What is the QAnon conspiracy theory?

What started as a fringe movement among President Trump's supporters, confined to the shadier corners of the internet, has taken a mainstream turn. The QAnon conspiracy theory started on 4chan, the bulletin board known for creating and spreading memes, but has moved to larger social media platforms. Facebook has taken action against QAnon groups and pages, while Twitter removed several thousand QAnon-linked accounts in 2020.  

What is the QAnon conspiracy theory? What do its followers believe? Those questions have become more difficult to answer as the movement has grown since its inception in 2017. 

The story of Q

QAnon supporters believe that America is run by a cabal of pedophiles and Satan-worshippers who run a global child sex-trafficking operation and that President Trump is the only person who can stop them. The information supposedly comes from a high-ranking government official who posts on 4chan and 8chan under the name "Q."  

That's the central gist of the theory. The rest is open to some degree of interpretation, which is necessary because Q's posts tend to read like riddles. But YouTube videos created by QAnon believers help fill in the gaps and create a storyline that's more-or-less comprehensible.  

QAnon exists as a kind of parallel history, in which a "deep state" took over decades ago. An all-encompassing theory of the world, it's able to tie together and explain everything from "Pizzagate" to ISIS to the prevalence of mass shootings and the JFK assassination.

The military, eager to see the deep state overthrown, recruited President Trump to run for president. But the deep state, which controls the media, quickly tried to smear him through "fake news" and unfounded allegations of collusion with Russia.

Despite the deep state's best efforts, however, President Trump is winning. Q is releasing sanctioned leaks to the public in order to galvanize them ahead of "The Storm," which is the moment when the deep state's leaders are arrested and sent to Guantanamo Bay. QAnon believers have called this process "The Great Awakening." 

Enter "the storm"

The storm takes its name from President Trump's enigmatic comment from October 2018 about "the calm before the storm." Q began posting soon after and said that the storm Mr. Trump referenced is a coming series of mass arrests that would end the deep state forever.

In QAnon lore, President Trump is secretly working with special counsel Robert Mueller to bring the deep state down, and the storm is a kind of Judgment Day in which the evildoers are punished and the faithful are redeemed. Q has repeatedly suggested that the storm would hit in the very near future and has even said certain people would be arrested at certain dates. When those dates come and go without any arrests, Q says that they needed to be delayed for one reason or another, but that President Trump still has the situation well in hand.

Bakers and breadcrumbs

Q's posts tend to be either vague or totally incomprehensible, but QAnon believers are more than happy to try and decipher them. Last year, for example, Q posted a photo of an unnamed island chain. Eager to divine the reasoning behind the post, QAnon adherents tried to prove that the photo must have been taken on Air Force One, which in turn meant that Q was traveling with the president. 

The Q posts are known to the faithful as "breadcrumbs." The people who then try to figure out what they mean are called "bakers." According to The Daily Beast's Will Sommer, QAnon believers also spend a lot of time trying to figure out who in the government is a "white hat" Trump supporter and who is a "black hat" in league with the deep state. Their rallying cry is "where we go one, we go all," a line from the 1996 Jeff Bridges sailing adventure "White Squall" that they misattribute to President Kennedy. 

The phrase is frequently abbreviated to "WWG1WGA," which Roseanne Barr — one of several celebrity QAnon supporters — tweeted in June 2018. Former Red Sox pitcher and current right-wing radio host Curt Schilling has also promoted QAnon online. 

Q's identity

The name refers to Q-level clearance at the Energy Department. But who's behind the posts is anybody's guess. According to Sommer, the QAnon faithful sometimes point to former national security adviser Michael Flynn and White House aide Dan Scavino as possibilities. Others believe it's Mr. Trump himself. Another theory is that John F. Kennedy Jr. faked his death and now posts on 8chan as QAnon.

Evolution of QAnon

As the QAnon movement has migrated to more mainstream social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, it has developed new conspiracy theories that have helped subsume more followers. 

Many QAnon supporters believe that President Kennedy was set to reveal the existence of the secret government when he was assassinated. They also believe President Reagan was shot on the deep state's orders, and that all the presidents since he left office — with the exception of President Trump — have been deep state agents.

QAnon believers have also latched onto other conspiracies, such as the 9/11 "truther" movement and the Rothschild family owning the world's banks. Different QAnon followers identify with different conspiracies, though they all believe in the central conspiracy of child sex trafficking rings perpetrated by members of the Democratic party. 

Most recently, followers have staged several #SaveOurChildren demonstrations.

"It seems like they've hijacked the 'Save Our Children' movement, infiltrating it and putting their spin on it," says Daryl Johnson, who previously researched right-wing terrorism for the Department of Homeland Security. "Think about children and how vulnerable they are. The issue really tugs at the hearts of anybody. But they're linking it to their conspiracy theories, which are crazy and very dangerous."

QAnon in Congress

At least 19 House Republican candidates who support or have elevated the QAnon movement will be on the November ballot, according to tracking by Media Matters. Two prominent candidates are Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is heavily favored in Georgia's reliably Republican 14th Congressional District, and Lauren Boebert, who defeated four-term Representative Scott Tipton in the GOP primary for Colorado's 3rd Congressional District. 

QAnon on social media

QAnon has spread from humble beginnings on 4chan and 8chan to larger social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. These platforms have faced increasing pressure to address these accounts and groups, but have found it difficult to do so. 

"QAnon is not one organization that you can just cancel or remove," says CNET senior producer and CBSN correspondent Dan Patterson.

"For a long time they did little" to moderate QAnon activity, says Patterson. Only this summer have the larger platforms — Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube — have taken action, removing groups and banning accounts.

Still, Patterson says, these platforms provide little information beyond numbers of accounts affected. "These organizations are heavily driven by algorithms, and these algorithms really favor engagement, which QAnon is really good at doing."

EDITOR'S NOTE: The QAnon conspiracy was  started in 2014 on a pig farm in the Philippines.  QAnon has been fueling the case against face masks. 

P. T. Barnum is supposed to have said there's a sucker  born every minute.  This would be funny if it were not so sad, but count President Trump among those suckers because he has swallowed some of QAnon's crazy conspiracy theories.

Trump's refusal to wear a face mask or to warn others to wear one has come back to bite him in the ass ... He and Melania have come down with COVID-19. 

THE GOVERNOR HAS BEEN BUSY

The governor of the formerly great state of California has just completed his constitutionally mandated decisions on which bills to sign and which to veto.

He signed the bill outlawing the carotid artery hold.  He signed a bill which clarified the practice of ALLOWING counties to create an oversight board and/or inspector general to keep an eye on the Sheriff's Offices.  (The Sheriff is an elected official and normally exempt from meddling by other elected officials.)

He also signed a bill that requires the AG to investigate the shootings of unarmed persons by local police.  The AG has opposed this as his office is not staffed or budgeted for this purpose.  

Also, now in CA convicts can much more easily get a new trial if they can demonstrate that ANY part of their contact with the criminal justice system was "tainted by racial bias."

The governor also signed the bill that will shut down the California Division of Juvenile Justice (the old Youth Authority) effective July 1.  The state will now have an "Office of Youth and Community Restoration" which will bribe counties to babysit dangerous and violent youthful offenders.  I can't see how anything bad could happen there.

Trump vows to overturn 'ridiculous' gender-neutral Navy SEAL ethos

President Donald Trump vowed Thursday to reverse a move by the elite Navy SEALs to make its ethos gender neutral — marking the latest incursion by the commander in chief into the service's operations.

American Military News first reported on Monday that the Navy SEALs and the Navy Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen had changed their ethos and creed statements to remove words such as "man" and "brotherhood."

A Navy spokesperson told the outlet that the ethos and creed were written before all combat posts were opened to women.

"I will be overturning this ridiculous order immediately!" Trump tweeted Thursday evening.

A Navy spokesperson on Thursday night referred questions to the White House. Chief Pentagon spokesperson Jonathan Hoffman did not immediately return a request for comment.

