THANKSGIVING

I want to take a few moments to wish the readers of this blog a great Thanksgiving holiday.

And I want to remind everyone that despite the partisan bickering and impasse, the airport pat-downs, the financial crisis, the ‘9.6’ unemployment rate, home foreclosures, the fabricated mean-spirited crap and false alarms on the internet, global warming and the North Korean threat, we still have a lot to be thankful for in these United States.

Having come over here as a refugee from Nazi Germany, I have a special reason to give thanks to this great and wonderful country, despite the fact that I just stepped in a pile of dog shit.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

UNCLE SAM WON'T LIKE THIS ONE BIT

The following turn of events, which is sure to be met with strong objections from our government, was reported by the Borderland Beat:

MEXICAN BUSINESS ASKS GOVERNMENT TO DIAL BACK DRUG WAR

Latin American Herald Tribune
November 22, 2010

Business leaders in the northern Mexican border city of Matamoros are urging President Felipe Calderon to declare a truce in his all-out battle with drug cartels, a conflict that has claimed some 30,000 lives in the past four years.

It it urgent to modify the strategy against organized crime, the vice president of the Federation of National Chambers of Commerce, Julio Almanza, said Monday.

"We’re asking (Calderon) for a truce and for him to exchange war helicopters for tractors to make the countryside more productive, to exchange the machinesguns for loans for businesses, to exchange each exploded grenade for a job," he said.

Matamoros, located just across the border from Brownsville, Texas, is part of Tamaulipas state, where hundreds have died this year as the rival Gulf and Los Zetas drug cartels have battled each other and the security forces.

Almanza said that if the federal government continues to remain obstinate on turning city streets into "battlefields" and does not take account that its strategy "has failed," the risk exists that in more communities the situation of Ciudad Mier, Tamaulipas, might be repeated, where that community has become a ghost town because of the exodus of its frightened citizens.

The business leader said that the federal government must focus its support on businessmen with greater incentives, on supporting the maquiladora industry, foreign trade, giving confidence to tourism, working in strategic sectors like health, employment and education and leaving weapons and war to the side for the sake of peace and productivity.

Almanza said that Tamaulipas Governor-elect Egidio Torre and the incoming mayor of Matamoros, Alfonso Sanchez, must push this truce that the government is being asked for "since both, as respected businessmen, know, have experienced and are aware of the problems the private sector and society in general are facing."

The violence besetting Tamaulipas has caused many businessmen to flee the area along with their capital for neighboring Texas, where they have invested some $16 million in business activity.

UZBEK HONEYMOON SHORTLIVED

A Muslim, this former goat herder apparently didn’t buy into the American concept of honeymoon and marriage.

SADISTIC HUSBAND ‘CARVED INSULTS INTO HIS PREGNANT WIFE’S BODY USING HOUSE KEY’

Mail Online
November 23, 2010

An Uzbek has been arrested after hospital workers found horrific cuts on his pregnant wive's body... which he had allegedly carved with his house keys.

Ozodoa Khakimov was being prepared for childbirth in Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn, when the discovery was made on Friday.

Ulubek Khakimov, who married his Uzbek partner last December, was promptly arrested, and is also alleged to have threatened to kill his wife and her baby.

The hospital staffers discovered scars that spelled out the words 'bitch' and 'whore' in Cyrillic, the alphabet of her native land.

'He started beating me on the day of our wedding,' the 23-year-old told the Daily News, New York.

'One time he wrote bad words on my leg, and another time with a key on my neck.'

Mrs Khakimov described how her husband, 26, had sliced the epithets into her skin before they came to U.S. - so he was not charged in connection with those.

But he used a key to gouge the words into her chest, thighs, neck and stomach while the couple lived in New York district Midwood, starting in August and as recently as last week, the victim said.

'On top of that, he was beating me while I was pregnant,' said Mrs Khakimov, adding that she stayed with her husband because 'I thought he was my family'.

Just before midnight on Friday, Mr Khakimov called his wife at the hospital and said he was coming there to kill her and the newborn baby, court papers say. When he arrived the police were waiting and arrested him.

He told police his wife was 'making the accusations' of mutilation because she wants a divorce.

He was charged with 27 counts of assault, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment.

'I feel safe,' Mrs Khakimov said after her husband's arrest. 'I have peace in my mind. Now I have a son to take care of. I have a new man in my life.'

'NO ONE IN NEED OF HEALTH CARRE SHOULD HAVE TO RISK FINANCIAL RUIN AS A RESULT'

Although I am a fiscal conservative, I am in full agreement that the cost of health care should not lead to bankruptcies or drive people into poverty.

HEALTH BILLS DRAG MILLIONS INTO POVERTY

The Straits Times
November 22, 2010

GENEVA - MORE than 100 million people are plunged into poverty every year by illness or 'catastrophic' medical bills, the World Health Organisation said on Monday as it launched a global drive for universal health care.

'No one in need of health care should have to risk financial ruin as a result,' WHO Director General Margaret Chan said.

The agency's annual report, devoted this year to financing health systems, underlined that the need for universal health coverage 'has never been greater' with the economic slowdown, globalisation of disease and ageing populations that need more care for chronic conditions.

Since 2005, the WHO's 192 member states have decreed that everyone should have access to health services and no one should suffer financial hardship as a result.

'On both counts the world is a long way from universal coverage,' the report said.

The UN health agency found that in countries that depend heavily on people paying for their services when they seek care 'health bills push 100 million people into poverty each year' as many suffer 'catastrophic costs.' The most successful health care systems in Europe, Japan, Chile, Mexico Rwanda and Thailand were based on pooled resources, helping to spread the financing burden, it added. – AFP

THREE OBSTACLES TO UNIVERSAL COVERAGE

The report highlighted three 'fundamental, interrelated' problems that stopped countries moving closer to universal coverage.

They included an overreliance on such direct payments, the unavailability of the full range of care and treatment, and the 'inefficient and inequitable use' of resources.

'At a conservative estimate, 20 to 40 per cent of health resources are being wasted,' the report said.

Although the poorest countries are the hardest hit, the report also underlined that disparities even within some of the richest nations also harmed care.

It cited a study by Harvard University in 2007 indicating that medical bills contributed to 62 per cent of family bankruptcies.

'It's just not acceptable. And it is not only not acceptable but it's not necessary, because something can be done about it,' David Evans, director of health systems financing at the WHO told journalists in Geneva. --AFP

BUYER BEWARE

To prevent credit card identity theft, consumers should ‘stay vigilant by regularly checking their accounts online, keeping receipts from where they shop and watching who handles their card.’

DON’T GET SCAMMED BY ‘SKIMMERS’
Gadget allow identity thieves to easily swipe credit cards’ data

By Brian Rogers

Houston Chronicle
November 22, 2010

The waitress at a River Oaks restaurant approached her customers with a secret in her pocket, took their credit card and disappeared for just a minute.

She rang up the meal, swiped the card through the restaurant's computer and returned with the receipt.

Sometime during that everyday transaction, prosecutors say, she used a small battery-powered card scanner to surreptitiously scan the unwitting customer's card.

Able to fit in an identity thief's palm or masquerade as a pen in a shirt pocket, the tiny "skimmer" is emerging as the newest threat to bank accounts.

"It's almost like being pick-pocketed, but you still have your wallet," said Assistant Harris County District Attorney Ed McClees. "It's something that can be done with sleight of hand, without the person even knowing it has been done."

The tiny digital devices can collect and hold information from hundreds of cards then can be easily downloaded and transferred worldwide over Internet black markets.

With the holidays approaching, authorities are warning consumers to stay vigilant by regularly checking their accounts online, keeping receipts from where they shop and watching who handles their card.

Authorities estimate that dozens of store clerks and servers are arrested every year in Houston. Authorities are reluctant to quantify how often skimming happens, however, because one waiter at one restaurant can skim hundreds of numbers. There also are cases of identity theft that may have involved skimmers but cannot be traced or were not reported, investigators said.

"What we catch is a fraction of what happens," McClees said.

Secret Service special agent Marvin Wright said consumers generally are victimized 24 to 48 hours after the number is "compromised."

"That information can then be encoded on a lost, stolen or counterfeit credit card and used anywhere in the world," Wright said.

In addition to skimmers in the hands of would-be conspirators, they also can be placed on ATMs and gas stations to capture information during a legitimate transaction. The skimmer is set up as a small hood on the real reader so the card is seen by both. A hidden camera records the PIN entry so a fraudulent card can be used at any ATM.

BLESS YOU MY SON: PAROLEE PRETENDS TO BE PRIEST

Bob Walsh would refer to this thief as a ‘Gold Star Parolee.’ And I’ll bet that the priest’s robe was stolen too.

MAN DRESSES AS PRIEST TO STEAL CHURCH CASH

Associated Press
November 21, 2010

JACKSON, Mich. — A 52-year-old Jackson man accused of donning a priest's robe to steal parishioner donations from a church has been arrested. Sgt. Kevin Hiller told the Jackson Citizen Patriot the man stole an undisclosed amount of money and checks from St. John Catholic Church about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Hiller said the man used the robe to gain access to a room where the money was located.

Witnesses helped police identify the man, who was arrested at his home.

Police have not released the suspect's name. They say he is on parole and remains held at the Jackson County Jail pending parole violation and larceny from a building charges.

Jackson is about 70 miles west of Detroit.

WHOONGA

You gotta love the belief that AIDS ‘can be prevented by sleeping with a virgin or showering after sex with an HIV-positive partner.’

