REFORMING OUR PUBLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM (2)

I just listened to a community college teacher on a radio call-in program. She teaches Remedial Math to high school graduates. She stated that none of her students could do simple math – add, subtract, multiply and divide – without using a calculator. Furthermore, they could not even tell time on an analog clock.

According to this teacher, at best, these high school graduates were functioning at the “middle school” level. She also said that her colleagues in remedial English report that their students cannot read or write beyond a middle school level either.

If these community college students cannot read, write, add, subtract, multiply, divide and tell time on an analog clock, how in the hell did they ever graduate from high school?

Aw that's pathetic.

Hey.

What's an analog clock?