A White House spokesperson declined to comment.

Ash Carter, who was defense secretary under former President Barack Obama, in 2015 opened all combat specialties to women. However, no women have yet qualified to become a Navy SEAL.

If Trump follows through, it would mark the president's latest foray into the operations of the Navy.

Trump has long called for the Navy to replace the electromagnetic launch systems for its new — and costly — aircraft carriers and return to steam-powered catapults for launching fighters from carriers.

Last year, Trump restored the rank of Navy SEAL Edward Gallagher, who was acquitted in July 2019 of charges related to killing a prisoner in Iraq but was convicted of posing for a photo with the ISIS militant’s corpse. Trump gave the order despite concerns that doing so would hurt the military justice system and undermine good order in the ranks.

Then-Navy Secretary Richard Spencer resigned in November over his handling of the issue.

Trump's new order also comes amid heightened tensions between the White House and the Pentagon following reports based on anonymous sources that the president referred to wounded and fallen troops as "losers" and "suckers."

A sexual harassment allegation against Kimberly Guilfoyle, Trump's campaign fundraiser, reportedly led to her Fox News ouster and a $4 million out-of-court settlement

President Donald Trump's top campaign fundraiser, Kimberly Guilfoyle, is accused of sexually harassing her former personal assistant at Fox News, resulting in her departure from the media outlet and an out-of-court settlement of more than $4 million, according to a story published Thursday by The New Yorker.

Guilfoyle, who is dating the president's son, Donald Jr., subjected her assistant "to degrading, abusive, and sexually inappropriate behavior," according to The New Yorker's Jane Mayer, who obtained a 42-page complaint leveled against the former Fox News television personality that reportedly led to her ouster from the network.

In particular, the story, based on the complaint and interviews with current and former Fox News employees, alleges that Guilfoyle forced her assistant to view photographs of male genitalia and required her to sleep over at her home, where she often "displayed herself naked."

Guilfoyle, who left the network in 2018, denies the charges. She now heads the Trump Victory Finance Committee.

According to Mayer, however, numerous employees alleged similar behavior. Indeed, "Guilfoyle's graphic sexual talk so upset hair-and-makeup artists at Fox that they lodged an internal complaint, triggering an investigation by the company," Mayer reported.

Guilfoyle's personal assistant also reportedly alleged that she was offered money to keep quiet — and was threatened with personal attacks if she did not.

"In fact, as I reported this story, associates of Guilfoyle's contacted me," Mayer wrote, "offering personal details about the assistant, evidently in hopes of damaging her credibility and leading me to publish this report."

Officers recently seized nearly $5 million worth of counterfeit designer goods at Los Angeles International Airport that had arrived from China through express air cargo, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials announced Wednesday. 

A total of 7,170 fraudulent high-fashion items were confiscated after arriving at LAX’s cargo operations, according to a CBP news release. 

The products included: 2,175 counterfeit Louis Vuitton sandals; 475 counterfeit Chanel sandals; 450 counterfeit Dior sandals; 400 counterfeit Fendi sandals; 375 Versace counterfeit Versace sandals; 325 Gucci counterfeit Gucci sandals; 572 Dior counterfeit Dior purses; and 625 counterfeit Louis Vuitton clutches. 

“If genuine, the seized merchandise would have had an estimated manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $4,899,905.00,” the release stated.

Grieving family sue Texas cops for breaking 23-year-old father's neck during violent arrest, holding his head up to take mugshot and failing to get him medical attention for 21 hours - leading to his death three months later

The family of a man who died after his neck was broken during a violent arrest in Texas are suing the authorities in a wrongful death lawsuit.

Jorge Gonzalez Zuniga, a 23-year-old father and husband, was celebrating Easter at a BBQ with friends in Hidalgo County on April 11.

At some point during the celebration Zuniga fell asleep in his friend's yard. Police who were patrolling the area saw Zuniga, woke him up and told him to go home.

During the arrest, Zuniga was pepper sprayed, tased multiple times, pushed to the ground, had his neck crushed, and was handcuffed and placed in ankle restraints.

After being booked and his mugshot was taken - with cops holding up his head -  Zuniga was found unresponsive in his cell and had a severe cervical fracture, a swollen spinal cord and was paralyzed. 

He died in the hospital in July and now his family is seeking justice. 

'Mr. Zuniga followed their commands and started to go home' but officers then decided to arrest him for public intoxication and disobeying COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, two minor, non-violent misdemeanors that were both later dismissed, according to the legal complaint filed by attorneys representing Mr. Zuniga's bereaved mother, wife and baby son,' the prosecution states. 

According to a statement from the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office: 'Mr. Zuniga refused to cooperate and became physically agitated, verbally abusive, and strongly resisted efforts to be taken into custody.'

During the course of the arrest, Zuniga was pepper sprayed and tased multiple times.

The prosecution alleges he was 'pushed to the ground, had his neck crushed, was handcuffed and placed in ankle restraints.

'At one point he was intentionally tripped and when he would not get up while still fully shackled, he was tased.'

After the violent arrest, Zuniga was placed in the patrol car and transported to the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center.

Mugshots taken afterwards reveal that he was unable to hold up his own head and substantial swelling is clearly visible in a side profile image.

'Despite the obvious injuries, including a large swollen neck, cuts and contusions, the jail officials acted with deliberate indifference and at no time sent Mr. Zuniga for medical evaluation or treatment. Instead, he was thrown into the 'drunk tank' and left alone,' the legal complaint, filed by Thomas J. Henry Law, a personal injury attorney in Austin, Texas, says.

The lawsuit reads: 'Mr. Zuniga was left in his cell for over twenty-one hours without any medical attention.

'Finally…twenty-one hours after his booking, someone at the jail checked on him. He was found to be non-responsive.'

Zuniga was then taken to the McAllen Heart Hospital and then the McAllen Medical Center, where he was diagnosed with 'a severe cervical fracture, a swollen spinal cord and was a quadriplegic,' according to the lawsuit.

On July 15, Jorge Zuniga died from chronic respiratory failure following a heart attack.

Attorneys allege that his injuries and untimely death were due to the 'absolute deliberate and unconscionable indifference of the deputies and the jail staff.' 

Zuniga's grieving wife Johana Zuniga said: 'My husband and I were parents of a one-year-old baby - my husband didn't deserve to be treated in such an unfair way. We only ask for justice because of the pain that my family and I feel will not be taken away.

'My husband was a hardworking man, and his son was his world for him. My son will not be able to know his dad, nor be able to call someone dad.'

'They took my companion - the love of my life. I only ask for justice in the name of my husband which is what he deserves and what he asked for before he passed.'

A statement from the Sheriff's Office states: 'We are not in possession of the medical records required to confirm the cause of death.

'Any allegation that a citizen's rights have been violated is taken seriously and corrective action will be taken when justified.'

Thomas J. Henry, an attorney for Zuniga's family, said: 'The way they treated Jorge is utterly inhumane, his spinal injuries were so severe that he was unable to support his own head for the photograph, instead of seeking medical help they threw him in a cell.

'He was delivered to the hospital with a broken spinal cord.

'Bear in mind that no one made a complaint about Jorge on the day of the BBQ, he was sleeping in his friend's yard and this is what happened to him, an arrest, a broken neck, paralysis and death.

'His family are not doing well. They lost a husband, a son and a father. We intend to get justice for Jorge.'

Potty training: NASA tests new $23M titanium space toilet; it's better suited for women

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — NASA’s first new space potty in decades — a $23 million titanium toilet better suited for women — is getting a not-so-dry run at the International Space Station before eventually flying to the moon.

It’s packed inside a cargo ship that should have blasted off late Thursday from Wallops Island, Virginia. But the launch was aborted with just two minutes remaining in the countdown. Northrop Grumman said it would try again Friday night if engineers can figure out what went wrong.