ADDICTS MIX HIV DRUGS WITH MARIJUANA IN SOUTH AFRICA’S DEADLY NEW ‘WHOONGA’ CRAZE

Mail Online
November 21, 2010

AIDS patients in South Africa are being robbed of their lifesaving drugs so that they can be mixed with marijuana and smoked, authorities and health experts say.

The concoction is called 'whoonga' and it adds a bizarre twist to the war on AIDS in the world's worst-affected country just as it embarks on a massive distribution of medications.

Whoonga's spread is so far limited to eastern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa's most AIDS-stricken province, but AIDS and addiction specialists worry that it could reach other parts of the country.

There's no evidence that any ingredient of the AIDS drug cocktail is addictive or does anything to enhance the marijuana high.

Whoonga smokers may be fooling themselves into believing the AIDS drugs are giving them a high, when it's really some other ingredient, says Dr. Njabulo Mabaso, an AIDS expert.

AIDS is already a source of damaging myths in South Africa, such as that the disease can be prevented by sleeping with a virgin or showering after sex with an HIV-positive partner.

Some drug dealers are suspected of stretching the whoonga mixture with soap powder and even rat poison to increase their profits.

'We are seeing the use of whoonga in communities and its very widespread. It's a substance that is openly spoken about in communities,' says Lihle Dlamini of the Treatment Action Campaign, which has lobbied hard to improve the government's response to AIDS.

Drug dealers 'are taking this treatment that is supposed to assist people living with HIV and abusing it,' she says.

In the eastern port city of Durban, Thamsanqa Langa said he didn't know what whoonga was when dealers first started offering the cream-coloured powder at 20 rand (about $3) a smoke.

Vincent Ndunge, a police spokesman in KwaZulu-Natal, said whoonga was first noticed two or three years ago when officers found gangs were robbing people of medication as they left hospitals.

South Africa, a nation of about 50 million, has an estimated 5.7 million people infected with HIV. Since taking office last year, President Jacob Zuma has sought to invigorate the previous government's foundering effort, and doctors and nurses are being brought out of retirement and medical students mobilized for an ambitious testing and treatment campaign.

SCORE ONE FOR THE GUV

Gov. Brewer explains it in words that Robert Sarver, and anyone else for that matter, should have absolutely no trouble understanding.

GOVERNOR BREWER VS. PHOENIX SUNS
By Sue Thurman

Arizona Family Examiner
August 2, 2010

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has been in the news a great deal, due to her attempts to secure the Arizona border. Many have voiced their opinions for and against the controversial SB1070 immigration bill.

With celebrities and others jumping on this issue, even Phoenix Suns owner, Robert Sarver, has voiced a strong opinion against SB1070. Governor Brewer sent a great note to Sarver, which clearly illustrates the current situation in a way he can surely appreciate. The following is her explanation.

"What if the owners of the Suns discovered that hordes of people were sneaking into games without paying? What if they had a good idea who the gate-crashers are, but the ushers and security personnel were not allowed to ask these folks to produce their ticket stubs, thus non-paying attendees couldn’t be ejected. Furthermore, what if Suns’ ownership was expected to provide those who sneaked in with complimentary eats and drink? And what if, on those days when a gate-crasher became ill or injured, the Suns had to provide free medical care and shelter?" -Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer

DEA HANDCUFFED BY HOLDER

Shame on Attorney General Eric Holder for ordering the DEA not to enforce federal marijuana laws against medical pot users, growers and distributors. Kudos to the other federal agencies that are defying the Obama administration by enforcing those laws. As for all the weepers and wailers who are bemoaning the enforcement of the marijuana laws I say, Fuck ‘Em!

STATE, FEDERAL MARIJUANA LAWS COLLIDE
The DOJ doesn't prosecute medical-marijuana users, but other federal agencies say they must treat pot as an illegal drug

By Oren Dorell

USA TODAY
November 21, 2010

WASHINGTON — People who use marijuana for medicinal purposes in states where it is legal are being penalized by the federal government because pot is still illegal under U.S. law.

At Denver unemployment offices, medical users fired for failing a drug test are denied unemployment benefits, says lawyer Kimberlie Ryan, who represents some of those applicants.

In California, Jim Lacy, 60, who has an arthritic hip and uses medical marijuana for pain relief, says he has had his stash confiscated and been threatened with arrest at Border Patrol checkpoints near his Jacumba home.

In Las Vegas, N.M., cancer patient Robert Jones, 70, says he has been notified that his federal rent subsidy is being revoked because he is a medical-marijuana user.

Marijuana dispensary operator Steve DeAngelo of Harborside Health Center in Oakland says his federally insured bank dumped his account because he deals in an illegal drug.

Problems occur at airport security checkpoints in medical marijuana states. Baggage screeners, who work for the federal Transportation Security Administration, turn medical marijuana users over to local police for prosecution, according to Ed Skvarna, chief of the Burbank airport police.

"It's outrageous, but the government's cannabis policies are outrageous," says Bill Panzer, an Oakland lawyer who co-wrote the nation's first medical-marijuana law, approved by California voters in 1996.

The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy website says smoking marijuana "is not considered modern medicine." It says the drug has a high potential for abuse, the smoke can be as harmful as cigarettes, and it has not been proven effective under the standards of the Food and Drug Administration.

The Justice Department does not usually prosecute medical-marijuana users, but officials of other federal agencies say they are required to treat pot as an illegal drug.

"We're charged with enforcing federal law," says Border Patrol spokeswoman Kelly Ivahnenko.

Landlords "may exercise discretion" in deciding whether to evict tenants who use medical marijuana, says Helen Kanovsky, general counsel for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. New Mexico HUD administrator Mandy Griego says HUD's policy is that pot, "for medicinal purposes or not," is prohibited at HUD-subsidized properties, and termination for possession "must be applied consistently for all tenants."

SUICIDE BOMBERS WILL NOT BE DETECTED BY PAT-DOWNS

With all the uproar over those pat-downs at our airports, no one seems to be aware of the fact that explosives can be hidden on the body where they will not be detected by the groping hands of those TSA screeners. The only things those pat-downs will detect, provided they’re done meticulously, are weapons like firearms or box cutters that can be used to commandeer an airliner.

As a former narcotics officer I am well aware that a substantial quantity of explosives – as much as the underwear bomber had – can be concealed inside body cavities. I have personally retrieved bags of heroin from the butts of men and female officers have retrieved them from the vaginas and butts of women.

The only way to detect these vaginal and kiester explosive stashes is with those full-body scanners that so many travelers refuse to go through. By opting for a pat-down the suicide bomber with a vaginal or kiester stash will be able to board an aircraft undetected. Once in flight, he or she can go to the toilet where they will be able to set off the concealed explosives.

Israel doesn’t have that problem even though its airliners are prime targets for Muslim militants. For it’s security, Israel relies on the extensive use of profiling at its airport and on thorough background checks of all air travelers. In the United States we cannot use profiling because, heaven forbid, it’s not politically correct.

If we are so worried about suicide bombers getting on our airliners but won’t use the Israeli screening system, we should require every air traveler to go through those full-body scanners, any concerns with privacy issues and radiation exposure notwithstanding.

Actually, our airport screening system would be laughable if it were not for the fact that so many travelers are being inconvenienced unnecessarily. 99.99 percent of the flying public is subjected to the indignities of pat-downs or full-body scans in the cause of political correctness. If we relied on profiling like the Israelis have done so successfully, there would be little if any need for pat-downs and full-body scans.

TODAY'S SERMON: DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO

Actually it was a foursome since the sex acts between the pastor, his wife and the church assistant also included the church assistant’s wife.

PASTOR WHO BANNED ‘INFIDELITY’ FACEBOOK ADMITS: I HAD THREESOME WITH WIFE AND CHURCH ASSISTANT

Mail Online
November 21, 2010

A pastor who said Facebook was a 'portal to infidelity' has admitted to having threesome sex with his wife and a male church assistant.

The Rev. Cedric Miller's secret past was exposed after he ordered church leaders to delete their Facebook accounts or resign.

He blamed the social networking website for causing married couples to have illicit affairs and igniting 'old passions'.

The 48-year-old leader of the Living Word Christian Fellowship Church in Neptune, New Jersey, confirmed the sex games he played with his wife Kim after his testimony in a court case was revealed.

The liaisons often took place at his home during Thursday Bible study meetings and Sundays after church.

'It has come to my attention that a very painful part of my past has resurfaced,' Miller wrote in an e-mail sent Friday.

'This was resolved at that time and accordingly we will not allow it to detract from our mission at hand to save as many marriages as we can.

'My life as a minister, husband, father and friend has led me to the conviction that I must do all that I can to help as many people strengthen, preserve and repair the often times fragile cords of marriage.'

Miller described the sexual relationship In his evidence at the 2003 criminal trial of his assistant which was eventually dismissed, according to the Ashby Park Press.

Miller said his wife had an extramarital affair with a church assistant and that he was present at many of their meetings. And sometimes the assistant's wife was there too, he claimed.

He added: 'We would talk and laugh and play and just beyond what was appropriate.'

Pressed by a defence lawyer to give more detail Miller added: ' we had crossed the line many times, I mean between the four of us.

'It was just, I mean there was touching, there was … it was crazy, it was as wrong as wrong could get. Yes.

The lawyer asked: 'Okay, it was sex, correct?'

'Yes,'' Miller said.

But the minister said the encounters 'came to a crashing halt' when several women in the church accused the assistant of having sex with them.

