understanding that some aspects related to the storage of nuclear
weapons are problematic and that long-term storage can substantially
degrade these weapons. Therefore occasional testing is necessary to
ensure they will go BANG when and if they are needed.
I don't much like the idea, but I believe that it may be necessary.