Barely 100 pounds (45 kilograms) and just 28 inches (71 centimeters) tall, the new toilet is roughly half as big as the two Russian-built ones at the space station. It’s more camper-size to fit into the NASA Orion capsules that will carry astronauts to the moon in a few years.

Station residents will test it out for a few months. If the shakedown goes well, the toilet will be open for regular business.

With SpaceX now launching astronauts to the space station and Boeing less than a year from sending up its first crew, more toilets are needed. The new one will be in its own stall alongside the old one on the U.S. side of the outpost.

The old toilets cater more toward men. To better accommodate women, NASA tilted the seat on the new toilet and made it taller. The new shape should help astronauts position themselves better for No. 2, said Johnson Space Center’s Melissa McKinley, the project manager.

“Cleaning up a mess is a big deal. We don’t want any misses or escapes,” she said.

Let’s just say everything floats in weightlessness.

As for No. 1, the funnels also have been redesigned. Women can use the elongated and scooped-out funnels to urinate while sitting on the commode to poop at the same time, McKinley said. Until now, it’s been one or the other for female astronauts, she noted.

Like earlier space commodes, air suction, rather than water and gravity, removes the waste. Urine collected by the new toilet will be routed into NASA’s long-standing recycling system to produce water for drinking and cooking. Titanium and other tough alloys were chosen for the new toilet to withstand all the acid in the urine pretreatment.

Going to the bathroom in space may sound simple, but “sometimes the simple things become very difficult” without gravity, said NASA astronaut Mike Hopkins, commander of the second SpaceX crew, due to launch Oct. 31 from Kennedy Space Center.

While the old design isn’t that hard to use, subtle design changes can make all the difference for women, noted NASA astronaut Shannon Walker, a former space station resident who’s also on the next SpaceX crew.

“Trust me, I’ve got going to the bathroom in space down, because that is a vital, vital thing to know how to do,” she told The Associated Press earlier this week.

The typical space station population will go from six to seven with the next SpaceX flight, and even more when non-professionals like tourists start showing up as early as next year. Astronauts normally stay six months.

The last time NASA ordered up a new toilet was in the early 1990s to accommodate two-week space shuttle missions. The agency contracted with Collins Aerospace to provide the latest model; the company also worked on the shuttle potties.

Also in the 8,000-pound (3,600-kilogram) shipment aboard Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus capsule: air tanks to make up for a slight space station leak, radish seeds for greenhouse growing and a cinematic 360-degree VR camera for you-are-there-spacewalk shots.

Perhaps the most unique payload: Estee Lauder’s newest wrinkle serum. The cosmetics company is paying $128,000 for an out-of-this-world photo shoot, part of NASA’s push to open the final frontier to marketing, industry and tourism.

Don’t count on perfumed aromas, though, to counter bathroom odors.

The serum is fragrance-free and the 10 bottles will remain sealed until returned to Earth early next year.

An Irish court has ruled that the bread used in Subway Sandwiches is in fact NOT bread because it has too high a sugar content.  This is a big deal for the tax man as, in Ireland, staple foods (such as bread) are not taxed but confections are.

If he makes YET ANOTHER statement they will then be in a position to say, "See, he didn't say it until we forced him to."  If he doesn't play the game, they will continue to hector him, and assert he is an unrepentant racist.

You never know.  They are a lot of dumb fucks that vote.  It might work.  Doesn't matter how true or "fair" it is.  All is fair in love, war and politics.   

NEANDERTHALS MORE LIKELY TO DIE FROM COVID-19

A study from Europe published yesterday indicates that persons who have a gene left over from interbreeding with our Neanderthal cousins are at a much higher risk for Covid-19 death than those without the gene.

This particular gene is present in about 16% of those people with European ancestry and about 50% in South Asia.  It is completely absent in the African and East Asian gene pool.  The gene is present in 63% of the population of Bangladesh.

US Navy SEALs change creed statement to become gender-neutral

The US Navy SEALs have changed their creed statement to become gender-neutral and have eliminated terms such as “brotherhood,” according to a report.

“Naval Special Warfare continues to deliberately develop a culture of tactical and ethical excellence that reflects the nation we represent, and that draws upon the talents of the all-volunteer force who meet the standards of qualification as a SEAL or SWCC,” Navy Special Warfare spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Matthew Stroup told American Military News.

One change addresses the first paragraph of the SEAL ethos.

Instead of “A common man with uncommon desire to succeed,” it now says: “Common citizens with uncommon desire to succeed.”

Another alters “I am that man” to “I am that warrior.”

“Brotherhood” has been changed to “group of maritime warriors.”

The final line of the statement has been modified from “Brave men have fought and died building the proud tradition and feared reputation that I am bound to uphold” to “Brave SEALs.”

Stroup said the previous versions of the SEAL ethos and Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen creed were written before the law allowed women to serve in the commando groups.

“The changes do not in any way reflect lowering standards of entry, rather they ensure that all those who meet the requirements to train to become a SEAL or SWCC are represented in the ethos or creed they live out,” he said. “This improves the posture of the NSW force by ensuring we draw from the greatest pool of talent available.”

Still, Stroup said, “no women completed the SEAL or SWCC qualification training pipelines.”

The Naval Special Warfare Command’s website has been updated to reflect the new gender-neutral version of the SEAL ethos.

Patient writhing in agony moments before her death records Canadian hospital staff calling her 'stupid as hell' and 'only good for sex'

A jarring video has emerged showing hospital staff in Canada verbally abusing a sick indigenous woman and calling her 'stupid' as she writhes in pain, moments before her death. 

Joyce Echaquan, 37, from Manawan, died on Monday, two days after she was admitted to Joliette hospital in Quebec with stomach pains. 

During her stay, the mother-of-seven, who was a member of the Atikamekw Indigenous tribe, used her phone to start a Facebook livestream, capturing the disparaging remarks made by hospital workers.

In the footage shared by CBC, nurses can be heard in French calling Echaquan 'stupid as hell,' and suggesting she was only good for sex.   

'Are you done acting stupid? Are you done?' one of the nurses says as the woman moans in pain.  

'You made some bad choices, my dear,' another nurse said. 'What are your children going to think, seeing you like this?' 

'She's good at having sex, more than anything else,' the other nurse adds.  

The videos sparked a wave of criticism and protest in a country which has a long history of abuse against its indigenous people. 

'I have seven children who no longer have a mother,' Carol Dube, Echaquan's husband, told Radio-Canada on Tuesday.

Echaquan's death comes amid ongoing concerns over treatment of indigenous people in Canada, who make up about five per cent of Canada's nearly 37 million population.

Wife of Grossman Burn Center Director Accused of Killing 2 Boys With Car in Westlake Village

A co-founder of the Grossman Burn Foundation, arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter in connection with a crash in Westlake Village that fatally injured two brothers, was released from jail early Thursday morning and is due in court later this month.

Rebecca Grossman, 57, was booked early Wednesday morning and her bail was set at $2 million, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported. Jail website records show she was released from custody about 12:20 a.m. Thursday.

The crash occurred about 7:10 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Triunfo Canyon Road and Saddle Mountain Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

One boy died at the scene and the other boy died at a hospital a few hours later, the sheriff's department said.

The victims were identified Thursday as Jacob Iskander, 8, and Mark Iskander, 11.

Sheriff's officials said six family members were crossing the three-way intersection -- which does not have a stoplight -- in a marked crosswalk when the mother heard a car speeding toward them and both parents reached out to protect two of their children, but the two boys were too far out in the intersection and were struck.

Capt. Salvador Becerra said sheriff's officials think speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, and were also investigating the possibility that Grossman might have left the scene.

Grossman is the wife of Dr. Peter Grossman, who is the director of the Grossman Burn Center in West Hills and son of the center's late founder, A. Richard Grossman. Rebecca Grossman is also co-founder and chairwoman of the Grossman Burn Foundation. She is the former publisher of Westlake Magazine.

There was no immediate comment from the Grossman Burn Foundation.

Grossman is scheduled to be in court Oct. 21.