The names of the assistant and his wife were not disclosed, and Miller told the newspaper that he was concerned that revisiting the incident would 'irreparably' hurt some people.

The pastor sparked controversy last week when he ordered about 50 married church officials to delete their Facebook accounts or quit their leadership positions.

He had previously asked married worshippers to share their login information with their spouses - as he does - and said he would leave the site this week.

THANK YOU NOTE

Dear Mr. O’Brien

I’m 88 years old and have been in this home for the aged for the last 10 years. I want to thank you for the hair dryer you gave the Community Chest and they gave me. The lady in the next room is 86 and she has had a hair dryer for 6 years. She would never let me use her hair dryer. Yesterday her hair dryer fell and broke into several pieces. She asked me if she could use mine and I said fuck you.

Yours truly

IN THIS CASE, JUSTICE DELAYED MAY NOT BE JUSTICE DENIED

This is going to be a hard case to win, but I am very proud of the prosecutors for trying. The defense will bring in their experts who will try to cast doubt that the former officer died from the injuries he suffered 30 years ago.

Justice was most definitely not served when one of the perps was sentenced to serve only 17 years and the other to only 16 years in prison for shooting this officer twice in the back. And to add insult to injury, one was paroled after serving only 10 years and the other after serving only nine, while their victim was left paralyzed and had to have his legs amputated.

TWO MEN JAILED FOR 1980 SHOOTING WHICH LEFT POLICEMAN PARALYZED ARE REARRESTED AFTER HE DIES FROM INJURIES 30 YEARS LATER
By David Gardner

Mail Online
November 20, 2010

Two men who were jailed 30 years ago for the attempted murder of a policeman have now been charged with his murder after the paralyzed ex-officer died from his injuries.

Prosecutors in Orange County, California, reopened the case after doctors blamed bullet wounds sheriff's deputy Ira Essoe suffered in the 1980 shooting for his death earlier this year.

David Knick, 54, and Robert Strong, 55, both served lengthy jail sentences in the 1980s and 90s after being convicted of attempting to murder Mr. Essoe.

The victim, who was in plain clothes, was shot twice in the back after confronting them in a mall car park.

They escaped in a police car after the shooting but were captured following a high-speed chase in which they fired at pursuing officers.

Both were arrested again on Thursday and charged with murder.

The shooting left the deputy paralysed and he also suffered serious medical complications as a result of having both legs amputated.

Strong served ten years of a 17-year sentence after he was convicted in 1981 of felony attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, assault with a deadly weapon and auto burglary.

Knick was sentenced to 16 years in prison on similar charges the same year, but only served nine.

They are both now being held in Santa Ana, California, on $1million bail. If convicted, they could each face another 25 years to life in state prison.

Bedridden and still in pain from his injuries, Mr Essoe died in February of the blood disease sepsis, caused by bed sores.

After his attackers were released from prison, the deputy said he accepted his fate because he knew the dangers when he became a law officer.

At the time, he said: 'What I can't accept is that one of the men does half a sentence and walks off.'

THAT'S WHAT HE DID AFTER WATCHING TOO MANY RERUNS OF 'HOME IMPROVEMENT'

Ricky wasn’t the swiftest stick-up guy in town. He must have watched too many reruns of Tim Allen’s ‘Home Improvement’ TV series, especially the episode with the ‘more power’ lawnmower.

MAN FLEES ON LAWN MOWER AFTER STICK-UP
By Karen Daily

AIKEN, S.C. -- An Aiken man trying to flee from deputies on a riding lawn mower didn't get very far and was quickly detained on allegations he used a stick during what deputies are dubbing a "stick-up" at a local convenience store.

Ricky New, 45, of the 2000 block of Edgefield Highway, is charged with first-degree assault and battery and armed robbery.

This is not local law enforcement's first run-in with New, but it appears that it is the first time he has been accused of holding up a store with a stick. His face was partially covered with a white towel, but when they detained him, they knew who he was from crimes in the past, officials said.

This time, New is accused of walking into the Kent's Korner at 1925 Edgefield Highway where he ordered the clerks to "give me your damn money."

He began to strike one of the clerks with a stick that he brought into the store, said Capt. Elwell, a sheriff's office spokesperson.

She threw her arm up to protect herself from the attack and was struck on the arm several times.

"She was bruised, but she is OK," Elwell explained.

"He received an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene on his getaway vehicle - a Craftsman riding lawn mower," Elwell said.

The suspect was detained a short time later. He is being held at the Aiken County detention center.

MD. WOMAN GETS 5 YEARS FOR BRIDAL VEIL ATTACK

The Washington Post
November 19, 2010

HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- A Maryland woman is going to prison for breaking into her neighbor's house wearing nothing but a bridal skirt and veil.

The woman testified at her trial that she was playing "dress up" with a friend’s daughter when she began hallucinating. She put on the wedding gown, but it was too small to pull up over her shoulders, she testified.

A judge sentenced 33-year-old Melissa Wagaman on Thursday to five years. A jury had convicted her of second-degree assault, fourth-degree burglary and reckless endangerment for the February attack that injured Aaron Parrott.

Wagaman testified at trial that a combination of cold medicine and marijuana apparently made her hallucinate that she was getting married and that her mother was locked in her neighbor's basement.

Wagaman broke a dining room window with her head, causing shattered glass to cut an artery in her neighbor's arm.

Wagaman apologized to the Parrotts during Thursday's hearing.

OBAMA SEEMS DETERMINED TO THROW ISRAEL UNDER THE TRAIN

I have always been a strong supporter of Netanyahu, but his actions in dealing with the Obama administration since he was elected prime minister have left me sorely disappointed.

OBAMA HJOLDS ISRAEL IN CONTEMPT
By Caroline B. Glick

Jewish World Review
Nov. 19, 2010

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton must have given Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu quite a reception. Otherwise it is hard to understand what possessed him to accept the deal he accepted when he met with her last week.

Under the deal, Netanyahu agreed to retroactively extend the Jewish construction ban ended on September 24 and to carry it forward an additional 90 days.

Clinton's demand was, "not one more brick" for Jews, meaning, no Jew will be allowed to lay even one more brick on a home he is lawfully building even as the US funds massive Palestinian construction projects. The magnitude of this discriminatory infringement on the property rights of law abiding citizens is breathtaking.

The 90 day freeze is supposed to usher in a period of intense negotiations between Israel and Fatah. But those negotiations will not get off the ground because PLO leader Mahmoud Abbas has no interest in talking, and will never accept any peace offer made by Israel.

But the Obama administration doesn't care. They aren't worried about the Palestinians accepting a deal. What they want are more Israeli land surrenders. And Clinton convinced him to agree that the next round of negotiations will be devoted strictly to a discussion of the breadth and depth of Israeli land surrenders.

The Palestinians won't have to recognize that Israel has a right to exist. They won't have to dismantle terrorist organizations. They won't have to stop teaching their children to aspire to become suicide bombers. They won't even have to stop their negotiations towards reconciling with Hamas.

Netanyahu claims that the Americans agreed to continue respecting Jewish property rights in Jerusalem. The Obama administration has refused to confirm this claim. Yet rather than use the US demurral as a justification for walking away from a bad deal, reports indicate that Netanyahu told his lawyers to figure out fancy wording to hide the American refusal.

Netanyahu boasts that he received three major payoffs from Obama in exchange for his agreement to ban Jewish construction and discuss land surrenders with a negotiating partner that refuses to peacefully coexist with the Jewish state. First, he claims that Obama agreed not to renew his demand that Jews be denied their property rights. Second, he says the administration agreed to sell Israel twenty more F-35s. Finally, he says Obama agreed to wait a year before signing onto anti-Israel resolutions in the UN Security Council.

The first payoff is nothing more than the foreign policy equivalent of buying the same dead horse twice. Obama led Netanyahu to believe he had set aside his demand that Jews be denied property rights last November, when Netanyahu announced the first construction freeze. Yet Obama repeated his demands even before the last freeze ended. Obama has no credibility on this issue. Demonstrating this, Obama is now refusing to put this pledge in writing

The F-35 deal is simply bizarre. Israel needs the F-35 to defend against enemies like Iran. Yet the administration claims that its agreement to sell Israel the F-35s is contingent on Israel signing a peace deal with the Palestinians. In other words, the Obama administration is now giving the PLO power to veto American military assistance to Israel by continuing to say no to peace.

More than anything, the F-35 payoff exposes the degree to which Obama holds Israel in contempt. This is a President who is fighting Congress tooth and nail to pass a $60 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia. The administration argues that the arms are necessary to enable Saudi Arabia to deter Iran from attacking it. That would be the same Saudi Arabia that despite its massive arsenal, has never had the courage or the competence to fight its own battles.

On the other hand there is Israel — the US's most reliable, courageous, and competent strategic ally in the region, and even more a target of Iranian aggression than Saudi Arabia. Rather than arm Israel with all the means it requires to fight Iran, the Obama administration is downgrading military assistance by conditioning its sale of the F-35s on an Israeli agreement to commit strategic suicide by surrendering its defensible borders and capital city to its sworn enemies.

Finally there is the administration's pledge to support Israel at the UN for a year. What this pledge actually means is that a year from now, the Obama administration will present the deal as an excuse to abandon what has been the policy of every US administration since Lyndon Johnson and stop blocking anti-Israel resolutions at the UN Security Council.

THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LAWYER AND A LIAR IS THE SPELLING

Let me get this straight. His girlfriend was in a stolen car with the parolee as he rammed a police car in an attempt to get away and she was only in the car to help the cops catch him. Bob Walsh says that’s a ‘new twist’ on him. Me too!

The liar (lawyer) for the deceased girlfriend’s family came up with a real whopper for this lawsuit. In the car to help the cops catch her boyfriend – that’s a real good one.

GOLD STAR PAROLEE COPS A PLEA

A Gold Star Parolee plead guilty in a somewhat odd case in beautiful downtown Escondido.

Christopher Ramirez, 28, was a wanted parolee who rammed a stolen car into a police car triggering a shooting that killed Ramirez’ girlfriend. He pleaded guilty on Wednesday to six felonies and will draw a ten-year sentence for this trouble. The case has also generated a lawsuit.

Jennnifer Favreau was a passenger in the car when the cops opened fire. She was shot and killed. Her family has filed a $50 million wrongful death suit. The suit claims that Favreau was present in the car at the request of the police and that she was in some fashion helping the cops catch her boyfriend. I have to admit, that is a new twist on me.

'BIG EASY' WAY TOO EASY IN RECRUITING COPS

Where in hell did the recruiters find these cops from hell? And three of these sorry shitheads now on trial in federal court even managed to rise to the rank of lieutenant.

POLICE OFFICER ‘LAUGHED AFTER SHOOTING NEW ORLEANS LOOTER AND BURNING HIS BODY’, COURT HEARS

Mail Online
November 19, 2010

A New Orleans police officer was laughing after he burned the body of a man who had been gunned down by police in Hurricane Katrina's aftermath, a fellow officer has testified.

The testimony came during the trial of five police officers who have gone on trial charged in the shooting and burning of Henry Glover, 31, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Lt. Joseph Meisch says he was standing outside a police station near the Mississippi River when he saw a car followed by a pickup truck driving on a levee.

Gregory McRae was driving the car and Lt. Dwayne Scheuermann was driving the truck, according to prosecutors.

Moments after the car drove off the levee, Meisch saw a plume of thick, black smoke.

Meisch didn't know who was driving the vehicles until McRae and Scheuermann ran toward him.

Scheuermann had a blank look on his face, but McRae was laughing, Meisch said.

'Laughing like somebody had just played a joke?' Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracey Knight asked.

'It could have been humorous or nervous laughter,' he said.

Meisch said he asked what had happened, and McRae told him not to worry about it.

'I got it,' Scheuermann added, according to Meisch.

McRae's lawyer, Frank DeSalvo, has conceded that his client burned the body.

DeSalvo said in his opening statement that McRae was under stress from Katrina's harsh conditions when he made a 'very bad decision' to toss a flare in the car.

Jeffrey Kearney, one of Scheuermann's attorneys, has said his client didn't know McRae was going to set the car on fire.

Meisch said he didn't check on the car until four or five days later. When he looked into the back seat, he saw what appeared to be a ribcage.

'It kind of actually scared me,' he said. But he didn't tell anybody about his discovery, assuming Scheuermann was handling it, Meisch said.

'It did raise some suspicion in my mind,' he said. 'But, again, Lt. Scheuermann said he's got it.'

Meisch said he didn't discuss the matter with Scheuermann again until 2009, after federal authorities started investigating Glover's death. Meisch said Scheuermann told him that they wouldn't deny what happened and that McRae had made a 'stupid mistake.'

A former officer, David Warren, is charged with shooting Glover. Prosecutors say Glover wasn't armed and didn't pose a threat to Warren.

Scheuermann and McRae are accused of beating people who drove Glover to a makeshift police headquarters in search of help.

The three men were handcuffed when the officers drove off with the car containing Glover's body.

Former Lt. Robert Italiano and Lt. Travis McCabe are accused of falsifying a report to make it appear Glover's shooting was justified.

In other testimony Thursday, a federal agent deployed in New Orleans after Katrina said he interviewed William Tanner, the owner of the burned car, about a month after the shooting.

Tanner had driven Glover, Glover's brother and a friend to the school, where he claims they were beaten before the officers drove off with his car.

John Schmidt, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, said he recounted Tanner's story to Italiano because he supervised the investigative unit for the police district where the shooting and alleged beatings occurred.

'He said he was going to take care of it,' Schmidt recalled Italiano saying.

But prosecutors say Italiano helped cover up the incident and lied to the FBI about his knowledge of the shooting and burned car.

MINIATURIZATION OF POLICE DOGS

The Japanese are well known for miniaturizing all sorts of electronic gizmos. And now they’ve don it with police dogs. What can possibly be next, the miniaturization of humans?

ARE THEY BARKING MAD? JAPAN’S NEWEST POLICE DOG IS A CHIHUAHUA CALLED ‘MOMO’

Meet Japan's newest police dog - all 6.6 lb of her.

In what is a world first, a long-haired Chihuahua named 'Momo' has passed exams to become a police dog in the western Japanese prefecture of Nara.

The brown-and-white dog was one of 32 successful candidates out of 70 dogs, passing a search and rescue test by finding a person in five minutes after merely sniffing their cap.

'Any breed of dog can be entered to become a police dog in the search and rescue division,' said a Nara police spokesman.

But he admitted that news a Chihuahua had been entered may still come as a surprise to many.

'It's quite unusual,' he said.

Television footage showed the seven-year-old Momo bounding across grass or sitting proudly, long hair blowing in the breeze.

Momo will be used for rescue operations in case of disasters such as earthquakes, in the hope that she may be able to squeeze her tiny frame into places too narrow for more usual rescue dogs, which tend to be German Shepherds.

The public response to the news of Momo's selection took police by surprise, the spokesman said, adding: 'The phone's been ringing all afternoon.'

'It's quite rare for us to have a chihuahua work as a police dog,' the spokeswoman said.

Chihuahuas, named after a Mexican state, are the smallest breed of dog.

'We would like it to work hard by taking advantage of its small size,' a Nara police department official told the Sankei Shimbun daily.

JESSE VENTURA DOESN'T LIKE TO GET GROPED

FORMER GOV. VENTURA WILL NO LONGER FLY DUE TO ABUSE HE’S ENDURED AT HANDS OF TSA

Appearing on the Alex Jones Show today, the former governor of Minnesota and host of the popular TruTV show, Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura, announced he will no longer use commercial airlines due to the egregious abuses of the TSA and the government.

Ventura said he made the decision to avoid public aircraft after he found himself becoming too comfortable with being routinely searched. He said he was subjected to pat down and search three or four times a week when he traveled for his television show. Ventura had hip surgery and the metal in his body invariably sets off airport metal detectors.

Jesse said he will no longer be forced by the TSA to prove he is not a criminal or terrorist. He refuses to be considered guilty until proven innocent by the government in violation of the Fourth Amendment. He also admitted the decision not to fly may put an end to his career.

Several people have initiated lawsuits against the government, including a 21-year-old college student from Amarillo, Texas, who had her breasts exposed by a TSA goon and a businessman and frequent traveler who has is so infuriated by TSA workers sexually groping passengers, squeezing breasts and genitals, that he has filed a lawsuit in federal court in Miami requesting an injunction against the TSA to prevent them from touching private areas without reasonable suspicion.

BETTER WAY TO SCREEN AIRLINE PASSENGERS

Well an good, but why can’t Homeland Security adopt the Israeli method? Israel’s air travel security is based mostly on thorough background checks of all air travelers and on profiling passengers getting ready to board airliners. Israel’s airliners are prime targets for Muslim militants, but that nation’s security system has prevented any of its airliners from being downed.

THE SOLUTION TO AIRPORT SCREENING UPROAR?
By Tony Pugh

Jewish World Review
Nov 18, 2010

After 23-year-old Nigerian terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab boarded a flight from the Netherlands to Detroit last Christmas with enough explosives to bring down the plane, officials at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport decided to build a better mousetrap.

So they installed more than a dozen full-body scanners capable of detecting metallic and non-metallic materials, including explosives, gels, powders and liquids.

In the 11 months that the devices have operated, Schiphol largely has avoided the privacy and safety uproar that surrounds passenger screening at U.S. airports on the eve of the holiday travel season.

Ironically, the Dutch can credit their relative success to good ol' American ingenuity: the kind that the Department of Homeland Security is now considering.

Unlike the backscatter imaging devices that provide revealing body images and which have stoked concerns about radiation, the system at Schiphol uses radio waves to detect contraband.

The Woburn, Mass., firm that manufacturers the system, L-3 Communications Security & Detection Systems, claims on its website that the radio waves are "10,000 times lower than other commonly used radio-frequency devices."

If the software identifies a passenger carrying explosives, an outline of the problem body area is displayed on a generic mannequin figure instead of on the actual image of the passenger's body. The mannequin image, which appears on the operator's control panel, "can then be used by security personnel to direct a focused discussion or search," the company website reads.

The "automatic threat detection" system, dubbed "ProVision ATD," sells for $40,000 to $150,000 and doesn't use ionizing radiation or X-rays.

In May, the Transportation Security Administration ordered 200 of the less-advanced ProVision systems to screen passengers at U.S. airports. These units don't feature the "automatic threat detection" capability that can highlight parts of the body without generating actual images. But TSA has contracted with L-3 to develop software upgrades that could provide that capability for the agency's 200 units.

It's unclear how soon the updated software will be made available, but it should go a long way in eliminating the current controversy.

ARYAN BROTHERHOOD NOW ALLIED WITH DRUG CARTELS

The following report is from the Borderland Beat blog:

MEXICAN DRUG CARTELS TIED TO U.S. WHITE SUPREMACISTS
By Claudia Núñez, Translated by Elena Shore

La Opinion
November 17, 2010

The activities of white supremacist groups in the United States could be financed by Mexican drug cartels as a result of ties between the two groups, experts say. Members of the supremacist gang Aryan Brotherhood are collaborating with organized crime groups the Mexican Mafia and the Tijuana Cartel to smuggle illegal drugs both in state and federal prisons, and on the California-Mexico market.

"The cartels are looking for partners, bridges, to connect their activities inside the United States, and the supremacists have become an important force on the streets and inside prisons," according to Larry Gaines, gang expert and president of the criminal justice department at San Bernardino State University.

Members of the Aryan Brotherhood, the notoriously violent organization founded in the California penitentiary system in 1967, are serving as hitmen for Mexican cartels and offering added protection and intimidation against rival groups, according to a report by the National Gang Intelligence Center.

"Some members of the Aryan Brotherhood (AB) have business relationships with Mexican cartels that bring illegal drugs into California for the AB to distribute. The Aryan Brotherhood is notoriously violent and is often involved in murder for hire," the report says.

Likewise, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirms that its own research indicates that white supremacist gangs are currently collaborating with Mexican cartels in car theft operations and arms trafficking to Mexico, primarily in Texas, California and Chicago.

Although the first investigation into the collaboration between the Aryan Brotherhood and the Mexican Mafia was conducted by the Los Angeles bureau of the FBI, that office told La Opinión that it does not currently have any intelligence supporting their collaboration. This, despite the fact that the National Gang Intelligence Center (which the FBI is a part of) confirms the ties between the two groups.

In 1984, the FBI’s Los Angeles bureau issued a report stating that Aryan Brotherhood gang members were facing longer prison terms than Latino gang members and had become the major force of organized crime inside prisons.

Several prison guards were allegedly killed by AB gang members as a sign of intimidation.

The report also states that both groups came to a "peace" agreement that they would not kill a member of a rival racial group. If the Aryan Brotherhood had a problem with a Mexican, for example, they would pass the case onto the Mexican Mafia who would order his execution; and the AB would be responsible for punishing its own members.

The FBI agents that conducted the six-month investigation warned that many of the AB gang members would be released from prison in a few years, and the alliance between the two gangs would continue on the streets. The theory, according to new reports, has become a reality.

SOLDIERS IN THE SERVICE OF CRIMINALS

According to a white supremacist doctrine, the Aryan Brotherhood, whose symbol is "666," has shifted from an organization whose mission was to protect itself from other racial groups to a group that seeks power and control over sectors of the drug market.

But the Aryan Brotherhood is also secondarily financing other extremist political groups like the gangs Peckerwoods, Public Enemy Number One and Nazi Low Riders that it has formed alliances with to distribute drugs. "The drug trafficking money is indirectly serving the purposes of supremacists," said Wes McBride, executive director of the California Gang Investigators Association.

The Aryan Brotherhood formed a coalition with the group Nazi Low Riders (NLR) to serve as street soldiers in drug and arms trafficking. But a series of mass arrests of NLR members changed the structure of their business.

In March 2006, Ty Fowles, a resident of Garden Grove and alleged leader of the NLR, pleaded guilty to racketeering charges. Fowles was charged with extortion, conspiracy to distribute drugs, witness tampering, robbery, murder and attempted murder. The same year, Richard Klein, 35, and his wife Kylie, 25, were convicted of selling methamphetamines on the streets of Orange County to fund the NLR and the families of its incarcerated members.

With members of NLR divided, Donald Reed "Popeye" Mazza, the leader of Public Enemy Number One, joined the Aryan Brotherhood in 2005. Public Enemy Number One, also known as Death Squad, has grown immensely. Although it has a racist ideology, the group is primarily dedicated to making money, particularly in the meth trade.

Authorities suspect that there could be hundreds of these members operating throughout Southern California. Meanwhile, federal reports state that Aryan Brotherhood squads were or are still part of the U.S. Armed Forces and have employed their military tactics in their own operations.

On the streets of Lancaster and Palmdale, east of Los Angeles, anti-drug agents have discovered alliances between gangs of different races working for the cartels, according to Lt. Erik Ruble of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

"In prison, divisions and racial problems are still strong, but on the street, the structure is different. Now it’s based on a union of power and economics where racial divisions are unnecessary," says Ruble.

In the past, meth and Ecstasy production in California was controlled by white gangs. Now the market is completely dominated by Mexican cartels, said Thom Mrozek, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The spokesperson said he is not aware of agreements between white supremacist gangs and Latino gangs, but he confirmed cases of white and Asian gangs working together on large-scale synthetic drug operations.

"The amount of money these gangs handle is massive. We had a case of the wife of a member of [the Mexican Mafia] who had half a million dollars in cash at home, and expensive properties in several cities," said Mrozek. "The reality is that today if you want cocaine, the Mexican cartels have the big market, same with methamphetamines, and there are enough drugs for the cartels to have to find new customers and systems of distribution."

'CRIMINALS ARE CUT FROM THE SAME CLOTH, ALL OF THEM'

On Wednesday’s PACOVILLA Corrections blog, Paco posted ‘Non-violent parolee murdered RPD officer as he pleaded for mercy.’ The tragic killing of a Riverside PD officer by a parolee who had been classified as ‘non-violent’ before he was released from prison, resulted in a number of comments.

My comment was:

No one, man or computer, can predict future behavior. Nothing is more non-violent than writing bad checks. But years ago, a bad check writer in Houston became a cold-blooded killer. He was passing through the check out line in a supermarket and attempted to pay for some groceries with a bad check. The telecheck system alerted the checker who called for the manager. At that point the bad check writer pulled out a gun and shot the checker to death. The asshole had no prior arrests for violence on his record.

So in memory of Ryan Bonaminio [the slain officer] and for the sake of other officers and members of the public, get rid of that stupid ‘non-violent’ classification!

One of Paco’s followers, ‘warm ham’, made some insightful observations in his comment. Here is what he said:

Politicians don’t get it, judges don’t get it and unfortunately the majority of the public doesn’t get it. It’s not about who is or is not non-violent, what a criminal’s past history was, or the factors that may indicate future violent behavior. It is about a mindset that criminals have.

Whether a check forger or a murderer, criminals are irresponsible, impulsive, selfish, opportunists. They are cut from the same cloth, all of them.

Those that manage to see the light and change their ways, more power to them, but for the vast majority of criminals, when a situation requires violence you can bet they won’t hesitate.

The politicians & so called "experts" think they have devised a [computer] program that can determine the likelihood a parolee will or will not engage in violence. Time and time again criminals will prove just how naive everyone really is. Problem is it comes at the cost of lives.

THEY MUST HAVE SLEPT THROUGH CHEM ISTRY CLASS

METH FIRES GALORE IN LUFKIN
By John Nova Lomax

Houston Press Hair Balls

Man, Lufkin's got the crystal methamphetamine blues bad. Just as one high-profile meth lab fire case comes to a close, another one opens...

We begin with the adventures of Gilbert Sanders and Charles Euper...

Okay, imagine you own a motel on Texas 59 in the Piney Woods just north of Lufkin. It's 3 AM. Gilbert Naylor Sanders, the not-scary-looking-at-all gentleman, walks in and asks for a room, and you oblige.

Fifteen minutes later your entire motel is on fire.

Okay...Should you really be all that surprised? I mean, did it not cross your mind that this extra from the Devil's Rejects-looking dude just might be in the mood for cookin' up a little of that good ol'-fashion East Texas bathtub crank?

We're not casting aspersions on the owner of Lufkin's American Motel, which indeed burned down last January. Nope, this is all on Sanders, who pleaded guilty to arson this week was sentenced to two years in prison, and his buddy Charles Roy Euper, who took a six-year bit for the same charge.

According to the Lufkin Daily News, the night in question went down like this:

__Euper joined [Sanders] in Room 28 where the two apparently began cooking meth, according to previous reports. Fifteen minutes later, the entire building was engulfed in flames. As the motel owner, Norma Berreles, and her husband began to settle in for the night, both heard sounds of crackling and popping which prompted the husband to investigate. Outside the front office he saw flames coming from of one of the rooms. The motel owner told investigators her husband was able to get all guests out of their rooms before they dialed 911.

Euper was arrested in November of 2009 in connection with the motel fire, and was released on bond. But he wasn't quite done yet -- East Texas cops caught him with another meth lab this past August.

Apparently James Durham doesn't read, or possibly doesn't comprehend, the Lufkin papers because he made the same mistake Euper and Sanders did.

Last Thursday, the home Durham shared with his mother burned to the ground. After determining the fire was allegedly ignited by a mobile "shake and bake" meth lab, they tracked Durham down in the motel room he and his mom had been provided by the Red Cross. (Who knows -- maybe it was the American Motel, risen from the ashes.)

According to the Daily News, Durham tried gamely to talk his way out of the jam, despite some pretty compelling evidence.

__Angelina County Sheriff Segreant Allen] Hill said Durham did not take ownership of the lab, but had chemical burns on his body. "He said, 'I'm clean. I didn't do nothing.' He was burned all along his side as if he'd been squirted with lighter fluid," Hill said.

As of Wednesday, Durham was in the Angelina County Jail facing an arson charge. His bond was set at $25,000.

Burger King has fired a number of employees after a customer in California was given a receipt with swear words written on it.