WAS THAT A DEBATE? IT SEEMED MORE LIKE A BRAWL

Well, Round One of the Trump Biden Debates is in the books and it is time to go to the scorecards.

On the surface, that would seem to be a difficult task given all of the interruptions and heated arguments out forth. But, as in most fights, scoring will largely be determined by the number of effective blows landed by each contestant. In the case of Round One of the Trump-Biden Debates, when you sift through the dust and the smoke and the interruptions, the clear winner by a wide margin was President Donald Trump.

Let me explain my scorecard based on facts, not conjecture or suppositions:

1.  I do not care who you are, or who you think you are, you do not call the President of the United States a “liar” or a “clown” nor do you act like a tough street hood and tell him to “shut up”. For someone who accuses President Trump of not being “Presidential” (whatever that means) these remarks on a national stage, with millions of people watching from around the country and indeed the world can hardly be considered “Presidential”.

2.  Joe Biden refusing to respond to questions about packing the Supreme Court is not at all what you would expect from someone seeking to be the leader of the free world.

3.  Joe Biden calling Antifa an “idea” is ridiculous on its face. Antifa is a well organized communist group with origins dating back to the fall of the Weimer Republic in Germany in the 1930’s. They have been filmed handing out weapons in our cities to burn and loot businesses and create turmoil with the objective of achieving transformative change to American society and government. They are a radical group and Joe Biden shaking his head saying “not true”, “not true” is not a sign of leadership. He gave the impression that he really is unaware of what is going on in our country.

4.  With respect to the issue of Law and Order, Joe Biden could not respond to questions posed to him about why he would not even say the words “law and order” and could not name a single law and order organization who has endorsed him. Shame on Chris Wallace for pressing a ridiculous question posed to President Trump about whether he would denounce “white supremacist groups”. President Trump has denounced such groups numerous times and that is a fact.

5.  I was astounded that there was no discussion whatsoever about the major peace accords reached between Israel and Arab nations in the Middle East and the fact that no such accords were ever reached in eight years of the Obama-Biden Administration.

6.  Joe Biden continuously referred to President Trump as a liar. That is really rich. He is a man who has been caught in more lies and exaggerations, plagiarism, and insults directed at people than anyone I have ever seen. His entire life is built on lies and falsehoods.

7.  Joe Biden flat out lied when he claimed that he and President Obama was responsible for the success our nation’s economy reached under President Trump.

8.  If you listened carefully to the question posed by Chris Wallace about racism in America, Biden said that there was indeed “systemic racism” in America. But if that is the case, when did it start? Joe Biden has been in government for forty seven years and served under Barack Obama, a black President. Why didn’t he address this issue then? Where has he been for forty seven years?

9.  On the issue of the economy, Biden clearly indicated that “he represents the Democratic Party and what he says is the Party’s policy”. He denied steadfastly that there was no agreement signed between himself and the Bernie Sanders led coalition. Those are bold faced lies. There are indeed numerous letters of agreement, and in particular, support for the “Green New Deal” although Biden calls it by another name. That plan calls for $100 Trillion in spending…money we do not have….and which will not generate economic returns. 

But there is much more. Biden reaffirmed that he will raise taxes on Americans to the tune of $4.0 Trillion next year; that he will “on day one of his Administration, repeal all of the Trump tax cuts”; that he will increase taxes on corporations, on stock market gains, on 401-K plans….and he is going to do all this in a period where people are struggling to make ends meet and find jobs. How does this make any sense? Biden said it clearly. But no one in the media today is speaking about this. And when he rambled on about the programs he intended to launch, he spoke glowingly and great pride that his plan called for retrofitting 40 million buildings across America to make them more efficient and emit less gasses into the environment. He intends to build 500,000 electric charging stations on our highways so that electric cars can be charged on their travels. I listened carefully to this and asked myself…..at what cost? And where is the economic benefit to us? Biden clearly wants to drastically reduce the use of fossil fuels but has he thought about where all this electricity is going to come from? 

Finally, on the subject of economics, Biden exclaimed that his plan of increased taxes will magically create an additional $1.0 Trillion in wealth. I have spent over forty five years in finance in the private sector and as a college professor…I would like to review those assumptions and calculations because I am scratching my head as to who “the well known financial executives and economists on Wall Street” Biden mentioned in his remarks endorsed his plan.

10.  Chris Wallace asked Joe Biden why he has not spoken out against the violence that is so rampant at many of our major cities, virtually all of them democratically controlled. His response is “Hey, here’s the deal, I am not in government anymore, I am not in office….he’s the guy who needs to take action”. That was a well rehearsed defection but was also a “non-response”. When pressed by Chris Wallace about why Biden did not call governors or mayors to try to get them to take action, Biden responded again that “he is not in office”. In other words….”it’s not my job”. But it somehow it is his job to criticize and second guess the President. Not a good picture because the view is always much different from the cheap seats.

So, on balance, there was an awful lot of compelling issues that surfaced in Round One and while the pundits and newspapers have called this debate “an embarrassment for the country” I have a very different perspective. Yes, I would have liked less interruptions and argument but the substance was extremely informative, and once you get past the fog of conflict, the points made by President Trump were significant.

RECORD GUN AND AMMO SALES THIS YEAR

Gun Sales Surge 80 Percent in Seven Swing States

Gun sales have been rising nationwide for months but are specifically up in seven swing states as the November 3, 2020, election approaches.

Fox News reports the Cook Political Report lists “Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin as toss-ups” in the coming election. They also indicate New Hampshire and North Carolina can be considered toss-ups too.

Here is the kicker: There is a 77.9 percent surge in “gun sales growth” for those seven states.

This news is on top of National Shooting Sports Foundation’s findings ammunition sales surged 139 percent nationally during the first six months of 2020. And the surge in swing state gun sales comes as 2020 witnesses eight consecutive months of record background checks for gun sales.

On September 2, 2020, Breitbart News reported that January 2020 through August 2020, eight consecutive months, saw record gun sale background checks performed by the FBI.

What do these surging background checks, gun sales, and ammunition sales, indicate for the November elections, particularly where they are seen in swing states?

Do gun purchasers turn into gun voters, who will support Second Amendment candidates over gun control candidates?

Fox News spoke to Ken Mahoney, political and financial analyst and CEO of Mahoney Asset Management, who observed the tight races in swing states during the 2016 election. He said, “These states had a margin of victory of less than 1% in 2016, so each campaign is sure to increase their focus on these areas over the next 41 days.”

He then addressed the surge in gun purchases: “This issue is important for many Americans, and this is shown in the recent spike in gun sales as people fear the sale of firearms will be banned if Biden were to win.”

Marine Corps Fields Sig Sauer M18, First New Handgun in 35 Years

The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is now issuing the Sig Sauer M18 to Marines – the first new handgun USMC has issued in 35 years.

The Washington Times reports that the M18 replaces “all other sidearms, including the M9, M9A1, M45A1 and M007.”

An immediate benefit of the M18 is a consistent trigger, compared to the Beretta M9 trigger that was single action/double action. That means the M9 trigger was sometimes short, sometimes long. The M18 trigger is the same every time.

Another benefit of the M18 is the modular system, which uses “interchangeable components” to personalize grip size to better fit the hand of an individual Marine.

On June 19, 2019, UPI reported that the M18 “was developed through the Army’s Modular Handgun Systems program.”

At the time of the UPI report, the M18–and another variant, the M17–were already “in service with the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard.”

Sig Sauer CEO Ron Cohen reacted to the Marines’ announcement of their adoption of the pistol by saying, “The Marine Corps announcement to put the M18 in service with the Marines is a very exciting development. … The Marines’ procurement of the M18 brings the adoption of our Modular Handgun System full circle, as this means, beginning in 2020, either the M17 or the M18 will be officially in service with every branch of the U.S. military.”

THE DEBATE WAS NO ROCKY GRAZIANO-TONY ZALE TITLE FIGHT

Comparing Tuesday night's debate to a boxing championship match

Three of the most exciting fights in boxing history were the three fights for the middleweight championship of the world between Rocky Graziano and Tony Zale.

Tuesday night's debate was no Graziano-Zale title fight. 

 

 

 

 

 

In the blue corner you had challenger Joe Biden otherwise known as Sleepy Joe.  In the red corner you had champion Donald Trump otherwise known as the Orange Man.

Sleepy Joe was known to be a finesse boxer in the style of Muhammad Ali. Orange Man was known to fight like a barroom brawler in the style of Two Ton Tony Galento.  Biden was trained by former champion Barack Obama.  Trump said "I don't need no trainer, I'll just wing it."

The fighters did not touch gloves at the beginning of the fight.  Referee Chris Wallace quickly lost control of the fight with Trump continuing to throw punches every time he tried to pry them apart.  At one point in the fight Biden tried to take control by telling Trump "will you shut up man!"  That did not work either.  

Biden proved he too was a liar when he said: "I'm not going to call him a liar because everyone knows he's a liar."

Neither Sleepy Joe nor Orange Man followed the referee's instruction to answer the questions.  During the middle of the match, the champion got pissed off at the referee and turned away from the challenger to throw several punches at Chris Wallace.

Trump failed to deliver any knockdown blows.  Biden failed to float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.  Several times during the bout Biden turned away from the champion to mouth off at the spectators. 

The most exciting part of the fight was the constant frown on Trump's face squaring off with the alternating phony grin and frown on Biden's face. 

As one of the three judges I scored the fight a draw.  I called one round even and gave each fighter seven rounds.  The Democratic judge gave every round to Biden.  The Republican judge gave every round to Trump.

I think the spectators must be wondering what this match was all about. 

ANTI-TRUMP MEDIA FRENZY IN WAKE OF DEBATE

The Trump-hating media did not wait a New York minute to attack the President for his performance during the debate

Tuesday night's debate was a sorry spectacle of how low politics have sunk in our country.  Both candidates should be ashamed of themselves.  But much of the blame belongs to moderator Chris Wallace who let the debate get out of hand from the get-go.

The Trump-hating media did not wait a New York minute to attack the President for his performance during the debate.  

The media frenzy that followed  the debate completely ignored Biden's sorry performance by jumping all over Trump's rudeness and excoriating him for refusing to condemn the Proud Boys.

Trump was indeed rude by constantly interrupting Biden, but rudeness is the nature of the man.

The Proud Boys is an extreme right wing group that is considered a white supremacist organization.  In order to gain prominence, the Proud Boys have been demonstrating in defense of Trump.  Whenever they demonstrate, many of it's members appear in military gear and are armed with AR-15s.

Trump's refusal to condemn the Proud Boys was his biggest foul-up during the debate, but it hardly deserves the extreme abuse he's been getting from the media.

There is much in Biden's debate performance that deserves to be condemned, but the media does not want to excoriate its choice for president.

FEDS GIVE OPINION IN LIMO MAINTENANCE CRASH

You may remember a stretch limo crash two years ago that killed 20 people, including seven members of one family and two bystanders, near  Albany NY in 2018.

The NTSB just issued their investigation report, which says the state regulators did a piss-poor job of vehicle compliance inspection, allowing a vehicle with corroded brakes out on the road.  The thing crashed into an embankment at about 100 MPH killing a total of 20 people, 18 of them in the vehicle.  

The owner, Nauman Hussain, is facing 20 counts of manslaughter and negligent homicide..  

SO, WILL BIDEN ACTUALLY BE SUED ?

The lawyer representing 17-year old Kyle Rittenhouse who is facing criminal charges in the shooting of several  "protesters" (rioters) in Kenosha a couple of weeks has announced that he is suing Joe Biden for statements he made on the debate stage Tuesday in Cleveland, Ohio.  Those statements could reasonably be said to assert that Rittenhouse is a white supremacist who murdered innocent protesters.  In fact there is a great deal of evidence to support Rittenhouse's position that he fired in self-defense after he was attacked by rioters.

Whether it will come to anything is hard to say but you might remember that teenage Covington High School kid who successfully sued several media outlets for defamation for a buttload of money. 

BIDEN SOUNDED LIKE A BROKEN RECORD, TRUMP EXUDED STRENGTH

Pundits saw a horror show, but voters got what they wanted

The first presidential debate on Tuesday got the headline "Pure Choas" on CNN.

A month before America goes to the polls, viewers got a show that they normally don't get on prime time television, with the two contenders throwing mud at each other and calling one another "clown" and "liar" on the debate stage in Cleveland.

But unlike the pundits in the studios, those who tuned in from home got what they had been clamoring for after months of having to listen to boring speeches and rallies, contested Supreme Court seats and alleged tax improprieties. Finally, they got to hear the candidates battle it out as if this was a large family meal where everyone goes at each other.

Biden had a bad night, with his lackluster performance underscoring his inability to put forth his own agenda. Rather than being proactive, he was reactive. He sounded like a broken record, attacking Trump for his mismanagement of the coronavirus crisis. Biden's biggest mistake was his decision not to talk from his heart, except on one occasion, when he spoke emotionally, staring directly to the camera and sharing with the American people his son's ordeal with drugs. This endeared him with millions of Americans, but only for a brief moment. During the rest of the debate he was mostly on the defensive, trying to refute Trump's accusations rather than making a positive case for himself.

Even when Trump practically handed him the floor and asked him to reveal whom he would appoint to the Supreme Court if he were president, Biden refused to answer. It's doubtful there is even one voter who came out of this debate with a clear sense of why Biden is running for president; even veteran pundits are scratching their heads in their attempt to finally pin down what's motivating Biden and what vision he wants to articulate. Biden has not shown he has the fire in his belly to run for president, unlike his rival, who is running as if he is the underdog. Biden can at least take comfort from the fact that he stood toe to toe with the most powerful man on earth and did not fall into the trap Trump had laid by casting him as senile and unfit to serve.

The bottom line is that Trump won the debate, if only because Biden let him have the floor all to himself most of the time. In fact, Trump did away with the rules right at the outset, even telling moderator Chris Wallace that he was in fact debating him.

Trump's overarching goal was to exude strength and to put the coronavirus crisis on the back burner. In that metric, he can claim victory. Biden, on the other hand, showed weakness throughout the entire evening, especially when asked how he would react if, on Election Night, the outcome would not be immediately clear. Rather than say that he would declare victory as soon as he viably can in order to show how tough he is, he spoke at length about how everyone has to wait for all the votes to be counted.

Biden had many opportunities throughout the debate to articulate his vision for America, to talk about his late son Beau who succumbed to cancer, and to relate with voters with a story that would win the sympathy, and votes, of the American people. But instead, he chose to wage the same old attack on Trump, with his monotonic voice, warning America that the president was dangerous. As if Americans aren't mature enough to make up their own minds.

But despite pundits insisting this was a horror show, the voters got what they wanted. They wanted a real fight, and they got one, unlike four years ago, when Hillary Clinton tried to take the high road, all but ensuring she would come off as detached and cold, contributing to her ultimate defeat. Biden at least engaged Trump on the same level, and tried to punch back with matching, albeit unbecoming, rhetoric. But Biden failed to take a step further and instead of showing energy and video, he stuck to the regular tit-for-tat.

The shock registered in television studios over the unpresidential debate was hardly shared by the average voters in the rustbelt towns in Ohio and Pennsylvania. In fact, they actually liked the authenticity on display. It's probably safe to say that Trump's resolve was more appealing to them than Biden's boring soliloquies, but at least the former vice president managed to stay on both feet. If he wants to gain momentum, he would have to put on his A-game in the next two debates. On the other hand, all through the campaign, he has preferred to run a passive campaign and to stay ahead in the polls just by being the anti-Trump. This strategy, which gives the stage to Trump, did not deliver Clinton a victory in 2016.