Francisco Perez was shocked when he went through a Sacramento drive thru for a cheeseburger and saw the words FUCK YOU printed out twice on his bill.

He spent $9.22 on a double Whopper with cheese, onion rings, funnel cake sticks, and a small drink during his late-night food run.

As he collected his meal he noticed the expletives typed out where the customer number is usually placed.

'All I did was place my order and got a "fuck you" burger' Perez told KTVU.

'Actually, I am embarrassed. It's humiliating.

'I showed the guy and he just kind of laughed.

'There was no "Sorry, we'll fix it".'

He says he did nothing to provoke the workers, whose names also appear on the receipt.

According to Perez a Burger King representative called him late Wednesday to offer vouchers for free food.

He refused.

Perez said that while he ate his Whopper meal from that night, he will never eat at a Burger King again.

He is now contemplating a lawsuit.

A THIEF WITH MORALS

MAN STEALS CAR, FINDS BABY INSIDE AND GOES BACK TO CHASTISE DRIVER: A MORALITY TALE
By Richard Connelly

Houston Press Hair Balls
November 17, 2010

A man's got to have a code, as Omar Little says.

Stealing a car? Permissible, if circumstances warrant. Leaving a baby in one? No way.

The Galveston County Daily News reports on this stirring morality tale, which took place early Tuesday morning.

A Houston woman and a boyfriend intended to go fishing off a Seawall pier; as they were taking the equipment out on a jetty, the woman left her baby in a car seat with the heater on because she thought it was too cold out.

As both of them were way out on the jetty, a man -- thought to be homeless -- hopped in the car and took off.

He quickly made a U-turn, though, when he discovered the baby in the backseat.

He drove it back to the couple, got out and, according to Galveston police, asked the couple "What the hell are you doing?"

"The guy made comments about why would you leave your kid in the car," a GPD spokesman said.

We do not know if the couple asked why the hell the guy would steal their car. But we're guessing they were too stunned by getting a morality lecture from a car thief to comment.

MOTHER FROM HELL

Why did the judge only give her 15 years when he called her ‘the mother from hell’ and described her as 'sadistic and merciless'?

Another example of why humans are the most cruel of all animals.

A 'mother from hell' has been jailed for 15 years after plunging her three-year-old son into boiling water because he soiled his nappy.

Former care worker Regina Cooper, 31, from New York, held the child in a bath and watched as his skin 'fell off'.

Barkim Owens had to have all 10 toes amputated and suffered severe burns that spread to 20 per cent of his body.

He spent six weeks in a coma after the attack and has had to learn how to walk again.

Doctors had to remove a rib and place it in his throat to open up his airway.

Queens Supreme Court, in New York, heard that Barkim 'just wanted to be loved' and screamed 'it hurts, it hurts' as he was held in the water for several minutes, the New York Daily News reported.

Cooper pleaded guilty to assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Justice Richard Buchter, sentencing, described Cooper as 'sadistic and merciless', the newspaper said.

He said: 'Regina Cooper, unfortunately, is the mother from hell.

'The defendant is sadistic and merciless.'

Pam Jordan, Cooper's lawyer, said her client had been abused throughout her life.

At yesterday's sentencing hearing, Cooper told the judge that 'everybody hates me' and that she 'did not mean for this to happen', the newspaper reported.

Prosecutors said Cooper carried out the horrific attack after becoming angry that her son had soiled his nappy as they returned to their apartment on January 25.

Barkim has now been reunited with his father, 46-year-old Ronnie Owens, and his two sisters.

Mr Owens told the New York Daily News that Cooper had stopped him from seeing his children for two years.

He now hopes to gain custody of all three children before Christmas.

Barkim still suffers from nightmares and refuses to get into a bath.

TEACHER FINDS 17 BAGS OF CRACK COCAINE IN 3-YEAR-OLD GIRL’S SHOE AFTER SHE COMPLAINED ABOUT HER FOOT HURTING

Mail Online
November 17, 2010

A toddler went to her Boston preschool with 17 bags of crack hidden in her shoe.

After the 3-year-old girl complained that her foot hurt, her teacher took off her sneaker and found the small plastic bags containing crack cocaine.

Police say teachers at the Walnut Grove preschool were adjusting the girl's sneaker Monday when they found the individually wrapped bags of crack, ready for distribution.

The teachers told police the girl said her mother had put 'candy' inside her sneaker.

In the police report, she is quoted as saying, 'My mommy put it in my shoes and said it was candy.'

But the girl's mother told police she knew nothing about the drugs.

Police arrested 19-year-old Demare Gary, the mother's boyfriend, after he allegedly told police the crack was his. He pleaded not guilty to child endangerment and drug trafficking charges.

'I was the one who placed the drugs inside the shoe last night,'' Gary is quoted by police as telling them. 'And I forgot about it.'

But his attorney, Lauren Craig Redmond, dismissed the alleged confession to the Boston Globe.

'He's a young man,' she said. 'Most likely, he is taking the fall for somebody.'

Craig Redmond said the 3-year-old's mother also has a baby fathered by Gary.

'What is clear is the child is the person who knows more than anybody else,' the attorney said.

'The child knows better than the cops, the child knows better than the teachers. And the child clearly said that someone who was not Mr. Gary.'

The girl was transported to the hospital as a precaution but is fine.

POCKET TAZER STUN GUN, A GREAT GIFT FOR THE WIFE

With Christmas just around the corner, a guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this:

Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Tazer.

The effects of the Tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety...??

WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home... I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.

AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave.

Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right?

There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target.

I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and then thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised.

Am I wrong?

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and Tazer in another.

The directions said that:

__a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant;

__a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control;

__a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water; and

__any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries.

All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference (loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries); pretty cute really, and thinking to myself, 'no possible way!'

What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best.

I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side so as to say, 'Don't do it stupid,' reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny lil ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad.. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it.

I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and...

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. WHAT THE... !!!

I'm pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs! The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room.

Note: If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a Tazer, one note of caution:

__There is NO such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor! A three second burst would be considered conservative!

A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape.

__My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs.

__I had no control over the drooling.

__Apparently I had crapped in my shorts, but was too numb to know for sure, and my sense of smell was gone.

__I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head, which I believe came from my hair.

THE THEORY OF INTELLIGENCE

My friend Dave Kovach wrote that "I don’t think I’ve ever heard the concept explained any better than this."

From the TV series ‘Cheers’, Cliff Clavin explains to Norm Peterson why you always feel smarter after a few beers:

Well you see, Norm, it’s like this … A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can operate only as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.

And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

CHARLIE'S NOT THE ONLY ONE

Charles Rangel, who was just reelected to a 21st term in Congress by his Harlem constituents, was convicted Tuesday by an eight member House ethics panel on 11 of 13 counts charging him with breaking House ethics rules.

From the Houston Chronicle:

__The congressional panel, sitting as a jury, found that Rangel had used House stationery and staff to solicit money for a New York college center named after him. It also concluded he solicited donors for the center with interests before the Ways and Means Committee, leaving the impression the money could influence official actions.

__He also was found guilty of failing to disclose at least $600,000 in assets and income in a series of inaccurate reports to Congress; using a rent-subsidized New York apartment for a campaign office, when it was designated for residential use; and failure to report to the IRS rental income from a housing unit in a Dominican Republic resort.

His punishment will be determined by the full House ethics committee. The committee’s recommendation to the House is not expected to be more than a reprimand.

Now I am not going to get all exercised over Charlie’s financial and fundraising violations. Why not? Because I am sure there are plenty of other Congressmen and Senators who are doing similar things. It’s just that poor Charlie got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Of greater concern is the sad fact that Charlie won reelection by a landslide despite wide public knowledge of the charges that were pending against him. I guess his Harlem constituents must have been convinced that their Congressman was just another black victim of racism.

EVEN THE COPS ARE SUING L.A.

In the past three years, LAPD cops who have been fired or otherwise disciplined have been awarded over $20 million by jury verdicts in lawsuits they brought against LAPD and the City of Los Angeles. And you can add to that the millions of dollars that have been awarded by juries to Angelenos who have filed suits claiming they were mistreated by the cops. That’s sure not helping a city that was already facing a deep financial crisis.

Here are some excerpts from the Los Angeles Police Protective League blog:

LATEST CIVIL SUIT VERDICT SHOULD BE A WAKE-UP CALL
By John R. Mumma

LAPPL BLOG
November 12, 2010

Another sunny day in Los Angeles, another multimillion dollar jury award to a former LAPD officer treated unfairly. This, of course, does not happen every day, but it does happen all too often for a city that is in such dire budget straits that it forces veteran cops to fill in for clerical workers at the stations and can’t afford to hire jailers.

Consider the latest case, which involved 18-year veteran officer Richard Romney. He was fired in February 2008 in retaliation for telling the truth in testimony against the Department in a labor dispute. A Los Angeles federal jury awarded him nearly $4 million on November 2. This brought the total awards to former LAPD officers and sergeants to more than $20 million since 2008. When will the City and LAPD command staff learn?