It would be a stretch to say that either candidate managed to make voters switch over to their side. This year, the electorate has pretty much made up its minds, at least that's what the polls show. But the two candidates can still use the debate by squeezing some political points. Trump has to drive home that Biden spoke for 90 minutes without offering anything new, to cast him as a puppet that has no clear direction. Biden has to declare victory, and hammer home the fact that he managed to stand for 90 minutes against Trump and fight back, and then he has to criss-cross America and finally lay forth a vision. Trump managed to show that he is the toughest guy in the neighborhood who has no mercy on anyone, whom America's enemies will not want to irritate. In the suburbs of Philadelphia, in Iowa's farms and the factories in Michigan, voters will appreciate people like that.

Anyone who thinks Trump hurt himself in this debate electorally should think again. In 2016 people were convinced that his dark rhetoric and rudeness would turn voters off, but it only boosted their interest in the unorthodox candidate and his unfiltered  approach.

AMERICA WAS MISTREATED TUESDAY

A hot mess of a debate, and a bad plan by Trump

A  hot mess does not make for a great debate. Or an interesting one or even an entertaining one.

America was mistreated Tuesday. A highly anticipated showdown in a closely fought presidential election in a deeply divided country had the potential to be a clarifying moment.

Instead, it was a sweaty, formless flop. Worse, it was annoying. Neither the candidates nor moderator Chris Wallace acquitted themselves well.

Joe Biden was sharp and coherent enough, though he relied heavily on notes in front of him. He didn’t exactly raise the bar of decorum with his name-calling, alternately labeling President Trump a clown, a liar and a racist. Ho hum.

Yet the bulk of the blame falls on Trump, who came with a clear plan and executed it flawlessly. Unfortunately, it was a very bad plan.

From the get-go, the president was determined to rattle Biden by being a persistent interrupter, rarely letting the former vice president finish two consecutive sentences. On occasion, his interjections were smart, but mostly, they made him look boorish.

There’s nothing worse than three people talking over each other on television. You can’t really hear anyone and it’s frustrating to try.

Wallace repeatedly scolded Trump, reminding him that his campaign had agreed to the rules. Not good moments for a president whose personality is a drag on his policies for many of the voters he will need to win over if he’s to get a second term.

Frankly, I was surprised at Trump’s approach. It was an example of all tactics and no strategy. He interrupted even when Biden was stumbling, which had the effect of letting Biden off the hook and out of the ­rhetorical weeds.

Still, the plan worked on occasion, most effectively involving Hunter Biden. Joe Biden was trying to make an emphatic point about his late son, Beau, serving in the military when Trump jumped in to demand he explain how Hunter made millions from businesses in China, Ukraine and Russia once his father became vice president.

It’s a legitimate line of inquiry and all Joe could do was say it’s not true. But it is true. We know it. The records are public.

The only thing we don’t know is what Joe Biden knew and whether he approved. He once said he never discussed with Hunter his son’s business, and we know that’s not true.

Wallace, unfortunately, did not press the issue. The structure of the debate was off in that there was no built-in time for each man to respond to the other’s answer and attacks. That feature has become routine at debates and its absence robbed viewers of key comparisons.

Overall, Wallace asked generally good questions but was too reticent to ask probing follow-ups. He was especially weak at getting Biden to talk about ­topics he has ducked during the campaign.

For example, Wallace asked him about whether he supported the move by fellow Dems to expand the Supreme Court. Biden, repeating an answer he has given before, said he wasn’t going to answer, then rambled on, with Trump insisting he should, yet Wallace let Biden get away with it.

Oddly, Biden, after saying the vacancy on the court should not be filled until after the election, stumbled when referring to Trump nominee Amy Coney Barrett. “I’m not opposed to the justice, she seems like a very fine person,” Biden said, which had to make Democrats cringe as they prepare a scorched-earth attack against her.

And on the Green New Deal, Biden took both sides of the issue. In response to a question and Trump’s badgering, he insisted, “That’s not my plan.” But a minute later, he defended it, saying it “will pay for itself over time.”

Then, when Trump pointed out the inconsistency, Biden again said he wasn’t for it. Shades of John Kerry there, who once infamously said he was for an Iraq war spending bill before he was against it.

Those are hot buttons for the progressives Biden has had trouble corralling, and none who were watching could come away thinking he was on their side.

Still, coming into the debate, Biden had significant leads in all national polls and narrower leads in most swing-state polls. My guess is that, if the debate moves the needle at all, it will give Biden a modest bounce.

Then again, most voters say they’ve made up their minds and there are so many important issues coming and going so rapidly that it’s been hard for anything to break through and change the dynamic.

The last few days tell the tale. A frenetic exchange of attacks and counterattacks all designed to either hijack the debate or at least influence it continued ­almost until the candidate introductions.

Barack Obama, in an ad for Biden targeting black voters, declared that “from the White House on down, folks are working to keep people from voting, especially communities of color.”

Remember the good old days, when there were hopes Obama’s election was going to heal race relations? In reality, he made them worse, and false, incendiary charges like that one show he’s not finished.

Before that came yet another New York Times alleged “bombshell” on Trump’s taxes, a piece that seemed neatly coordinated with Biden because his campaign was up with an ad on it in hours. And then Biden ­released his taxes just hours ­before the debate.

If it were honest, the Times would register as a Biden super PAC.

But the last word in pre-debate scrimmage came from the White House, with Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe releasing a statement late Tuesday charging that the FBI, among others, knew in the summer of 2016 that Hillary Clinton was going to create the Russia, Russia, Russia collusion theory. The FBI also reportedly knew that Russia knew this, and told all of it to Obama.

So when the ex-president says “democracy” is at stake this year, what he really means is that he, Biden and all Democrats are screwed if Trump gets four more years — and can completely uncover and release the proof showing all the ways they abused their power to try to steal the 2016 election for Clinton and then sabotage Trump’s presidency.

But to get that second term, Trump will need to have a better plan than he had Tuesday.

TRUMP SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO LAW ENFORCEMENT GROUPS

Sheriff in Portland denies Trump's debate claim of winning his endorsement

The sheriff of Multnomah County, Ore., which includes Portland, emphatically denied supporting President Trump on Tuesday evening -- shortly after the president made the claim during his debate against Democrat Joe Biden.

“In tonight’s presidential debate the President said the ‘Portland Sheriff’ supports him,” Multnomah County Sheriff Mike Reese tweeted. “As the Multnomah County Sheriff I have never supported Donald Trump and will never support him.”

Reese added in another tweet that the president has made his job a “hell of a lot harder since he started talking about Portland.”

Trump mentioned the sheriff while touting support from law enforcement across the country during his first presidential debate with Biden.

“We just got the support of 250 military leaders and generals – total support – law enforcement, almost every law enforcement group in the United States. I have Florida, I have Texas, I have Ohio. I have everywhere," Trump said to Biden. "Excuse me, Portland, the sheriff just came out today and he said, ‘I support President Trump.’ I don’t think you have any law enforcement. You can’t even say the word law enforcement.”

Trump has focused on violent protests in Portland over the summer as part of his law and order election message.

He added that he would send in the National Guard to stop the rioting.

"It'd be over," he told moderator Chris Wallace of Fox News. "There'd be no problem."

'Flush chunks down toilet not garbage disposal and blast heat to melt off fingerprints': The chillingly detailed notebook of US son accused of dismembering his parents and boiling his mother's head in a pot

Joel Guy Jr, the Louisiana man accused of stabbing and dismembering his parents over the 2016 Thanksgiving weekend in Tennessee, made meticulous notes about how he would slaughter and dispose of his victims before carrying out the plot, a jury heard Tuesday.

The 31-year-old appeared in Knoxville court on Tuesday for the second day of testimony in his first-degree murder trial in relation to the November 2016 slayings of his father Joel Michael Guy Sr, 61, and his 55-year-old mother, Lisa Guy.

Prosecutors say that Guy Jr first knifed his father to death in the upstairs exercise room of his West Knox County house on November 26, 2016, then ambushed and stabbed his mother to death when she returned home from a shopping trip.

The son then allegedly dismembered his parents' bodies and tried to dissolve some of the remains and boiled his mother's head in a pot.

But before allegedly carrying out the heinous crime, Guy Jr meticulously plotted his every murderous move in a notebook, detailing at great length how he would kill his mother and father, then how he would dispose of their remains, step-by-step.

‘Douse killing rooms (kitchen?) with bleach,’ one of the bullet points discovered in the notebook reads. ‘Flush chunks down toilet, not garbage disposal … don’t have to get rid of body if no forensic evidence.’

The notebook was reportedly found in a backpack in the guest bedroom where Guy Jr. had been staying for the holiday weekend, Sandlin detailed.

The notes contained a plan for the killings and explicitly describe the steps Guy Jr. was allegedly hoping to take to eradicate any evidence of his apparent role in their deaths.

Aligning with the police’s theory that Guy Sr died first, the notes read ‘kill him with the knife… clean up mess from him before she get home.’

The corresponding bullet point reads ‘kill her with a knife’, before instructions to place ‘her’ – to which the police interpret to be Lisa Guy – in the shower and ‘turn on hot water and point at her to get rid of forensics’.

The notes then detail how Guy Jr. allegedly sought to place his father’s body in a plastic bin and use it to haul him into the shower alongside his mother’s body to wash away evidence.

‘Cut off his arm and plant flesh under her fingernails,’ the scrawl, written in blue ink, reads on the page. ‘Use sodium hydroxide to destroy his soft tissue and soften bones for transport. Baste once every hour to accelerate’.

The purported murder instructions then advise wiping down ‘areas near killing rooms and bathrooms’, before turning up the heating to 90 degrees in the home because it ‘speeds up decomposition’ and ‘melt[s] fingerprints’. 

The possibility of setting fire to the Guy family home to vanquish all evidence is explored in the notes, as is flooding the home to ‘cover up forensic evidence’.

A reminder to send a text from ‘her phone to send to me… late Sunday’ is also specified. The author details that such a ruse would ‘prove that I was in [Baton Rouge] and she was alive.’

Another page shows details of the ‘assets’ belonging to Lisa Guy including a $500,000 life insurance policy that lists Guy Jr as a beneficiary.

‘$500,000 would be all mine,’ the page read. ‘With him missing/dead, I get the whole thing.’

According to the prosecution, Guy Jr's motive for the savage double homicide was financial because his parents had been planning to stop giving him money.

Guy was reportedly studying to be a plastic surgeon in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and had been in college for nine years while his parents supported him.

The couple, who both worked as engineers, were ready to retire and stop providing him with assistance.

Guy Jr arrived at his parents' home on Wednesday, November 23, spent Thanksgiving with his parents and three sisters, and returned to Baton Rouge on Sunday.

When Lisa failed to show up for work on Monday, her supervisor, Jennifer Whitehead, made multiple attempts to reach her by phone, but she did not pick up.

Concerned for her safety, Whitehead told jurors she called the authorities and asked them to perform a welfare check, leading to the gruesome discoveries that were described by investigators as 'horrific.'

One of the attending officers, KCSO Detective Jeremy McCord took the stand Tuesday and revealed that he had an ‘ominous feeling’ when he arrived first on-scene at the home. He entered the property through a garage door.

‘As soon as that garage door opened, we immediately felt heat,’ said McCord. ‘Walking through the downstairs of the house, nothing made sense to me.’

The detective detailed how groceries had not been put away properly and he spotted two people’s wallets next to one another on the table.

McCord said after he saw what he believed to be blood on the wall, he instructed all officers present to put gloves on.

‘You can see straight down the hall and I saw hands... not connected to a body. At that point, the other officers held the hallway and we started doing standard building clearing.

‘I will never get those smells out of my head or my dreams,’ he said.

Jurors saw the aftermath of the grisly crime when Knox County Sheriff's officer Sandy Campbell took the witness stand yesterday and narrated a 30-minute video showing her walking through the crime scene.

The graphic video shows blood stains on the carpet throughout the house, piles of bloodied, shredded clothing belonging to the victims, and a severed human hand resting on the floor in the couple's blood-spattered home gym.

The recording also shows the kitchen, with a large metal stockpot covered with a lid containing Lisa Guy's head boiling on the stove.

Later in the video, Campbell encounters two large blue plastic bins with partially liquified human remains floating inside. That portion of the footage has been blurred due to its graphic nature.

Deputies who responded to the home on November 28 to perform a welfare check found remains, including human hands, strewn all throughout the gore-splattered home.

The victims' torsos and some of their limbs were placed in 45-gallon plastic containers, doused with a corrosive chemical and left to liquify, in what prosecutors described as a 'diabolical stew of human remains,' reported WVLT.

Knox County prosecutor Leslie Nassios on Monday detailed the full roster of the horrific injuries sustained by the victims.

Guy Sr was stabbed and slashed 42 times, with some of the blows severing his ribs and puncturing his liver, lungs and kidneys.

Autopsy showed that the man's hands were cut off at the wrists, his arms were severed at the shoulder blade, his legs were sawed off at the hip and his right foot was removed at the ankle. Nassios said the evidence indicated the father fought for his life.

Lisa was stabbed 31 times and had nine of her ribs severed. Her legs were cut off below the knee and her arms were removed at the shoulder.

The Guys had just sold their house and were in the process of moving into another home belonging to Guy Sr's deceased mother, which they had recently purchased, The Advocate reported.

Rene Charles, Guy Sr's sister, said her brother and his wife had planned to retire in Surgoinsville, Tennessee, according to the Kingsport Times-News.

Guy Jr was apprehended at his Baton Rouge, Louisiana, apartment on November 29, 2016 as he tried to get flee in his 2006 Hyundai Sonata.

The murder trial is expected to last a week. The state is not seeking the death penalty against Guy Jr.

NJ cops get nearly $2.5 million payout for alleged dildo harassment

A New Jersey borough will pay out nearly $2.5 million to a handful of cops who were allegedly harassed for more than a decade — with a large dildo, The Post has learned.

The payment settles a lawsuit filed in 2018 by five officers and a part-time employee of the Mountainside Police Department who alleged police brass and municipal officials allowed the “harassing, inappropriate and illegal conduct” by the sex toy — dubbed “Big Blue.”

Borough officials approved the $2,450,000 settlement on Sept. 18 to be split among the six employees — officers Christopher Feighner, Richard Latargia, Thomas Norton, Jeffrey Stinner and James Urban and part-timer Amy Colineri — and their attorney.

The group of police employees claims in the suit that at least one of the officers, Stinner, was tortured by the internal affairs officer Andrew Huber with the dildo “on almost a daily basis.”

“Huber would [wave] around Big Blue, throw it within the Detective Bureau, and throw it at people walking past the Detective Bureau,” the complaint reads.

In one instance, Huber hit a dispatcher in the face with the sex toy, as Officer Thomas Murphy filmed the incident and teased the man, saying, “What’s it smell like?” and “I hope it doesn’t smell like what I think it smells like,” the complaint reads.

The leadership of the small department of fewer than two dozen cops allegedly knew of the dildo debauchery that started in 2007 or 2008, the complaint says.

Police brass even went as far as bringing in an attorney to help explain to cops the issues surrounding their use of the sex toy, according to the complaint.

But the primary dildo-wielder, Huber, scoffed at the training and left the room, according to the complaint.

As part of the settlement, which will be covered by the municipality’s insurance, borough officials deny all allegations in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit led to the resignations of Chief Allan Attanasio in August 2018 and Huber. Murphy was suspended without pay after the suit was filed and is no longer listed on the public payroll.

It was unclear what discipline was imposed internally, if any, against the two cops. New Jersey does not allow the release of police disciplinary records to the public.

Neither Huber nor Murphy appears to have gotten their pension, with state records showing no payouts for the pair.