For those keeping score, here are the major awards in just the past three years:

__Officer Richard Romney -- $4 million (plus $1.6 million in anticipated additional legal fees)

__Sergeant Blaine Blackstone -- $2 million (including legal fees)

__Officer Paul Waymire -- $125,000

__Officer Malcolm Thomas -- $700,000

__Officer Melissa Borck -- $2.3 million

__Officer Patricia Fuller -- $2.5 million

__Officer Donald Bender -- $3.5 million

__Officer Robert Hill -- $3.1 million

__Sergeant Ya-May Christle -- $1 million

It gets worse. The awards above don’t include an additional $18 million paid to Officer Paul Harper, and Sergeants Edward Ortiz and Brian Liddy, whose earlier verdicts were upheld by an appellate court in 2008 (and thus accrued an extra $3 million in interest). So in reality, Los Angeles taxpayers are liable for over $38,000,000 to LAPD officers in just the past three years thanks to persistent systemic abuses within the LAPD. But because not a single cent of that money came out of the LAPD budget, nothing, it seems, has changed.

If these outrageous totals haven’t been enough to get the attention of the Chief of Police, Police Commission, Mayor and City Council, and prompt them to reconsider their actions and decisions, perhaps realizing that there are still other pending cases with facts nearly identical to Romney’s will bring about the needed changes. Meanwhile, we can only continue to watch the tally grow and wonder when the madness will finally end.

Los Angeles Times reporter Joel Rubin, in a story on the Romney case, wrote: "The verdict, which stems from one of several similar lawsuits that thousands of disgruntled LAPD officers are pursuing against the department, underscores a long-running, internal rift between LAPD cops and the department’s command staff that could ultimately cost the city millions of dollars more." Just how many millions is anyone’s guess.

GRIM REAPER CHEATS JUSTICE

Justice delayed is justice denied.

35 years on death row. Talk about endless appeals. And Roland Chambers, this worthless piece of shit, was going through yet another appeal. He had been transferred to the Dallas County jail where he was preparing for another sentencing trial at the time of his death. The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ordered the new trial because the jury that condemned him to death had not been told of his impoverished upbringing and his exposure to violence and drugs.

Impoverished upbringing and exposure to violence and drugs? Those are mitigating circumstances against imposing a death sentence? Holy fuck, I’m about to puke.

LONGEST-SERVING TEXAS DEATH ROW INMATE DIES OF NATRUAL CAUSES
A 55-year-old inmate who spent nearly 35 years on Texas death row for the abduction and murder of a college student has died of natural causes

DALLAS —Roland Chambers, 55, the longest-serving prisoner on Texas death row, has died of natural causes in the Dallas County Jail, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Kim Leach said Monday.

Leach said Chambers died at Parkland Memorial Hospital after he was found on the floor of his cell in the Dallas County Jail, where he’d been held since May 2009 pending resolution of an appeals issue.

She said Chambers was transferred to the jail with "a series of health complications."

He died Friday, she said.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice lists Chambers, who served nearly 35 years, as the longest-serving inmate on death row.

He arrived on Jan. 8, 1976, three days before his 21st birthday, after he was convicted of the abduction and murder of a Texas Tech student Mike McMahon, 22, who was visiting Dallas.

He and his date were abducted from the parking lot of a nightclub and driven to the Trinity River where they were robbed and shot.

The couple apparently survived the shooting, but McMahon was beaten to death after he called out to his companion.

CONVICT BLAMES VICTIMS

It’s a goddamn shame that a court would accept a lawsuit in which a convict sues the parents of his 14-year-old victim. The judge should have shit-canned this countersuit the second he got it.

DAVID WEAVING, DRIVER IN FATAL CONN. CRASH, FILES LAWSUIT AGAINST VICTIM’S PARENTS
by Naimah Jabali-Nash

CBS News
November 15, 2010

HARTFORD, Conn. -- David Weaving, who is serving a manslaughter sentence for striking and killing a 14-year-old boy with his car, is suing the victim's parents, accusing them of being responsible for their son's death because they allowed the boy to ride his bike in the street without a helmet.

Weaving was carelessly passing another car at about 83 mph in a 45-mph zone when his car struck Matthew Kenney in the Waterbury suburb of Prospect, about 30 miles outside of Hartford, Conn., on April, 27, 2007.

Kenney suffered severe head and internal injuries, broken bones and lacerations. He was declared brain dead the next day.

A jury convicted Weaving of manslaughter and other charges in December 2008 and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Shortly after Weaving was sentenced last year, Kenney's parents, Stephen and Joanne, filed a lawsuit against the 48-year-old in Waterbury Superior Court, accusing him of negligence and seeking more than $15,000 in damages.

Weaving, who has a history of drunken driving convictions, responded months later with a handwritten countersuit accusing the Kenneys of "contributory negligence." He's also seeking more than $15,000 in damages, claiming he has endured "great mental and emotional pain and suffering," wrongful conviction and imprisonment, and the loss of his "capacity to carry on in life's activities."

Weaving claims he was driving the speed limit the day the accident occurred and wasn't acting recklessly when he passed another car in a legal passing zone, and said the teen suddenly appeared in the road around dusk in wet, foggy conditions. He alleges that the boy and some of his friends were jumping their bicycles off a ramp at the end of a friend's driveway and landing in the middle of the two-lane road.

In his lawsuit, Weaving wrote that had the Kenneys "complied with the responsibilities of a parent and guardian and the laws of this state and not allowed their son to ride his bicycle without a helmet and play out in the middle of Rt. 69...this incident and Matthew's death would not have happened."

Joanne Kenney, 42, called Weavings accusations "unbelievable."

"I just think it's crazy that they have the ability to do this behind bars," she said. "I think inmates have too many rights. They're the ones who committed the crimes, not us. And we're the ones who suffer more."

It's not often that perpetrators sue victims, said Jeff Dion, director of the nonprofit National Crime Victim Bar Association. According to Dion, its database indicates that out of more than 12,000 civil cases dating back to the 1980s, approximately 485 cases are ones in which perpetrators actually sue victims.

While the Kenneys are paying an undisclosed amount in attorneys fees, Weaving is filing his claims for free because he's considered indigent; a judge has waived $500 in fees so far.

MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK

Now this is my kind of car dealership.

THE TRUCK DEALERSHIP THAT OFFERS MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK: A FREE AK-47 WITH EVERY PURCHASE
Unbeatable offer: Nations Trucks in Seminole County, Florida, is offering a free AK-47 rifle for every truck sold

Mail Online
November 15, 2010

A car dealer is offering an unusual inducement to potential new customers - a free AK-47 assault rifle.

The entrepreneurial move might raise some eyebrows but sales have nearly doubled in used trucks at the Florida outlet.

Nick Ginetta, general sales manager at Nations Trucks, in Sanford, Seminole County, has been promoting the offer since Veterans Day and is thrilled with results.

Customers have to pass a background check before using the $400 (£250) gun shop voucher.

They also have the option of using the money toward other firearms, or they can request a cheque in that amount instead.

The AK-47 was first developed in the former Soviet Union by Mikhail Kalashnikov and is popular for its durability, cheap cost and simplicity.

More AK-47s have been produced than any other assault rifle.

Unsurprisingly, there have been some complaints about the deal, which Ginetta acknowledges is controversial but he doesn't plan to retract it.

He said: 'My buyer is absolutely a gun owner, no question.'

The promotion runs through the end of November.

WILL AMERICAN CITIES BE NEXT?

Oakland is cutting way down on the number of its cops and several small cities in California have disbanded their police departments. With a nationwide budget crunch, how many other cities will fall in line with drastic public safety cuts of their own?

POLICE CUT 3,000 JOBS

The Straits Times
November 15, 2010

LONDON - THE Greater Manchester Police force (GMP) is to cut almost 3,000 jobs over the next four years including some frontline officers to cope with a shrinking budget, its chief constable said on Monday.

Peter Fahy said the impact of cuts in government funding would mean the posts - which account for nearly a quarter of the force's current strength - would be axed in order to make 134 million pounds of savings.

Over four years, 2,950 jobs will go at GMP, one of Britain's biggest forces, with a reduction of 309 officers in 2011/2.

In order to make the cuts, GMP would have to use powers to force some officers with 30 years experience to retire, Mr Fahy said in a report to the force's governing body, the Greater Manchester Police Authority.

'Although there will be a significant reduction in the size of the middle and back offices, it is clear that over the four year period there will also need to be a reduction in frontline police officer numbers,' the report said.

'Service levels could deteriorate due to reduced funding.' In a statement, Mr Fahy said the aim of their savings plan was to protect frontline services. 'Protecting frontline policing is at the heart of the plans we have been developing,' he said. -- REUTERS

CONGRESSMAN: GREATEST FIGHTER OF ALL TIME?

Philippine Congressman Manny Pacquiao won the vacant World Boxing Council super welterweight championship by soundly whipping Antonio Margarito in 12 rounds Saturday night at Dallas Cowboys Stadium. With this victory, he has won world championships in eight different weight divisions. The Pacman has won world titles at 112, 122, 126, 130, 135, 140, 147 and now 154 pounds.

Most of Pacquiao’s fights have been against opponents bigger than the congressman from the Philippines. Margarito was much taller and outweighed the Pacman by 17 pounds.

Many boxing writers and TV commentators are calling Pacquiao ‘the greatest fighter of all time.’ I’m not sure I’d go that far. All time is a long time. I will agree that Pacquiao is the greatest fighter in modern boxing history. Better than Muhammad Ali, the former great heavyweight champion? You bet Pacquiao is better than Ali.

However, I would nominate Stanley Ketchel, a fighter from the pre-modern boxing era, as the greatest fighter of all time. Ketchel, dubbed The Michigan Assassin, was world middleweight champion 1908-1910 and is rated by many boxing historians as the best middleweight ever to put on the gloves. He threw devastating knockout punches from any angle with either hand.