Mountainside Mayor Paul Mirabelli referred to the resolution when asked for comment.

The attorney for the police employees, Charles Sciarra, said in a brief statement, “The matter has been amicably resolved.”

The borough attorney also did not respond.

The organizer of a Southern California rally against police brutality and racism was charged with attempted murder Tuesday for driving her car into counterprotesters and running over a woman’s head.

Tatiana Turner deliberately drove into a crowd of President Donald Trump’s supporters with the intent to kill the woman and also seriously injured a man who broke his leg, Orange County prosecutors said.

“She positioned her vehicle to be used as a backup weapon and she used that vehicle as a deadly weapon, willing to injure and kill those who stood in her way,” District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement.

A defense lawyer said Turner tried unsuccessfully to get help from deputies Saturday in Yorba Linda after her group was overwhelmed by a hostile crowd.

Turner saw people with guns and feared for her life when she got into her car that was blocked by Trump supporters, attorney Ludlow Creary II said. She was trying to get away and didn’t intend to hit anyone.

“There were actions that caused her to become fearful for her life and that’s when she accelerated,” Creary said.

Turner, 40, made her first appearance in court remotely from the jail and was ordered held on $1 million bail. A not guilty plea was entered on her behalf by her lawyer.

The incident is one of more than 100 where motorists have plowed into demonstrations since late May, following protests against police brutality that grew nationwide over the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis officer, according to Ari Weil, deputy director on the Chicago Project on Security and Threats at the University of Chicago.

The vast majority of those cases tallied by Weil involved motorists who ran into those demonstrating for causes aligned with the Black Lives Matter movement, Weil said. He knows of only one other instance where that wasn’t the case when a man drove into a people rallying in support of police officers in Eaton, Colorado, in July.

“It’s a man bites dog case when compared to the usual pattern,” said Jody Armour, a law professor at the University of Southern California.

Armour said it may be difficult for prosecutors to prove Turner tried to kill someone because it requires showing she was more than just reckless or negligent.

“When you’re talking about attempted murder, you’re talking a requirement that the state prove that … she drove into the crowd with the true purpose to cause someone’s death,” Armour said. “That says something about their motivations, their character, their state of mind. It’s a value judgment. It’s a moral judgment.”

Prosecutors are alleging just that. The felony complaint said Turner had the “specific intent to kill” the woman who was run over.

The victim has not been named. Authorities said she was hospitalized with major injuries and expected to survive.

Turner, who has a felony record for drug sales and domestic violence, is also charged with six counts of assault with a deadly weapon, including one count for causing great bodily injury, mayhem, and two counts of the use of pepper spray by a felon.

Turner’s group, Urban Organizers Coalition, had planned a peaceful march Saturday at the Yorba Linda Library, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles. But they were quickly outnumbered and threatened by the other group, Creary said.

The DA, however, referred to Turner’s group as “professional militant organizers.” Turner was seen in videos waving a baton and spraying what appeared to be pepper spray earlier in the protest. Some members of her group had helmets and riot shields.

Creary said the charges were excessive.

“In my opinion, it’s a message to activists that go to OC,” Creary said. “They want to let them know that they’re going to push to the full extent of the law against activists. Again, it’s part of the hostile environment.”

The apoplexy on the part of Democrats in general and Jewish liberals in particular to the appointment of Amy Coney Barrett to the US Supreme Court was to be expected. Anything that President Donald Trump does drives them crazy.

But the fact that he decided to fill the seat vacated by the Sept. 18 death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg before the fast-approaching election has been more than they can tolerate. How dare the president exercise his right to do so, they have been moaning, when his days in office are numbered?

Or so they have been praying. Literally.

Indeed, when news of Ginsburg's death on the eve of Rosh Hashanah reached many Reform and Conservative congregants (the Orthodox don't tune into electronic devices on Friday night, and certainly not during the Jewish New Year), their rabbis devoted the following morning's services to her legacy.

RBG, as she came to be called, had been their heroine. She was not only the first Jewish woman to sit on the Supreme Court and the second woman after Sandra Day O'Connor. She was a warrior for all left-wing causes, whose opinions on and off the bench gained her the adoration of liberals far and wide, including in Israel, which has one of the Western world's most politically interventionist Supreme Court.

Yes, for Jews who worship at the altar of abortion and gun control, RBG was practically a religious figure. Barrett, on the other hand, is a conservative Catholic whose womanhood and professional accomplishments carry no weight in feminist circles.

Her personal life and politics are not the main thorns in the side of the left, however. No, the real problem is one that her detractors are doing everything in their power to obfuscate: that she believes in the separation of powers – restricting the purview of the Supreme Court to interpreting the law rather than forging it.

During her speech at the White House on Saturday – with her husband and seven children in attendance – she was clear on this matter.

"A judge must apply the law as written," she said. "Judges are not policymakers, and they must be resolute in setting aside any policy views they might hold."

This is as it should be and why Barrett made a point of expressing her love of the US Constitution, which she vows to uphold if confirmed by the Senate. It was the judicial philosophy of her mentor, the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

A true class act, Barrett spared no praise for RBG.

"The flag of the United States is still flying at half-staff, in memory of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, to mark the end of a great American life," said Barrett. "Justice Ginsburg began her career at a time when women were not welcome in the legal profession. But she not only broke glass ceilings; she smashed them. For that, she has won the admiration of women across the country, and indeed, all over the world. She was a woman of enormous talent and consequence, and her life of public service serves as an example to us all."

As if signaling to those who doubt her sincerity, Barrett went on: "Particularly poignant to me was [Ginsburg's] long and deep friendship with … Scalia. … Justices Scalia and Ginsburg disagreed fiercely in print without rancor in person. … These two great Americans demonstrated that arguments, even about matters of great consequence, need not destroy affection."

She concluded by stating that she strives to behave similarly in her own personal and professional relationships. But that is easier said than done, given the vitriolic cultural climate that has poisoned all discourse.

Her Jewish naysayers are especially noteworthy on this score.

Take Jewish Women International CEO Meredith Jacobs, for example, who claimed that "Barrett has proven that she will not defend equality or fairness. Her appointment is a direct threat to reproductive freedom, survivors of sexual assault, civil rights, health-care access, racial justice, voting rights, gun safety and legal protections for marginalized groups."

Then there's Jewish Democratic Council of America executive director Halie Soifer, who stated that Barrett "stands in opposition to everything the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fought for throughout her career and threatens to reverse decades of progress with regard to access to affordable health care, equality, separation of church and state and reproductive rights."

Another such declaration was issued by National Council of Jewish Women CEO Sheila Katz.

"Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a trailblazer who fundamentally shifted our nation toward equality, deserves a justice in her seat who will fulfill and advance her legacy – not one who would take us backwards," she said. "In the middle of an election, NCJW's network of 180,000 advocates across the country is dedicated to ensuring the seat stays open for the next president to fill."

The above reactions constitute open calls for left-wing judicial activism. Trump's hurry to appoint Barrett – a move to counteract the encroachment of the bench on the legislature – was warranted.

The brouhaha, while unavoidable, is pointless. In the first place, Barrett is likely to be confirmed by the Senate. Secondly, if the Democrats smear her too badly during the hearings, they might be punished for it at the ballot box by many of the so-called "suburban housewives."

Third, most Jews vote Democrat, regardless of the issues. So even if Trump had found a Ginsburg clone for the court, it wouldn't have done him any good with the bulk of the tribe.

SO, DID ANYBODY REALLY WIN ?

In one respect Joe the Hairsniffer won in that he stayed awake, stayed vertical and didn't pee his pants as far as anybody could tell.  

Trump may have won the fight portion on points.  Also Joe flat out refused to answer some important questions.  Made him look like he was trying to weasel around his liberal buddies, especially with his insistence that HE was the Democrat party right now.

Mostly it was like two 13-year old boys having an insult fight on the school yard.  

My basic feeling was, "That's 90 minutes of my life down the crapper.".