I think Ketchel was the best fighter ever, not just the best middleweight. Ketchel was fearless, even taking on heavyweights, including the great champion Jack Johnson. He had a record of 52 wins, four losses, four draws and four no decisions, with 49 wins by knockout.

The late boxing expert Nat Fleischer wrote that Ketchel was, "One of the greatest fighters of my time. All stone and ice concentration when he entered the ring. The moment he entered his eyes were the eyes of a killer. Ketchel scorned the word retreat. A demon of the roped square he made his opponents think that all the furies in Hades had been turned loose on them. He got his punches away from all angles. If he missed with one hand, he would nail him with the other. He was game as a bulldog and tough as a bronco."

Heavyweight boxer Jack Root said of Ketchel, "He possessed fists of iron, had a fighting heart and his self-confidence was unmatched." Veteran fight manager Dan Morgan stated that, "Ketchel was an exception to the human race. He was a savage. He would pound and rip his opponent’s eyes, nose and mouth in a clinch. He couldn’t get enough blood. His nickname "Assassin", fit him like a glove."

The Michigan Assassin’s life was cut short when he was shot in the back and killed by the common law husband of a woman with whom he had been having an affair. His last words were, "I'm so tired, take me home to mother."

All that is not to take anything away from Manny Pacquiao. From living in poverty on the streets, to boxing champion, to one of the richest athletes in the world, to congressman, the Pacman has come a long way and earned his place as the greatest fighter in modern boxing history.

Had Pacquiao been a heavyweight during Muhammad Ali’s prime, the Philippine Congressman would have made mincemeat out of Ali had they faced each other in the ring. Ali’s self-described ‘float like a butterfly, sting like a bee’ style would not have worked against the Pacman. Just ask Margarito.

Arguably the bravest fighter ever, Margarito took a terrible beating for eleven rounds. In the third round he suffered a cut under his right eye and he fought the rest of the fight with that eye almost swollen shut. Nevertheless, Margarito fought back gallantly in every round. Pacquiao eased off in the 12th and final round to keep from seriously injuring his bigger opponent. Right after Saturday night’s fight, Margarito was hospitalized with a broken right eye socket that will require surgery.

ASSOCIATE OF ADOLPH EICHMANN AND SLAVE LABOR EXPLOITER AMONG NAZIS SHELTERED BY CIA

What’s with all the secrecy? It’s long been known that we took in Nazis after WWII.

SECRET REPORT: CIA CREATED ‘SAFE HAVEN’ FOR NAZIS
Justice Department probe points to intelligence agency's involvement with Nazi émigrés after WWII despite being aware of their pasts. Among those granted entry: Arthur L. Rudolph, father of Saturn V rocket

WASHINGTON - The Central Intelligence Agency created a "safe haven" in the United States for Nazis and their collaborators after World War II for intelligence gathering purposes, the New York Times revealed Sunday, citing a 600-page report "which the Justice Department has tried to keep secret for four years."

According to the Times, the report’s most damning disclosures come in assessing the CIA's involvement with Nazi émigrés. "Scholars and previous government reports had acknowledged the CIA’s use of Nazis for postwar intelligence purposes. But this report goes further in documenting the level of American complicity and deception in such operations," the NYT article states.

The Justice Department report says some of the Nazis "were indeed knowingly granted entry" to the US, even though government officials were aware of their pasts.

"America, which prided itself on being a safe haven for the persecuted, became — in some small measure — a safe haven for persecutors as well," said the remain.

According to NYT, the report cites help that CIA officials provided in 1954 to Otto Von Bolschwing, an associate of Adolph Eichmann who had helped develop the initial plans "to purge Germany of the Jews" and who later worked for the CIA in the US. After learning of Von Bolschwing’s Nazi ties, the Justice Department sought to deport him in 1981, but he died that year at age 72.

The report also examines the case of Arthur L. Rudolph, a Nazi scientist who ran the Mittelwerk munitions factory and was brought to the US in 1945 for his rocket-making expertise under Operation Paperclip, an American program that recruited scientists who had worked in Nazi Germany. Rudolph has been honored by NASA and is credited as the father of the Saturn V rocket.

The report cites a 1949 memo from the Justice Department’s No. 2 official urging immigration officers to let Rudolph back in the country after a stay in Mexico, saying that a failure to do so "would be to the detriment of the national interest," according to NYT.

In 1983, after finding evidence that Rudolph was much more actively involved in exploiting slave laborers at Mittelwerk than he or American intelligence officials had acknowledged, the Justice Department tried to deport him, and he fled to Canada.

NYT said the report also concluded that the number of Nazis who made it into the United States was almost certainly much smaller than 10,000, the figure widely cited by government officials.

POTTED MULES NABBED WITH TON OF POT

Weaving between lanes? And they say that pot is less harmful than alcohol.

WEAVING DIDN’T HELP POT SUSPECTS

Houston Chronicle
November 13, 2010

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – Perhaps the two men who got caught this week hauling 2,608 pounds of marijuana down Interstate 77 were not the sharpest criminals operating in Richland County, S.C.

The men, who are brothers, had overloaded their trailer so that it was weaving between lanes, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said.

That got Deputy Thomas McLamb’s attention. "It obviously was a road hazard," McLamb said.

On top of that, the brothers allegedly had smoked marijuana while driving. "That didn’t help," Lott said of their driving skills.

Now Hector Humberto Solorio, 28, and Heriberto Belmonte Solorio, 39, are in jail for what Lott described as one of the largest marijuana busts in the county’s history.

BARACK OBAMA: THE MOST ANTI-ISRAEL PRESIDENT

By Ken Blackwell

Townhall.com
November 13, 2010

With his remarks in Jakarta, Indonesia, President Obama made history once again. Sadly, it’s a most unenviable title. I believe he is the most anti-Israel President in U.S. history.

In going to Jakarta, Indonesia, to launch his latest attack, he literally went to the ends of the earth to give voice to his displeasure. He emphasized his opposition to the policies of the elected government of Israel.

He used his Jakarta platform to complain about Israel building apartments for her growing population. Where? In Jerusalem, the capital of Israel.

To make matters even worse, Jakarta is a city no Israeli is allowed to enter! The symbolism of saying what he said in the country and city where he said it is simply atrocious.

He was in Indonesia less than 24 hours. If he had to make such a one-sided and unfair pronouncement, couldn’t he at least have waited until he got to South Korea? Touting Indonesia’s great tolerance is offensive. We love everyone here in Indonesia, except the Israelis, of course, and except Catholic school girls who get beheaded on their way to school.

What could he have been thinking in traveling to his boyhood home--in what is widely described as the largest Muslim country in the world--and sharply criticizing Israel? It’s as if he is determined to take an unfriendly stance and to reinforce it with his own biography: This place was a second home to me, and I am telling you, Israel, to knock it off! Those were not his actual words, but how else can we interpret his bizarre sense of time and place?

President Obama’s foreign policy puts much greater emphasis on the UN as a world body. He has changed previous policy by bowing to the UN’s horrendous Human Rights Council. This is a body that contains Russia, China, Cuba, and Saudi Arabia—those paragons of human rights. It is to this body that the Obama administration finds it necessary to "report." The reports we have submitted essentially apologize to these brutal despots at the UN for not fully implementing more of the Obama legislative agenda at home.

The President has admitted he and his party took a "shellacking" in the midterm elections. So implementation of that agenda looks increasingly problematic. Shellacking it may be, but you cannot put a high-gloss veneer on what happened November 2nd. Voters streamed into the polling places to render a vote of "no confidence" in this administration.

Interestingly, if the United States had a constitutional system similar to the parliamentary social democracies that Mr. Obama and so many of his liberal allies clearly favor, they would all be out of office. None of the leaders he will encounter in his G-20 meeting in South Korea this week would be appearing in the group photo if their parties had been given such a shellacking by the voters in their countries.

President Obama can thank his stars for the fact that under the United States Constitution, he still has a full two years to try to implement what’s left of his program. He’ll have a hard time doing it with 60+ new members of the House of Representatives who won their seats touting their staunch opposition to Obama policies.

Here’s an idea he might suggest that could help build consensus and restore his frayed mandate: President Obama should announce that the U.S. Embassy in Israel will be moved—to Jerusalem.

By doing that, he could demonstrate that he is not reflexively anti-Israel. Every other U.S. Embassy in the world is in the host nation’s capital city. When Germany united twenty years ago, the new government there designated Berlin as their capital. The U.S. Embassy in Bonn obediently packed up and moved to Berlin in 1999.

By moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, he could reassure Israelis—only 4% of whom think he is a friend of Israel. And he could show "the Muslim world" that he keeps trying to appease that the United States will not abandon its historic alliance with Israel. It’s a sad commentary that such a reassurance is increasingly necessary.

WOMAN HIT ILLINOIS POLICE OFFICER WITH SEX TOY
A commander said the woman attacked the officer with "a rigid feminine pleasure device."

November 12, 2010

GURNEE, Ill. — Suburban Chicago police said a woman who allegedly skipped out on a restaurant tab was arrested after allegedly attacking a police officer with a sex toy.

A police incident report said Carolee Bildsten, 56, of Gurnee, allegedly left a Joe's Crab Shack restaurant in the town without paying Tuesday and an officer went to Bildsten's residence to investigate, the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.

Gurnee Police Cmdr. Jay Patrick said the woman attacked the officer with "a rigid feminine pleasure device."

Bildsten, who has been accused of not paying her check at the same restaurant in the past, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and theft of labor or services.
